MikeyBelic
I'm reading on facebook and IGN that this latest update is bricking the consoles of a majority of users that have downloaded it. If you don't know what bricking is then you don't want too. Just don't update your PS3's until we hear something from Sony, some people have done it successfully but it isn't clear what the situation is at the moment. To anyone saying I'm breaking the rules if I save someone $400 I'm more then happy to break the rules this once, this place has the most activity hence it'll reach the most people and prevent the most damage. Anyone whose already experienced the bricking or knows anything else on the situation please assist me.
MikeyBelic
Just found this. As I said I'm not sure how accurate these details are so I advise not risking it. http://venturebeat.com/2013/06/18/playstat...cking-consoles/ Thanks Ryder15 for finding this; http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/18/psa-ps3-...-45-firmware-u/ Edited June 19, 2013 by MikeyBelic

Ryder15
I just read about this, what he has done may be Considered Breaking the rules, but in saying that, WHO cares, he is doing a good deed, this may or may not help everyone, but a lot people are certainly having trouble with this new update A new firmware update for the PS3 is live, but a significant number of reports indicate it's locking users out of their systems. Posters on the official PS3 Support forum noted they couldn't boot their systems after the update, and some users said restoring file systems didn't resolve the issue. According to the PlayStation Twitter account, the 4.45 update includes trophy notification options and improves system stability - hmm. We've reached out to Sony to clarify the situation. While the issues don't seem to be affecting all users, it might be wise to stay clear of the update for the time being. DS 17
What does this have to do with GTA V? The OP gets some cookies of me He is helping to prevent all the people getting their PS broken. So although I don't have a PS3, nor this doesn't have to do anything with V, I appreciate it.

Johan
I give this thread a he is really sincere on helping people. It's not like Sony is not going to do crap about it, the most this will do is save your console (not all consoles are affected by it by the way, it's mostly the old ass ones) for another few days or so until there's a fix patch

5000 Staples
What does this have to do with GTA V? Please read the actual post before commenting. I did, and it has nothing to do with GTA V. He stated himself that he doesn't care that it's none GTA5 related. and tbh... so what? why are you trying to mod a forum for. If a real mod has an issue with it they will deal with it, not you so seriously, jump off this thread and stop crying. Thanks for the heads up guess I will just play TLOU single player till Sony tell us more. - also if you read the article its ps3 with 500GB or higher that its affecting According to website Engadget, the issue only seems to affect PlayStation 3 owners with 500GB or larger hard drives, but that’s difficult to confirm right now. Miss Darko
Thanks for the heads up, I was about to boot up my PS3 to play for a bit, and while I don't go online often, if I had felt like it, it could have cost me my console.

Only the old ones? Here's a quote from the official PS3 support forums; When I start up the PS3 Slim today, it reported that it required to update to 4.45 (the version that allows you to disable trophy notification during game play). After the download and installation, the system reboot. But after it display the PS3 logo, it went to the second screen (the flowing ribbon). It suppose to display XB next. but it never goes there. Just the flowing ribbon. I can not even shutdown the system by press the power button. (It bleeps, but the system didn't shut down.) So I tried unplug the power cord, and plugin again. Still same problem. Is there anyone from SONY here? Could someone help me to revert to the system before 4.45?

I've seen that being mentioned too, though I've seen the odd comment saying that there consoles that are smaller then 500GB have been affected. 500GB consoles tend to be the most expensive anyway so I would feel much relieved knowing it lol. LotusRIP
Big thankyou to OP for raising this issue. It has every bit to do with V as does anything... how can we even play it without a working console? This is the first I've heard of it and I wouldn't have known otherwise. If it wasn't for the OP creating this topic in the V section, I'd probably have a bricked PS3 right now and nothing to play GTAV on.
