Even though I won't be taking a day off from school, I don't think it's sad to.

What you do during your time is your time.

For School it isn't bad. Your there 5 days a week. Missing one day isn't bad.

For Work it isn't bad cause you work all your life. Taking a few days off is a privilege.

If I was at school and GTAV came out, I would wait until the weekend... education is more important that a video game, unless you want to be a bog cleaner..

Oh yeah, cause the kid taking ONE day off school means he's gunna be a bog cleaner? suicidal.gif

I know, they don't know how stupid they sound, lol ...

days off school no, days off work yeah. you are losing a day/weeks pay for a f*cking video game. lol.

I guess you live in a world where there is no paid holiday.. lol.

How dare anyone take a day off to play a video game, when their responsibility is to be at work slacking off and reading message boards...one day off for a generational game like this isn't a big deal, at least for the average cubicle warrior.

I really do not care what others do,but I'm not going to take a day off. It's gonna be weird having the game on a thuesday though. We usually get new games friday and play through the weekend.

I think taking one day off work is ok, because you'd be all day without playing, but if you go to school you have the whole evening anyways... but it's ok too, I'd do it.

My son is due on the 16th of september. so if he comes on time ill get 2 weeks paternity leave from work ( full pay ) to play gta v ( and look after my son of course ) its all in the timing.

my daughter was born the night TBGT released...

A year ago, or so, I was considering taking a day of when GTA V comes out, but not now... with a three-year-old in the house days off spent at home aren't as free as they were a few years back. (for me) I will waste plenty of time on V regardless.

I do think that I took a day off once and shot pigeons most of the day L.C. back in fall/winter of 2008/2009, but now things are different.

Booked from 15th Sep for 10 days to go on holiday... decided not to go. Then GTA 5 was given the 17th. It was meant to be biggrin.gif

It's not really sad at all. A guy can take a day or two off for a game they waited 2 years for.

Yes, education is a lot more important. I'm going to enjoy the best education system in the world for 8 hours

that day and after that I'll play V. It is all about patience, guys.

I don't see a problem with taking a day or two off for V, but if you take a week or two then you have issues in my opinion.

A day? I'm booking a week off for V!

A week? I'm taking a month off! smile.gif

Serious? If so awesome - I did the same for a cruise I went on. I'm thankful that where I work, it's very easy going for having time off. smile.gif

I won't be taking anytime off for work or college, but I don't think it's sad that people are taking time off to do something they enjoy. GTA games are not released that often so I think it's fine to take some time off and celebrate another great GTA game.

I have a paid vacation day scheduled for the 17th. I'm picking the game up at the midnight release so I can play it well into the wee hours of the morning and not have to worry about waking up for work smile.gif

The only thing sad is people who consider you a loser for skipping work/school. I feel sorry for those close-minded people who wouldn't miss work for a video game, but would miss work to attend an NHL game of their favorite team live. Some people are just stuck on their high horse, and thus look down on everyone else's hobbies/passions as if they're pathetic.

Like it or not, gaming is a very prominent hobby in today's society (only getting bigger) and it is no longer socially unacceptable to be a hardcore gamer. I see gaming as art - they are amazing experiences that provide countless amounts of fun and really provide insight into the minds of others (the developers). I'm very happy to be a hardcore gamer. smile.gif

Try saying that to my parents they hate me playing xbox all day.

And ill be playing V non-stop seeing as im now out of school tounge.gif

Well, its still better than going to a club and being retarded by dancing like and idiot and sticking your tounge to another stranger, there are people like that who makes fun of people like us who enjoys video games. Me and a couple of my friends have decided to not come to college just to go the game store to buy the game and go home to play it lol. I never really do this before, i usually wait till the weekend to buy a game but this time, it's going to be different.

People are stupid and are willing to put their life on hold for a video game. It will still be there when you get home from work/school so just wait. Playing video games should not be the number 1 priority. You should not blow of family/social events to play a freaking video game. Like come on.......

He was a bit over the top, but I definitely agree that it's stupid taking time off school/work to play a video game...

My college finishes for me at 4 so I'll be able to play V til my hearts content when I get home, plus the weekends. It'd be nice to actually go outside and talk to my mates about it at college too lol.gif sitting inside all day is sad as f*ck.

certainly not to sit in my house alone by myself staring at the TV. Don't get me wrong, I love video games and the GTA franchise, but I think there are more important things in the spectrum of LIFE when it comes to things such as being with friends/family, work, etc. than sitting inside playing a video game

Agreed. Garganda, I can understand your perspective, but a lot of us strongly disagree and you need to respect that. I'm sure there are things that people around you seem to love, yet you can't stand them - its kind of like that, only instead of us liking something & you opposing it, we are really passionate about something while you merely like it.
