Warrants for your arrest

Anyone else likes the warrant system in RDR? For those who don't know how this worked, you walk up to the clerk in any court and you pay off your warrant. Until you pay it off, an officer that recognizes you will attempt to arrest you. Does anyone support this feature?

Only good for a wild west game.

It worked for RDR because the authority were quite primitive and just sh*t in general, in gta though they have more power at their disposal so their is really no need.

I always thought it was a little strange that the GTA universe(s) were a place where if you stayed out of the cops' sight for a few minutes or so, they'll have forgotten all about the destruction you just wrought across the city and go back to casually patrolling the streets. They should be looking out for you. You might even be looking at different treatment for minor crimes and misdemeanors (like speeding or vandalism) that you might just pay off on the spot by keeping your weapon holstered when the cop comes. Then you're on your way. Then there's the more serious crimes, killing people and whatnot. It'd be cool to try to evade an extended manhunt, being made to constantly move around the city. It can make otherwise superficial features like customized appearances, clothes etc. more meaningful.

I agree.

OP,

That would get annoying pretty quickly in GTA, at least imo. I'll be trying to lay low and do crimes in a stealth way where I don't get recognized/chased right away by anyone.

Like I've said before, We'll have a LOT of encounters with cops during story missions, and by the looks of it, the cops this time around are VERY difficult.

I generally liked the idea of having a bounty in RDR, so that posse's would occasionally come after me - gave me some gunfighting action. I also agree that it is a quirk of GTA design, that you can wreak incredible havok and then be free and clear in a few minutes. So there are good arguments for this. If it were done right and not terribly annoying, I could support it.

But an idea popped into my head -- let's do this right. You get arrested, you get charged with a big list of recent crimes, you plead not guilty and then there is a trial simulation where you try to beat the charges. That would give extra incentives to killing eyewitnesses and killing people who record your crimes with their cell phone. It's a joke -- I am just putting it forth as an extrapolation of persistent crime realism.
