I'm not complaining about the game, I'm wondering why are people wanting MORE city when they had CITY in IV. rolleyes.gif

That's like asking why we wanted VC when we had III.

Improvements.

Define city.

There are a load of screens with different cities/towns

What are you wanting in those different cities?

I'm expecting dense, somewhat tall buildings in a city about 1/4-1/3 the size of Los Santos.

A city by my definition is a population of 100,000-1,000,000

+1,000,000 = Metropolis

There is gonna be urban sprawl in v. I don't see a lot of tall buildings in the outer cities. Dense downtowns don't define big cities. Albuquerque and Phoenix are good examples. Pheonix is larger then Dallas but has a smaller downtown. It's cheaper to build out vs up out here.

Yes but (only for example) SF you CAN'T build out due to location.

Can I ask you, "What if there are other cities? Would you not like that?"

Having the vast amount of countryside PLUS hidden cities.

Big deal, it'll be the same thing, more space to explore and play in, just like now.

Now, they are the ones complaining and being greedy for more city, I'm guessing you're obe of those greedy people too.

Lol?

I'm just saying what I think about it, it's nice to have different types of 'environments' around the map than just one type. That's all ... rolleyes.gif

Did you read my question? What if we had the vast countryside with varied cities. SF, LV, and LS are all different environments.

It's a hypothetical question.

I agree entirely. Obviously, there will be only one major city in GTAV, but as already stated, quality is what really matters. San Andreas had three major cities, and each of them was bigger than Liberty City in GTA III, but I didn't enjoy it that much. It was great but not absolutely mind-blowing. The countryside and the desert were pretty cool, they added a lot to the game and it provided me countless hours of fun. But it wasn't flawless and it could have been done better. It was clear since the press release in November 2011 that there would be only one [major] city in GTAV. To be honest, I'm glad that it didn't turn out to be more. I'm glad that Rockstar decided to recreate only one city in their biggest game to date. I would like to point out that the surroundings will not be only slightly bigger than Los Santos itself. It will be significantly bigger than the city. GTAIV's Liberty City was greatly detailed, and up to this point, I'm still discovering new things. I'm looking forward to V and I'm looking forward to the years of fun and discovering, be it in the city or the whole map, or the game in general.

During the Technology, Media and Telecom Conference today, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on the company’s expectations for Grand Theft Auto V. Take-Two estimates the game to sell 18 million copies in its first year. Life-to-date sales of Grand Theft Auto IV stand at 24 million units. Pre-orders have been doing “very, very, very, very, very, very well.”

Take-Two expects that GTAV will sell 18 million copies in the first year? Interesting. monocle.gif Not a wonder, though, the current expectations [1.75-1.85 billion dollar -- $2.05-$2.30 earnings per share; 65% from Rockstar and 35% from 2K] for this fiscal year strongly indicate it.

Again, did you wait 5 years for a city, or a complete game with countryside and tons of features?

I waited 1 1/2 years from VC > SA.

I don't see your point? That they need an extra 3 1/2 years to do less?

Really? Did you just compare the time it took Rockstar to release San Andreas after Vice City with the time it takes them to release V after GTAIV? It's not at all fair to compare a title from the last console generation with a recent or forthcoming current-gen title. If you know anything about videogames, and with that I mean not only how to buy them, then you would know how redundant that comparison is. Not only because the development of videogames became more complexe over the years, but also the fact that you're claiming, even if not directly, that GTAV will be “less” of an upgrade/revolution, even though, you haven't played the game yet!

To the quality over quantity people,

Since GTA V is going to be Rockstar's biggest map, that would mean it's going to have less quality than their smaller maps, right?

Poor logic, false equivalence. What an idiot.

Kill Frenzy!

Say whatever you want to say, I say that I don't believe a word what Rockstar Games says about Los Santos and it's surrounding hills, countryside, deserts and beaches.

I believe untill the end that it will be Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and it's surrounding hills, countryside, deserts and beaches. Or atleast Los Santos and San Fierro or Los Santos and Las Venturas or Los Santos and Las Puertas (San Diego) or Los Santos and Vice City whatever, I say between 1-3 cities.

Poor logic

What kind of idiot creates a thread and uses a picture with imaginary streets drawn on it to somehow "prove" the screenshots of IV and V aren't comparable and then comes up with a size estimate for Los Santos that shows the screens are comparable?

You did all of that work and then proved yourself wrong. happy.gif

I believe R* didn't lie about Los Santos being the only major city.

You can have 10 different cities in the game and still have LS be the only MAJOR city.

They're like politicians. They choose every single word very carefully before releasing it to the public.

what on earth does any of this have to do with the thread you just posted in? do you like bakerach or something? is this you attempt at elementary school style flirting? all you talk about is bakerach. you are obsessed with him. is it the fact that he made you look dumb and now you cant let it go? either comment on the topic at hand or start a new thread in an appropriate section. this sh*t seriously got old a long time ago.

OT: i agree with the OP. los santos is huge, its full of detail and life, and its only part of the biggest game map rockstar has ever assembled. i cant wait to play it

I think it's the one big city and then little towns all over that combined are probably as big as the city.

I guess we'll see.

I wouldnt rule out city DLC either. Las Venturas or whatever for $15 to $20 down the road wouldnt surprise me at all.

I'd go with this if anything.

If you're given 3 cities then things aren't going to be original, and it'll feel more like a San Andreas clone.

Is GTA V a one-third San Andreas clone?

To the quality over quantity people,

Since GTA V is going to be Rockstar's biggest map, that would mean it's going to have less quality than their smaller maps, right?

Quality>Quantity. It may be their biggest map, but it's not going to be no where the size of Just Cause 2 or even the True Crimes games. Didn't you people say it will be around the size of 25sq miles or something? That's not that big.
