Target13
I Know this subject is old but why not? Most people say that ITZ RILLY HAARD AAND LIBARTY CITY IZ TOOO SMALL! Well i say BULLsh*t! why not? DYOM on San Andreas is getting really old & becoming inactive. if Dutchy3010 & PatrickW just work little more again then DYOM might gain back its population! before there were like 50 New Missions a day but now its 5 New missions & People are just editing there Mission's page bringing it to the top of list. Who Agrees?

Rytuklis
It is a great idea, because GTA SA is dying, people are moving to IV. This subject was disscussed a lot of times but Dutchy and Patrick keeps refusing it.

The Armageddon(Temp)
Its not that no one is doing it, it is just that it might be far more difficult to create scripts for DYOM in GTA 4 compared to San Andreas.

AnDReJ98
San Andreas is more popular than IV and SA is not dying, it's just nowdays statistic. V is coming soon, maybe you can expect something special. @thegtaman531 Dutchy opened topic 3 years ago and asked members what they want 'new DYOM version of SA or DYOM for IV'. San Andreas won. Alexander
@thegtaman531 Dutchy opened topic 3 years ago and asked members what they want 'new DYOM version of SA or DYOM for IV'. San Andreas won. Yeah, this one. But if you read the second page of the topic, right here, you can see that she was talking about make a version of DYOM for IV or nothing. They weren't planning a new version of DYOM for SA back then. But in 2012, Dutchy posted this @Chips: It is possible, but not with .SCM scripting like DYOM for SA. Dutchy talked about C++, so I'm not sure about other ways to do it.
NexusUndead
Just look at trailers in DYOM website, most people can't even run sa properly, so DYOM IV would have like 2 times lower mission designers. It's not even worth it.
Jimmy_Leppard
DYOM IV would be a very bad idea. Not only SA is twice as popular now, 8 years after its release, as IV was at its peak of popularity, but how it would be very disappointing for Dutchy and Patrick if they started with the scripting and after 2-3 weeks, DYOM IV died. Just think about it. If the most popular game in the franchise isn't ''glowing'' or anywhere near glowing now, how long do you think it would take until DYOM IV gets rejected and abandoned? It's too much work for something that would most definitely fail in comparison to DYOM SA.

Curtis
if it was somehow possible, it would take a long time. look how many things were added between SA and IV. executions, Kidnapping, being drunk, all kinds of sh*t.
Rytuklis
Open your eyes, the only way GTA SA is more popular than GTA IV is because of SA:MP. Nobody plays GTA:SA singleplayer anymore, including DYOM, this is why we're loosing population. GTA IV is more popular than SA in the singleplayer matter, so we have to move to GTA IV, we cannot get stuck with the old game forever. The topic where dutchy asks about DYOM IV is old, most people didnt have powerful enough pc's yet. EDIT: I just took a look at the topic. only the first page was negative, the rest of the people WANTED GTA IV for DYOM. NexusUndead
[...] we cannot get stuck with the old game forever. Truth, we don't have much designers right now in here, and when GTA 5 is released GTA Sa is hardly going to have popularity.
KaRzY6
I totally disagree with you Rytuklis. Sorry, but I believe that San Andreas is the best GTA to have DYOM for because of the size of the map, the variety of environments and the limitless to make amazing missions. IMO, having a DYOM for IV will not help with the situation that DYOM is currently in. We have basically found the problem, which is newbies not getting feedback and the old designers being inactive. The only way we can save DYOM is if we solve the problems above. And even if everyone is in favour for DYOM on IV, I 99.9% doubt that Dutchy and Patrick will make it. It took them this long to get San Andreas this far. They're more busy now, and I doubt they will want to use their spare time to make a DYOM IV. EDIT: I just took a look at the topic. only the first page was negative, the rest of the people WANTED GTA IV for DYOM. I completely disagree with you. Don't take it personal, but you should read some topics at GTA Series Chat. GTA San Andreas is more popular than IV in more ways. Not only cause of SA-MP, SA's single player is more popular than IV's. San Andreas had not so good story, but missions, features & map were much better than IV's. SA missions were better because they weren't just like in IV, 'Go kill someone and come back'. In SA, there was more action missions in other way. Secondly features sucked in IV, since almost everything was deleted that was in SA. Many people had appeals why R* did that. So R* saw that they made mistake when they deleted great features in IV from SA, so they decitied to drop it back to V. Same is about free roam, in IV many people say 'When you play IV missions and you get bored since they're repetitive. But it also appers when you finish storyline. There's nothing to do.' As you see IV had worse features, missions, free roam & map than SA. Plus there were many polls here at GTAF asking 'What's the best GTA', and SA had almost twice more votes than IV. So no doubt, SA is more popular & better than IV. IV has only better graphicip and story.
Alexander
Ok, but talking about which one is more popular doesn't solves the problem. Dutchy already said in 2012 that they abandoned the idea of DYOM for IV a long time ago, so we have to design missions with SA. Not such a big deal if you ask me, but everybody is free to say what they think. If anyone thinks that he needs DYOM for IV, ask Dutchy or Patrick for permission and then try to make it. We need ways to improve DYOM for SA, and not only the mod, but the entire community. Games like "BYUSAG" or "DYOM Weekly Event" were good ways to keep the people interested in older versions even with less features and a lot of bugs. And of course, to have more active designers is the best way to solve this.
Yezz007
....If anyone thinks that he needs DYOM for IV, ask Dutchy or Patrick for permission and then try to make it. .... Why does someone has to ask for their permission? Is DYOM a copyrighted trademark? If yes, why don't find another name and just start make it right now! If you need it. Anyone can find modders around this place and ask for their help.

GTA SA is (even today in this moment) the most popular game of the GTA franchise, miles away from GTA IV. My opinion is that the best platform to have DYOM on is GTA SA. Just think for a second. If a 2005 game is more popular and has tons of more features, successful features (like SA:MP, MTA, DYOM etc.) and also overcomes the newest released GTA (GTA IV), that just tells you how GTA IV is actually bad.
