Do you think having a day off work/School is sad?

IMO it's really sad.

You'd rather risk your education and get a horrible job just so you can play a video game?

Solid thinking there. sarcasm.gif

People are stupid and are willing to put their life on hold for a video game. It will still be there when you get home from work/school so just wait. Playing video games should not be the number 1 priority. You should not blow of family/social events to play a freaking video game. Like come on.......

So you've never ditched school or work to do something fun instead?

certainly not to sit in my house alone by myself staring at the TV. Don't get me wrong, I love video games and the GTA franchise, but I think there are more important things in the spectrum of LIFE when it comes to things such as being with friends/family, work, etc. than sitting inside playing a video game

Taking 1 day off a year to play a video game makes someone stupid? I earned my paid vacation days thus giving me the opportunity to use them as I see fit. Because you know, that's kinda what they're for?

And to further add, why are you posting on this forum? I mean, surely you could be visiting family / or be attending some sort of social event yes? I think it's pretty sad that you're on here posting on a thread full of random people when you could be outside with your real friends.

See what I did there?

Oh please, you're too flattering inlove.gif I think that the real solid thinking comes from your views, thinking that missing 1 day of school will doom you to a horrendous future occupation. I love your thinking, you brainiac, you inlove.gif

I always wait until i get back from school, or wait until the weekend.

In either case, people are talking about taking time off of work or school, not avoiding friends and family. Those are generally not things that we enjoy, so it makes sense to want to avoid them in favor of something fun, but of course these are also things we have to do, so we generally don't. But an event like the release of GTA V for some people might warrant a single day away from it. In many ways I think GTA V is being used as more of an excuse to have a short vacation than anything. Making it an event gives them some time to themselves as well as increasing the enjoyment of something they've been waiting a long time for. And hey, they might want to share that with family and/or friends.

Garganda's way of putting it sounds like people are planning to quit or drop out of school to enjoy GTA V's release as an event, but it's just a day or so off.

It's somewhat unrelated, but I'll also go out on a limb and say that most of us on these forums aren't parents.

If I was at school and GTAV came out, I would wait until the weekend... education is more important that a video game, unless you want to be a bog cleaner..

Not in the USA it's not. Most of us have degrees here are are still bog cleaners.

I'll probably take a day off if I can, salaried, dontchaknow.

Well said icon14.gif

Missing a day off school will not ruin your education.

Taking a day off from work (scheduled) will not hinder your position at your company.

Get a grip people.

One or two days off school won't get you a horrible job. Thats like saying 'if you get sick and miss school because of it, you're going to get a sh*t job' just no.

Missing one day won't do any harm.

Education is more important and if you have work, you signed a commitment to work.

The game can always wait, no matter how tempting. Just play it after your work or school. wink.gif

Yea lets not have fun on earth for our short time here. We should work ourselves to death cause without us the company wouldn't manage. That's just what your boss wants you to think. For school, one day isn't missing much. School need you to go cause they get paid in attendance. If you're doing good in school you have a right to have at least one day off. You be surprise how hard people work if they have a motivation.

So you're a judgmental hypocrite. No worries, it's not as if that's illegal or anything.

I think that you made a mistake there. That's the reality here in Is-f*cking-pain, wtf that's even a privilege working like that on a slave condition, but I doubt that things are so bad there as here. It wasn't the "land of opportunities"?

O.T: honestly I don't think that having a day off is bad, well depending on your condition. If you are a parent, you have to pay a rent, and so on... and you don't earn a sh*t , don't even think on not carry your ass to work. But if you can, do it. Skipping one day of college or work should't be a problem, in fact I'm thinking of doing it, but two... Seems like not a good idea.

There are no rules in dying so no it's not sad at all and anyone who tells you otherwise has way too much self-importance.

I plan on calling in sick for 2 days, whenever Im addicted to a game, it usually lasts for 3-4 days, so the last days of the week are going to be hell.

At my work it`s fairly easy to make up an excuse for a day off even like a week before. Gta is not of course a good enough reason but surely I`ll come up with something.

I really can't afford to take days off (both literally for work, and metaphorically for school), but most of my school/work schedule is at my discretion. I'll probably pull a couple of all-nighters and be a zombie the next day, pushing back things that require focus and effort. But actually like, calling in sick or not going in? Can't do it. I'll screw myself and just end up having to make up for the lost time anyway.

I don't think there's anything wrong (or sad) about other people doing it though. The exception is if you lie about taking the day off (using some other excuse) and your colleagues rely on you at work. That's kind of messed up. But no worse than people taking days off for hangovers.

I have a bad feeling that Tuesday morning when I am walking to my truck I will be the victim of a ninja attack.

Nope, Did I with GTA IV, Will do it with GTA V and work knows exactly why I'm not at work, no point lying about things, and you will find they will actually respect your honesty

If you think taking a day off of work/school is bad (paid allotted vacation) Then why are you playing anyway? videogames are a complete and utter waste of time. Movies as well, fiction books, the forum: try and keep your sense of humor.

I'd love to, but tuesdays for me in this coming semester are the longest days I have in terms of classes so I can't afford to miss an entire day sad.gif. If the game released on any other day, I probably would've though lol.

Boo-f*cking hoo, I don't think doing what you are paid to do is "slaving", I would say people who are trafficked for sex would be "slaving". Taking a day off is kinda stupid, but a whole week is pathetic.
