How has X1's reversal changed your perspective?

MS have completely changed their game with the Xbox One. No pun intended.

Why would you get one now? The main item, the spying kinect, is still there. They should have fired some of these overpaid people as well, as long as these lying fools are a part of this company I will never consider getting the One.

I don't get it why M$ would randomly do it in the middle of XO's life span, because how would they do it to the ones who are already offline, and they would probably get f*cked up the ass in lawsuits.

 

EDIT: What's any different from a webcam, your computer, and your cellphone spying on you than your Kinect. Just cover it.

It was a clusterf*** of rather large proportions. Despite the DRM removal, Kinect remains mandatory, TV functions useless outside of the US, and it's 100 dollars/80 quid more expensive.

 

So for me it's still a no for Xbox One.

Yeah I'm personally sticking with my pre-ordered PS4 for a few reasons. 3 main ones:

 

1. $100 difference can buy 1.5 PS4 games

2. PS4 has 2GB more usable RAM than X1

3. SONY is known for always having the type of exclusives that I like. The Xbox never really captivated me with their exclusives like Forza, Gears, or Halo. Just preference.

Don't be surprised if MS and Sony both provide some kind of framework under the covers that facilitate publishers to apply some kind of DRM. It probably won't be as completely draconian as Microsoft's original plans for the XBone, but it would shift the onus onto developers to employ it.

Before they announced this I thought that they would lose money because of the whole used game and trading issue. They changed it, for the better. Now they might make more money from the people who were switching to PS4, they could now switch back to xbox.

 

I'll buy it first first if they get rid if the Kinect crap.

The $100 price difference is still there - even though they ditched my number one complaint(24 hour check in), that price difference means I will start the new Gen with a PS4.

Hasn't changed my perspective at all. It doesn't change the fact that Microsoft attempted to screw over us gamers. The only reason they reversed their decision is because Sony would have taken all their sales otherwise. They say it's our feedback that changed their decision, but I can guarantee you that if Sony had done the same thing, they would never have reversed their decision regardless of how many complaints they received.

 

Besides, it's still $100 more than PS4. I'm not getting one right away, but my next console is the PS4.

Yes, a part of me was hoping MS would change their ways. Even though I can be considered a SONY fanboy, I acknowledge that competition is a great thing and if SONY won this generation just like that, they'd surely take advantage of the vast amount of PS4 owners now that they would've had us all by the balls.

Price difference is still there, mandatory kinect is still there, I live in the UK so TV is useless - which is main selling point of xbox one, apart from kinect. Still no reason to get it over PS4, apart from project spark. I'm sad that I can't play that.

Nope, the damage has been done, and plus Microsoft will probably find another way of putting these things in to the console. Also I'm still confused, I mean one second these "features" are in, the next they're not, then they're back in the system again. Microsoft are likely to just find a better way of describing the things (or whatever I should call them). I'm not 100% certain that they can commit, I'm not convinced that they can deliver the reversal without delaying the console, losing tons of money and losing fan interest in the console.

I still find it funny how anyone would want to buy a system that tried to take your rights away. Don't be sheep and use your mind for once. We need to show them that it wasn't right to do it. Don't buy a Xbox One. Get a PS4, Wii U and a MAC.

This is very unprofessional of Microsoft. Reveal the console, boast about how revolutionary and great it is then take away what they thought were key attributes (mandatory internet, region locked, etc) to the console in order to stay on par with their competition - the PS4 - after realizing how sucky their console was.

 

That's just pathetic. It won't convince people to buy it. It still costs more, the kinect is there, the hardware specifications are weaker, multiplayer still costs money, and overall it's just a hideous, bland box that doesn't serve it's purpose of providing what gamers really want. Nice try Microsoft, but the PS4 has already racked up a chock full of your former Xbox 360 players. We won, game over.

I agree with all of this, man.

 

The Kinect stuff never really bothered me. It might be cool, and I don't actually think so highly of myself that I'd believe that Microsoft would be spying on me.

 

I was expecting they'd come out at E3 with the backpeddle, and am surprised they took this long. But it's still too little too late. Microsoft doesn't know what we want. Why would I want to invest $500 in a console that is made by a company like this, who is undoubtedly going to release updates for it?
