Making multiplayer work in V

For those of you that have played IV multiplayer quite a bit, I'm sure you have noticed that the airport was always the focal point, or the most common place to gather. I attribute this to 2 things, first off is obviously the helos that spawned at the airport, and the second thing is the lack of other places that share the excitement and space to have large scales battles.

So my question is, what can Rockstar do to make the multiplayer world of V more interesting and entice us to use the whole map instead of just a small portion of it on a common basis? How do they make it so we want to venture into other areas to battle it out?

Idk... maybe the desert? Maybe the prison or the military base (if there is one)? We'll see which place is the most fun when we actually play.

The question is more of this....."what can they do to make it so the whole map is fun to play?"

It would help if the most popular flying vehicles are located at each big airport (assuming there is more than one airport).

Lol, i dont know either tounge.gif People are gonna have preferences. I dont think R* can do anything about it, even if the whole map is fun to play in.

I agree, the airport in IV made me sick.

If it wasn't for the stunt objects, I doubt I'd play much there.

I think one of the keys to attracting players to certain areas is doing stunts. Remember in SA that there was a big path up a hill that you could jump over a lake to get to the other side? Things like that attract players to certain areas.

Also, space to have fun in.

I attribute a lot of it to the city landscape being pretty bland and boring, did it fit the story? yes did it fit multiplayer? no, hopefully with the much more open landscape we will have plenty more options for wide open spaces

in what mode are you speaking of? races allowed for most of IV's map to be used, death matches only allowed for certain areas to be roamed, and free roam allowed for most if not all of the map to be used.

i spent most of my time in free roam, and once i learned to fly a chopper (like a boss) i never left the air port. i learned the hard way, that flying a chopper around high/low laying buildings like offices, apartment buildings, or neighborhood homes was a fast way to damage your chopper.

i figured that at the air port, we all had an open space for combat (air to air, air to ground, ground to air), pretty decent spawning area centrally located next to more choppers.

Good stunt areas and areas where there are rare spawns and have them in different parts of the map rather than just one place would be a good move.

The airport in IV was only good for stunts and drag races and thats it. Yet it was the most popular area of the map, and it got boring too quickly. Hopefully if there are stunt parks, better places to race, better spawn points in GTAV it may stop people congregating in just one area, however I suspect folks will go to the airport in GTAV as a default meeting place.

Free roam will be crazy with how big this map will be. Imagine battles going on in air, on sea, underwater, in the desert, in the mountains, in the streets all at the same time.

The best solution would be to cover up the whole gameworld in the multiplayer. For instance, there shouldn't be an area in the game where you spent most of your time in multiplayer; it should be up to you to choose where you start and it should be up to you where you and perhaps your crew will go. Rockstar stated that GTAV will do this for multiplayer what III did for singleplayer. So I'm sure there will be plenty to do in singleplayer and of course multiplayer. Definitely enough to get you around the map and have countless hours of fun. Since V will have the biggest amount of vehicles and weapons, out of all GTAs, there will be certainly enough to mess around; and that's not all, there will be more than just that!

In free mode they should instead of using the whole collect guns, health, and armor on the ground mess, they should spread the Ammunation/gun stores evenly across the map and maybe you can even buy the guns on your phone. They should also have the pay & sprays spread out evenly too so most of the map is covered with places to buy guns or customize cars. This would only work if the money system was similar to RDR. Seeing as how they've named the multiplayer in GTA V Grand Theft Auto Online I think we're in for a big surprise from R* in the multiplayer regard. I'd even go as far to saying this may quite possibly be the best online experience in a game ever. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

I'd also want to buy cars instead of waiting for them to spawn at a specific time with other vehicles. It was pretty disappointing knowing once you saw a Dukes, you're gonna see tons of them out on the streets with 2 or 3 Banshees. In a preview it said R* would change this so buying cars looks like it may be a feature.

Hah at the 200 or 400 ^^. Good luck doing that on a console with a game like GTA 5.

With 32 players in the game ( instead of 16 ) congregating in one spot would be one hell of a battle !

With the size & scope of the map, & with all the known districts, I think with Rockstar making this a 32 multiplayer game should spread out the fun !

But ultimately everybody I'm sure will have their own preferred area.

Can't Wait !!!!!

I wonder if people are attracted to wide open and flat spaces that airports provided?

Even in MTA:SA people seemed to group around the three airports. I also frequently saw people grouping up on the freeway loop that goes around Las Venturas.

Just... be there. The whole map will be epic to just be there and kill people / race cars / whatever. Maybe some strategic locations for groups of players to cover or some vehicle spawning point. And I bet airports will still be a central gathering point in V.

I think if Red Dead Redemption is anything to go by we can expect to see gang hideouts and territory spots where action will be spread out over the map. Fair enough it does take away that raw feel of GTAIV's Free Roam multiplayer, but it sure as hell will help stop players gathering in a single spot. Rockstar said they are going to push the envelope even further with the Multiplayer this time round, so what they can do over Red Dead and GTA IV's Free Roam should be worth the wait.

First, and most importantly, I would like free roam to stay largely unchanged, certainly change some stuff and make improvements, as long as I can still mess around for as long I like throughout the whole map.

It's already been touched on a little bit but definitely improve the spawning of vehicles, the wave spawning really annoys me, and make a larger selection of vehicles available. And have spawning areas for law enforcement vehicles, I'd love to be able to get a NOoSE van in IV without having to have police on. Buying and perhaps Modifying cars could work, if implemented correctly

Weapons... maybe an option to choose spawn weapons?

And the weather glitch will hopefully have been sorted out.

The Wolfman

Play Los Santos cops and robbers on SA:MP and i'm pretty sure that's what GTA V multiplayer will probably be like.
