We have one city, it'll be fine

Anyways, we have Sandy Shores... so another similar sized city to that is always possible.

OP, your say R* wouldn't lie, but they already have told us things and that weren't true.

That invalidates that long ass post that was TL,DR.

in SA, I go to countryside because I have to travel from city to city, and you spend time in there.

(except LV desert / ghost town, i love purple sky and alone feeling)

if only one countryside and one city in V, I don't think I will goto countryside often.

so, if one city is true, I hope they can make at least SF and alcartraz into the same map in next episode.

It's like people expect Sandy Shores to be the only town in the countryside.

He's probably referring to property and customization

Yup, they specifically said they weren't in, then all of a sudden, in.

I don't know whether I'd call that lying to you. They said they weren't originally but maybe there plans hadn't developed to that stage at the time the question was asked, you'd never know.

Well we already know of 3: Sandy Shores, the unknown mountain town and Malibu. Plus, there seems to be another settlement at the foothills of the Zancudo mountain.

Oh my.

A DLC is released, you're a leader of a small rebel political group wanting absurd rights (bit like KIFFLOM) and you do a militant assault on this amazing rumored military base, funfunfunfufnunfunfufnufnfunfunnnnnnnnnnn

Absolutely agree, for me the only thing I wanted was countryside and a little more variation in the surroundings, something which IV didn't have much of. I'm just happy that I can go off-roading.

However, I do believe rockstar is hiding something, what? No idea, something.

Yeah it's obvious they are. Hopefully it'll be good and add to the gameplay experience but I'd prefer something else rather then a new city.. interactive caves? (:

If i had a pound for every time a topic regarding more than one city was started, I'd have enough money to buy the GTA franchise off R*. Except this time its with a tonne of unnecessary screenshots that have also been posted many, many times. Way to hit a double whammy.

This is actually about V only having one city and it being amazing and ringing out good old "quantity over quality" saying. The screenshots were just a little touch at the end because I got so excited writing about the game I wanted everyone to see some pretty pictures just to prove how awesome V and Los Santos will be! lol.gif

I can't wait to walk across that bridge as a train is coming, like this. biggrin.gif

There is no way on earth, ever, that R* would hide a city like San Fierro. Obviously I'm using this as an example because it seems to be such a popular concept. There are many reasons for this, but lets start with some of the key words that are most important when selling a product:

Money.Units.

Now, Take- Two estimate GTA will sell 18 million copies in its first year, hell let me give you the official numbers:

During the Technology, Media and Telecom Conference today, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on the company’s expectations for Grand Theft Auto V. Take-Two estimates the game to sell 18 million copies in its first year. Life-to-date sales of Grand Theft Auto IV stand at 24 million units. Pre-orders have been doing “very, very, very, very, very, very well.”

GTA alone will make up a large percentage of Take- Two's annual profit. So ask yourself, if R* have indeed included Los Santos or San Fierro (Or any other major city of your choice) do you not thing that it would of been used as one of the main selling points of the game? Obviously R* want the game to sell well, but Take- Two need it to sell well.

Now, there is no doubt that having 2 major cities instead of one, would boost sales. Even if that might be by a small margin, more sales are the name of the game. And there is no way it would be left a secret to discover, it would be the main selling point. We have been told officially, that it will be Los Santos and the surrounding hills and countrysides.

And as for the argument that originally customization and purchasable were not included, and then were suddenly included, that is because the game was still in development. They saw the features were desperately wanted and added them to the game. Which is a considerably smaller task than just chucking in another city.

1 city for 5 years wait for the lovely price of 120 quid... being ass f*cked by Rockstar.

What's better, a big pair of plain tits or nice size quality tits? ( Just asking lol)

A big pair of quality tits.

What kind are we talking about here, anyway? Big floppy sausage tits, empty saddlebags or bee stings?

I never said they lied, I said they told us things that weren't true.

This is exactly that. And the technical definition is lying.

I still believe there are about 3 minor cities/big towns (these can include San Diego and maybe San Fransisco).

I myself won't be disappointed if there is only one big city, but there should be some good towns then tounge.gif

we will see in about 1 or 2 months. Then the press can play with the game themselfs and we can read all about it in reviews. biggrin.gif

I think it's the one big city and then little towns all over that combined are probably as big as the city.

I guess we'll see.

I wouldnt rule out city DLC either. Las Venturas or whatever for $15 to $20 down the road wouldnt surprise me at all.

Remember the Liberty City mission in S.A? Yeah, wouldn't mind doing a similar mission with these three protag's where we rob the same bank Niko and the Mcreary brother's did only difference being we empty the entire safe then fly back to Blaine County lol Would that count as a hidden city? lol

Well that depends if you consider a bank to be a city. But as a bank is 100% not a city, no it wouldn't count.

That definitely won't happen. Such a DLC would be too big, take far too much effort to put together, and they'd struggle to make a $15 or $20 price point.

We will never get full cities as DLC.

The city/game world is the base of the entire game, it's what they work on most, everything else is then added in.

Sorry but you've said nothing new. There's also nothing wrong with speculation. This isn't SA but it doesn't turn it into SA even if there is another city.

Oh and btw, I can go outside or to California and see it for what it really is, a game isn't the best example. Not too sure what you're expecting in this game neither. Detail is a thing that people skim past, no one cares and it doesn't make a much of a difference.

You say that R* won't make city dlc, but I think that they aim to support this game for at least 2/3 years with dlc, updates etc. I think that with such a big fanbase (only growing with time), a lot of money and ideas and a long time span, they can create city/island dlc. This because they can harvest more money to create the next GTA and still earn money from Gta V. It wouldn't be that hard to create another city, because they already have already created all the models of Skycrapers, houses, pedestrians and cars.

With this in mind it would be a lot easier to create a new city or even a whole new island.

I am studying Interactive Design, and I know that creating a (good) model will need time. A house ain't looking like it is a lot of work. but remember that there are doors, windows (everything with it's own shadow), colors, different building materials etc. It will take at least 1 modeler up to three to five days (FULL TIME WORK) to create ONE house from scratch. There are probably over 300 different buildings in GTA V, so it would take about 10 modelers at least a half year (probably a lot more, because there are a lot more buildings I think) to create ONLY the buildings (without adding the physics, place where they should be etc.)

.

Now the buildings have been made, it would be a lot easier and they only have to place certain buildings on other places, possibly chance the color of the building, and voila. It would take the team of rockstar roughly a month to create a new landmass, put it full of buildings, peds, airports etc. Then they will take up 1 to 2 months to create another story, a few heist possibilities and a DLC is born in three months time.

So basically, copy and paste Los Santos into a slightly different layout and sell it as DLC? With the same cars, same peds, same houses, just on a different "Island"

R* creates their game worlds from scratch... They won't ever "copy/paste" their already existing buildings to make a "new" city.
