Anyone have any New Year Celebrations planned? I am off to Edinburgh for the street party. Theres not a lot of interesting music on this year but its a good time. Last time I was there was for the Millenium Celebrations... that was pretty memorable.

From the edinburghshogmany.com

Highlighted as one of the ‘Top 100 things to do before you die’ and recently the only festival to appear in the ‘Discovery Channel – Top 25 World Travel Experiences’, Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party is one of the world’s greatest New Year celebrations.

Sounds pretty nice Zyo, hope you enjoy it and don't forget to send us some pics. First driving down to a place called Batemans Bay for brunch then i am driving back up to a place called Seven Mile beach with some other firends and will be there till 3 then I am having a dinner on the water in Sydney at 6 but unfortunately wont be able to stay for the fireworks at 9 due to having plans with friends in my area which is an hour away from Sydney to watch my local town fireworks and then after the fireworks, going back to my mates place till about 12.

Edinburgh is a wonderful place, I've visited several times during my uni years as it was only 2 hours by train. Got absolutely f*cked and nearly threw up while visiting the camera obscura. That sh*t be trippy!

I tried the Butterscotch Vanilla Sachets from Nescafe, it comes in a 10pk and it is alright, it has a light sweet taste but mostly still tastes like the original vanilla, quite nice for a change.

Ralph Lauren's perfume 1 is another nic change, going from CK one to step it up and try something different, it has a light smell with a watermelon like undertone, it is nice to use when you want a perfume which isn't heavy.

both are worth a try.

I tend to keep light fruity scents to the summer. For work and winter I like to go with deeper wood-like fragrances.

Btw has anyone heard of the OnePlus One? I got mine today after having been on the waiting list since September. Its replacing my Nexus 5 because the Nexus battery doesnt even last me one full work day so hopefully now with a 3100mAh battery in the OnePlus it'll be able to last me from morning til night.

I feel you on the battery life. I just upgraded to an Android from my 2003 P900, and the battery doesn't even last a week with little/no use. Not to mention the thing doesn't even get reception in the place I had full bars with my old phone.

It seems in adding all the features they forgot to add the phone.

Holy sh*t, you were using a P900 up until recently?!?!

You'd be lucky to have your phone a full day, let alone a week.

I had a Blackberry and an HTC in between, the Blackberry died after a year (would restart randomly, and Blackberries take forever to reboot from cold), and the HTC was unusably poor.

The P900 has always been my go-to phone because it just works. It has really solid basic functionality, i.e. I still get Bluetooth, camera, full organiser functionality and basic internet browser, so I've never felt left in the stone-age. The battery is actually 13 years old because it is from my P800, but it still lasts a week...these machines were built to be used.

My new phone is actually a gift from people at work who couldn't stand the idea of me using an old phone.

To be honest, I still don't get any use from the new smartphone stuff as I am always within reach of a computer throughout the day which I find much more efficient and less frustrating to use.

Which BlackBerry? I miss those days. I went through every iteration of the Bold, damn those were good times. What phone did your coworkers get you?

I think it was a 2008 Blackberry Curve 8900, I was gifted an HTC Desire Z.

At least it has a QWERTY keyboard because I can't stand touch screen keyboards. I would actually upgrade to a proper new phone if they sold flip-out QWERTY phones (i.e. full-screen plus keyboard) in the UK...but they haven't since like 2010. I was considering importing one from the US, but there's no point because the 3G wouldn't work.

I felt the Blackberry was a complete ripoff given you had to have a Blackberry-enabled contract just to access e-mail and the internet (premium of £5+ per month). I know it's because they offer full encryption, but I damned care if I'm just accessing my regular e-mail account or browsing meaningless drivel.

All those fancy phones and I'm still here with Samsung flip phone. Nothing wrong with it though, all I really need a phone for is to call and the occasional text.

I think I can safely say I use my phone more for taking pictures than anything else. But maybe that's because I have nobody to contact :'(

I'm still hoping for a fully functioning flipphone case for the iphone 4s that has a mic and a funtional keypad  flip phones bring so much nostalgia of when i was in junior high

That was the phone every kid had when I was in high school (graduated in 2006). The Motorola Razr.

My phone is nothing special. It's a low-end Android, but it does want I need it to. I mainly use it to browse the internet and forums while not at home. It's an LG Optimus L70.

I've decided it's time to get a "mainstream" racing watch.

Congratulations, enjoy it, back to the phone thing i first had a LG U8330 when i was 9 and it was an alright phone, a few features too for 2006 then i got rid of it in 2008, then i didn't have a phone till 2011 and then smashed that so then up until 2013 Christmas i got an S4 Galaxy and i love it, it really has been my life companion, i use it for everything i need it for, battery is pretty good and it is a reliable phone so far, thinking of upgrading to an Iphone 7 or 8 when they come out.

As you say "guess how much?" I think you got a good deal on it. Its a bit worn around the Bezel and the face looks badly scratched from what I can see of it. Somewhere around £50?

Edit:

The lettering looks a bit off too. You sure its legit?

I'm pretty sure it's fake (the second B is really slanted). It's also in pretty rough shape. So unless you got it free, you paid too much.

Yeah, sadly I'm fairly sure that's a copy and not a particularly good one. The original watches are sapphire glass which doesn't marr around the edges- unlike standard hardened glass which is coated and what the face on that one appears to be, at a guess. You shouldn't be able to damage sapphire glass with anything less than hardened tool steel.

Sorry mate, if it was more than £30 you've been had.

The misplaced letter must be some sort of auto stabilisation error in my camera as I checked it again under a magnifying glass and it looks in place.

I said it's authentic as I was even brought a receipt for it.

Upon some research:

1. The 'Swiss Made' logo at the base of the dial was very small, 3 mm in total approx- it should stretch all the way from the 5 to the 7

2. The date window should be located exactly on the the number 4, NOT in between 4 and 5.

3. The chronographs (the three smaller dials) should be touching the number bars.

4. On each smaller dial (there are 3) the numbering should be as follows...

Top left = 30 - 10 - 20

Top right = 60 -15 - 30 - 45

Bottom middle = 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 [All from top then going clock wise]

5. Finally- and this is important- is the overall weight. The fake watches are lighter only by about 10 - 11 grams.

All of this seens to match.

Yeah I reckon that one is. Markdown is believable. Pictures are crap though.
