How has X1's reversal changed your perspective?

I'm glad they changed their plans, but I'm still hesitant to throw money at them. Though my opinion has become less negative towards them, I still favor the PS4 between the two, but I still don't know if I even want to buy either of them.

 

The Kinect was never my biggest issue, and I could deal with it by simply taping a piece of paper over the lens or pointing it at a corner. Still don't like the idea, though.

Not a PC elitist. Far from it. I own all the consoles and a decent gaming PC so I don't really have a reason to particpate in these childish debates about "wich consol is bttr lel".

Yeah I was thinking it could be that. It's just one of my concerns tho since I don't want to have to go through what happened with the 360's down the line. I had two of them RRoD until I got a black slim. Gave it to my brother tho so I just have a PS3 phat now.

 

Eitherway I think I'll stick with a PS4 at launch and an X1 around January.

These changes are great for the competition and, by extension, the consumer, but I have no intention of ever supporting the Xbox platform as a matter of general principle. Xbox Live subscribers already set a terrible precedent for gaming posterity with their willingness to pay Microsoft for the privilege to utilize the 360's online features... as evidenced by the mandatory PS+ subscription for MP on PS4 (not as bad as Live on the 360 or the One, certainly, but Xbox paved the way for this garbage). Fortunately, Xbox fans drew a line in the sand for the Xbox One's ridiculous restrictions and Microsoft capitulated, but I still resent Microsoft for tainting the gaming industry with its subscription fees and lame exclusivity tactics. Microsoft is a cancer upon the console market that I will not personally support ever. I care too much about my future children who will undoubtedly beg me for $20 a month to play CoD 10 online on Xbox Forever... the degenerate bastards. f*ck that sh*t!

I was actually thinking of switching to Xbox this generation before all this mess. Most definetly now still getting a ps4. I can forsee microsoft reintroducing these requirments further down the line and that coupled with that mandatory Kinect eyeballing my everymove in my home makes the ps4 an easy choice for me.

It was a clusterf*** of rather large proportions. Despite the DRM removal, Kinect remains mandatory, TV functions useless outside of the US, and it's 100 dollars/80 quid more expensive.

 

So for me it's still a no for Xbox One.

Also the console is weaker, they're having heating issues, and they're having issues with the esRAM, and I bet the console still f*cks the disc up if you move it, How hard is it to fix that? Come on M$.

 

I am still sticking with the PS4, even if the Xbox One was exactly the same in terms of power and features, like this generation, I would get the PS4 because even though i'm not a fanboy, i've had a better experience with Sony in general, and I prefer the little things, like the controller design and the console design, plus Naughty Dog is with Sony, and holy f*ck are they putting out some awesome games.

Nah man i feel old even at twenty one I've been a municipal law enforcer for about two years now have a house to pay.off so i feel old lol, but nobody got the reference from step brothers.

Has not changed my opinion mainly due to the mandatory kinnect, it's $100 more and the console is weaker then the PS4. While it's good to see MS change their ridiculous policies, its also not good to see how they treated people who criticised their policies with absolutely no respect, the way MS conducted themselves has made me not trust them whatsoever, who knows what else what they have up their sleeves. MS has been snakey from the start while Sony have been upfront from the start, if I''m going to invest more than $1000 on something regarding a console, games and online service then I want to do that with someone I trust, I don't trust MS even in the slightest.

 

 

But at least people who are getting the Xbox One are not getting completely f*cked over, they are consierably still getting f*cked though, just not as bad though.

I was likely to buy an Xbone sometime, in the far, far distant future, when the price hits $200. When it got down that low, it would be worth all the hassles that were linked to the console the way it was.

They chose to have no policies because they believed it made more business sense, not because it would offend gamer's. Microsoft believed in another business plan and people turned on them, rightfully so. So today, they decide to change policies and people still complain, everything they do is forever wrong apparently. Now, I consider myself to be a hardcore gamer while all my friends are casuals. I asked them what console they would be getting, being previous xbox 360 owners, they all said Xbox One. So if you currently own Xbox 360, you're most likely to buy the X1, and if you own a PS3, you'll probably buy the PS4, all of course based on what console your friends intend to buy. And to those still bringing up points to argue against the purchase of an Xbox One, you're now just nitpicking and not really proving anything. "The kinect is watching us", so? What about that built in webcam on your laptop that's currently "watching" you now? You're okay with that, but not with kinect? A little contradictory don't you think? "But PS4 has more power", so? This current generation, PS3 had much more power then the Xbox 360, but yet, everything looked the same, and this will be the same next generation. Watch Dogs, The Division, etc, and all multi-platform games will look and play equally the same on each console. I literally see no difference between the PS4 and X1, either one is a perfectly fine gaming console, and no one should hate on others who enjoy the same hobby as us because at the end of the day were all gamers, and games will always come first despite the console choice.

If my sources are correct, doing this also meant Microsoft dropped the play-game-with-family-members feature, where people in your family could play the same games (or something like that), and the download-a-game-you-already-bought-at-a-friend's-house feature, which let you download games from the cloud without the need of a disk - now that they're focusing on disks, both of these are unnecessary.

 

And boy oh boy were the people on the Polygon article mad. They blamed the 'vocal minority' on 'ruining their xbox one experience' because they're 'spoiled brats'. No, really. They thought the xbox one was ruddy perfect - apparently all the supporters of the xbox one mingled in that comment section in one go, because everywhere else it's hate for the xbox one still. These were the features that 'put the xbox one way above the PS4'. Paraphrasing, because I daren't go there again. It hurts.
