MikeyBelic Posted June 19, 2013 Share Posted June 19, 2013 I've seen some smart posts and evidence as people try to conjure this idea up, so credit to them, they really deserve it. However R* have said its Los Santo and its surrounding countryside (including Blaine Country) and I believe them, they have no reason to lie to us whatsoever and I don't believe they will. Come on guys, SA was fun and all but this isn't SA again, this is a new game and I for one and am happy to see new things. This engine is the pristine beauty of the last stretch of the seventh generation consoles and they're going to want to go out big with this one. If you're given 3 cities then things aren't going to be original, and it'll feel more like a San Andreas clone. If you guys want something different with San Andreas then jump on SAMP because that'll do it for you. This is the end of the generation, the last major game to be released besides Watch Dogs that will visit new things, not just a modified shooter like COD and BF. With one city we'll have a massive version of the beautiful city of Los Angeles. With one city they'll be able to put the life of the city in the game. THIS here is a thing of beauty. I don't live in LA but imagine if you did, putting the disk in and actually been able to pick out things you see in your everyday life, wouldn't that give you a unique feeling of beauty and strange awe? Now if they did three cities this wouldn't take place, sure they'd be bigger then those of SA but not as detailed as we'd really want and I feel given this is the last stretch of the current generation that this game needs to take it all, this game needs to show off the amazingess of the current generation and with one MASSIVE thriving yet detailed city it can be done. Remember we also have an ACTUAL proper countryside that I believe is 5% bigger than Los Santos. Compared to Red Dead or V the countryside of SA is piss weak and this space is needed to make a countryside feel realistic and viable, if there were 3 cities this wouldn't be a possibility. Remember we've also got the option of underwater exploration. This is something completely unique to the series and is about 20% of the map size, APPRECIATE what R* are giving us, the detail, the realistic thriving reception of a city.. it's just incredible. A few buildings out there, give me a save house somewhere out there in the boonies. Love it. Gives you a destination so you can race from one house to another and have somewhere close to save a vehicle if you picked something up far from Los Santos. While I agree about the beauty and all that this game will possess, I still think there will be another smaller city at the opposite end of the map from LS, or somewhere on the map. Also Houser was specifically asked why they chose to make "one large city instead of two or three" and he answered the question as it was presented to him, he when on to say that "to split that into two, you would lose what L.A is" but he never said they weren't going to include a smaller detailed city. Additionally since R* does the map 1st they could do L.A justice and still make a smaller city, and Houser also mentioned several things that wasn't supposed to be in the game in that same interview (character customization, property buying etc...) and we found of later that they were, not saying it's 100% going to happen, but also not going to totally dismiss the possibility either. IV was seriously lacking, I had to drive on the little beaches it had to simulate countryside for me when all I wanted was to get away from the city. So if this is the biggest most diverse map ever, there will be more than enough space for at least one other city. I really dont think any city in the area surrounding Los Angeles is big enough, or relevant and close enough to Los Angeles to be represented in a GTA game as a full functional city without detracting from the game. Like we all want to travel to Simi Valley in a GTA game and hang out with bros and hos? Or go up to Ventura so we can see a beach and farmland maybe some burned out surfers? Get my point? There isnt any city near Los Angeles realistically that anybody knows or gives half a sh*t about. And San Diego is not near enough to Los Angeles to be represented in GTA V if they are going for a realistic map. There are only frankly small cities in the areas around Los Angeles and they can all be summed up pretty well with something not much bigger than Trevors town. True, but you know how R* likes to be secretive about things, and I admittedly know as much about making a game as I do about how to build a nuclear sub, but I think it would take some doing to add things like code for changing player models to reflect the tats, haircuts and such, and more so to implement the property buying into the game and make it work into the world you have already built if I wasn't planned to originally be included, especially if it is more than just cosmetic, but man either way I'm stoked for this game, 9-17-2013 can't arrive soon enough. With GTA's they make the city first and the story after, by all means you might just be correct so no worries on that bro. Dude, I have to try not die up til 17th of September and believe me this is rather difficult considering the only ways to entertain yourself whilst waiting for V can be rather dangerous at the worst of times. People also forget it's not just a city they are getting but also smaller towns scattered around a vast countryside, an underwater world to explore and also by the looks of it a huge sky limit, perfect for skydiving. And if I'm honest the city part of the game doesn't really interest me that much as I'll be too busy cruising the countryside on a motorbike or doing drifting on the dusty dirt tracks in a sports car. I think it's also about perspective, looking at 2d screenshots really doesn't do it any justice and makes it appear smaller since all the screens only show a fraction of the city. We just have to sit on our hands and wait for R* to feed us with some more information about the map. And please take note the screenshots could possibly have been edited to look that guy (not saying they are.. but it's possible). People were expecting a much bigger Los Santos, the same way LA is much more spread out than NY and has more area to it. From comparisions it looks like LS is the same size more or less than LC. Plus they've already shown the city itself which is quite odd. It may be the most detailed city in a game to date but after 5 years of waiting for another metropolis for us to dive into, it's a similarly sized city which some people were not expecting. I personally think R* is just waiting to show off the Northern part of the map. I have a feeling either another smaller city is up there. Along with a military base we have yet to see but is confirmed to be in the game and a huge forest. And if not another smaller city I hope they pair the forest and military base with a handful of Sandy Shores sized towns. The highways leading North out of LS have to lead to somewhere useful. This is actually about V only having one city and it being amazing and ringing out good old "quantity over quality" saying. The screenshots were just a little touch at the end because I got so excited writing about the game I wanted everyone to see some pretty pictures just to prove how awesome V and Los Santos will be! I totally agree with this dude there should be 4 giant cities, each the size of GTA V and massive country side in between that's 3 times the size of the Just Cause 2 map and this all in GTA's detail !!
