Do you think the handling will be dumbed down?

Ok, but what about racing games? Like driver san francisco? "Better than previous GTAS" doesn't mean "Perfect and should never change ever".

They're not going to return to SA handling. All that's going to happen is that driving on a dry road won't feel like driving on a wet road.

Yes, I did get used to IV's handling. No, that doesn't make it a perfect thing that should never be changed.

Fine, I'll repeat myself:

I choose to believe that V's driving will be an improvement on IV's. And IV's driving was a huge, HUGE improvement from all previous GTAs.

I really hope not. On just a general gaming site I'm on, some clearly non GTA fans were saying Sleeping Dogs driving mechanics was much better. Then I played it. It's so dumbed down and easy, feels like an arcade game. If GTA has it anything close to SD driving, I am extremely disappointed.

Don't cow-tow to the unskilled, casual fan idiots, R*, please keep the mechanics (mostly) the same.

The driving in GTA IV phased me at first, but after driving the Blista Compact around town for an hour, it was pretty damned fun.

I hope the changes aren't too drastic.

I want cars to handle like they did in Mafia II, cars felt nice and heavy and had PERFECT suspensions.

The driving was good, but goddamn you can't drift for sh*t. I'm glad they are changing it.

Yeah, I can drift perfectly, but it is too goddamn slow.

If it is any respectful consolation, I for one loved and embraced the advanced driving mechanics offered in Grand Theft Auto: IV, albeit the frequently, aforementioned boat behavior of the vehicles. During my first tango with Liberty City, I did have to become accustomed to the rigorousness of this iteration of driving; however, it was a most easy transition, captivated by wholesome fun. smile.gif It is always wise to incorporate a fair element of challenge / rigor. It aids in the displacement of more adrenaline, immersion and realism. Grand Theft Auto: IV's driving, I posit, is absolutely revolutionary. smile.gif I look forward to its tweaked presence reigning in my Los Santos escapades. smile.gif

What? The cars in that game spun out worse than they did in GTA IV. Even on arcade handling.

At least in driver san francisco when I spun out I felt like it was my fault.

Topic.

Handling will be dumbed down?

The problem with GTA IV was how the cars were floaty and bouncy.

Was it realistic? I am not even sure. I am used to them and can drive just fine... but I am always giong to be wiggling and floating around everywhere. A lot of the cars had really poor drift mechanics. Maybe they were realistic to the model, but they aren't fun.

I would not consider making the handling more fun to use as dumbing down. As long as the physics and crashing are still there I think it would be great.

I want driving to be a better experience than IV.

It took a little while to get used to the changes in IV. The cars felt like they had weight to them. Some of the vehicles felt like the suspension was way too soft and the body roll was excessive on them. I've managed to roll both the Comet and the Sentinel on numerous occasions by taking a corner "too well". For V, I'd like to see R* do the following:

1. Tighten up the suspension a bit. On some vehicles it was fine, others were way too squishy.

2. Add the ability to turn traction control off and not even have it at all on older vehicles. Maybe I'm just imagining things, but it felt like it was there.

3. Not have an open differential on everything. Some vehicles have limited slip differentials from the factory. Should have the ability to add it to others through customization.

4. Higher and more realistic top end speeds on practically everything. This wasn't only with IV, but every GTA I've ever played: III, Vice City, San Andreas and IV.

I loved IVs handling. I'm hoping that it stays the same only a bit more realistic when it comes to power of the cars and I hope bumps on the road will cause you to fly off the road less, sometimes it was ridiculous.

In one of the pictures they had a statement that said GTA V's handling is friendlier but in no way dumbed down. I just hope they havn't changed it too much

EDIT - quickly reading through some of the comments on here I can see I'm not the only one who loved 4's handling and physics. Ok so the suspension needed tightening etc but it was pretty much spot on. If we get 4's handling in 5 I'll be a VERY HAPPY BUNNY.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T CHANGE IT TOO MUCH ROCKSTAR

I enjoy the driving characteristics of IV. I am STILL learning to be a better driver.

Maybe there should be an option for handling. Arcade, Realistic or Classic.

I would actually like the option for a manual gearbox. Maybe during missions I would use Auto but after the game is completed and I am just cruising for fun, manual gear shifts would give me something to do.

Any improvement over IVs is welcome. I wasn't a fan of how IV felt when driving and neither were many people otherwise R* would have felt the need to say it's less "boat like". Whatever way it goes I'll get used to it as I did with IV but I did like the arcade feel of past GTA games. I know R* won't go back but leaning a bit more to the arcade side will help. I think IVs driving felt to realistic.
