Some of the screenshots in here are fan-f*cking-tastic!

I made a video of me beating the sh*t out of small enemies and this dude called Top Dog. There are several of them in the game and they are basically leaders of certain camps. You need to deal with them if you want to unlock more stuff. I hope you enjoy the vid, I surely enjoyed that fist fight

Just finished Mad Max, nice boss fight at the end

Car Combat and hand to hand combat is awesome but some of the side stuff is really tedious

I don't know if I should get this game or MGS V. It's been tormenting me for quite a while now.

Otherwise, since I don't own it, can you get into Gastown? Or is it just some unenterable fort of death, like the concept art suggests?

GasTown isn't enterable until you've unlocked the northern part of the map

Once you do, you can drive straight to Gastown if you want. Your car won't last long without some armor upgrades, though. Gastown itself isn't a huge explorable area aside from the tunnels in the Underbelly. It's not like a social hub or anything. This is a really fun game and I definitely recommend it but I think MGSV probably has a lot more depth. If you're on the fence, I'd say get MGSV first then wait for MM to go on sale.

Have you seen these videos about unlimited scrap? do you think it's worth it? I would rather play the game and explore then grind for scrap, I guess I would do it if I was bored, but I'm not, Mad Max is such a blast! The deep customization, fighting that I'm still getting the hang of,explore the camps and everything else there is to do.What an experience it is, very enjoyable.

I never ran low on scrap until close to the end when I was working on the last engine upgrades. That was only because I goofed and did the expensive scrap piles at Jeet's and Gutgash's strongholds too soon. Just clear the camps, make sure to grab every Scrapulance you see and do the cleanup and scrap crew projects at the strongholds. Hold off on the scrap piles until late game and you'll be set.

I get what your saying, I did Jeets scrap pile too, I wish I didn't, not going to make that mistake again. Thanks

So, I finally finished Mad Max, and the only word that comes to mind is disappointed.

Before you read on, I do mention some end-game stuff. Nothing specific to the story, but if you have not completed the game, and wish to have all of it be a surprise, do not read. I warned ya.

While the combat systems in the game feel good, they never feel super challenging unless you are getting swarmed by enemies, and even then, the hand-to-hand combat isn't super challenging. The vehicle combat can get difficult if you are surrounded by enemy vehicles, but you can usually jump out of the car to avoid dying, and then just dodge enemy vehicles until Chumbucket fixes the Magnum Opus up. And at later levels, you become super overpowered. The last car combat segment in the main story was so easy, I could one-shot all of the tier-2 armored cars, and the actual boss vehicle was as easy as driving up to each side and blowing up some gas tanks. Not at all difficult, which was terribly disappointing.

Speaking of the story, it can go by in a flash if you are not interested in all of the side activities, though the game forces you to do some of these. If I had not spent time doing other activities to unlock optional upgrades, my play time would have been way shorter, though perhaps the later segments would have been more challenging. Once you get to Gastown, the game's story gets interesting, but before you know it, it's over.

On the subject of the side activities, the camps all feel the same, and quickly become repetitive, as there are only three different types of camps: Oil transfer camps, pump camps, and legion camps. The first two types I listed have you going in and blowing up oil related things (tanks and pumps), while the third type is as easy as just killing everyone in the camp.

I count the Top Dog camps as something different, but you could consider them the same as well. These are the worst offenders, when it comes to repetitiveness, as the game has you go into a camp and fight a mini-boss. Sounds interesting, and it was the first time I did one. But then you realize that all the Top Dog camps are the same, and the mini-bosses are just reskins. They have very lame combat techniques, and are very predictable. Dodge, attack, dodge, attack. Repeat until dead.

The convoys are also all the same, and once you have done one, the rest are predictable. One strategy will work on all convoys and Top Dog camps.

The worst part, for me, was that I hardly ever felt like I was playing Max and not some generic wasteland survivor. It only got worse when I had to upgrade my jacket and ended up looking like some U.S. soldier during the Gulf War. Max ends up wearing all this tactical military gear, and you have no choice but to use it, as the game sends more and more enemies at you and you need the extra protection.

To me, Max has to have the classic jacket and his Interceptor car, both of which get taken away at the beginning of this game, before you ever get to use them. After the main story is complete, you unlock these things, but his car isn't as powerful as the fully upgraded Magnum Opus, which makes using it pointless.

As far as the upgrade systems go, they are pretty damn good. I didn't really care for some of the cosmetic changes you could make, as I felt they were half-assed, and used for busy work, in the case of paint jobs for the Opus. I really don't see why tuning a car for speed requires me to have a silver paint job, but I guess I'll go fight the same old Top Dog to unlock it, so that I can use the Speed Demon. There are only six or so paint jobs, and most of them are garbage, like the rust paint job you start with, and Stank Gum's paint job, which just looks horrible compared to everything else in the wasteland.

On top of that, Max's different head styles sounded cool in concept, but it turns out that it's just three different hair lengths and a few variations of them, all locked behind ranks. I mean, my reward for getting to the top rank of Road Warrior was an upgrade for my ammo holsters, and a third variation of the long hair and beard style, this time with a bandanna AND goggles. I really didn't feel rewarded for getting to the top rank at all.

I enjoyed upgrading Max's abilities, through skills and scrap, as well as attributes and Griffa Tokens. That part was very well done, and I could feel a difference when playing as a fully upgraded Max.

The atmosphere of this game is probably it's best selling point, as you really feel like you are in the wasteland of the movies. It's absolutely beautiful, when it's not glitching out graphically with pop-ins and frame rate drops (on PS4, I might add), or when the cutscene audio starts to lag behind the animations, DURING THE LAST MISSION OF THE GAME. That really ruined the final moments for me.

So, yeah. I regret paying full price for this game. Parts of it were fantastic, but having also just finished up MGSV, which was a very well polished game, this one just felt like a let down. There were too many glitches, too many repetitive/reskinned sections, and too many obvious objectives that are designed as busy work. That last one wouldn't be too bad if the busy work was fun, but it wasn't.

I'd give Mad Max a 6.5 or a 7 out of 10. As a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise, the atmosphere had me sucked in until completion, but the glitches and repetitive missions and camps really bugged me, as well as the lame cosmetic options and the strange character design for Max when upgraded to the top gear, which made me feel less like Max Rockatansky.

Uhhhh... pretty sure this is most people's first Mad Max game as well since at least according to Wikipedia outside of this game there has only been one Mad Max video game adaptation which is from 1990. Have you seen the movies?

Those are the movies, I didn't even know you could buy movies on Steam. Anyways I highly recommend watching all of them. Road Warrior and Fury Road(which came out this year) are especially awesome.

Also I haven't actually played the game so I'm probably not the best person to tell you tips though I hear it's not all that different from a lot of open-world games.

I'm pretty close to completion the game I think. Steam says I've played it for 56 hours. I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Don't think I'll be going for 100% completion though. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Love this game. Got it last week for my birthday and I am in no rush to finish it. Im on 36 hours and have just reached pink eye. Just wish there were more/random event convoys as I love the feeling of being in the middle of a mad max car chase.

focus on story missions until you've unlocked the Big Chief V8.

then go back and do side missions.

you want that V8 as soon as possible.

I'm stuck trying to get the mission big chief v8 it says 4/3 wastland missions complete but no one giving wasteland missions! I'm lost what do I do? and I found a glitch in a camp that won't let me pick up scrap I walk over to it, but it gives me no icon to pick it up, very frustrating. I noticed a audio glitch also but reloading the game fixed it. I'm on PS4 This is game is really long ..........
