Voodoo
I agree wholeheartedly with the above two posts. I'm about 20 hours in now and have barely touched the main story. The melee and car combat is extremely satisfying and the huge amount of challenges you complete to level up are paying off through normal gameplay. It always feels like there are new upgrades to unlock and new places to explore. Plus, the wasteland is huge, varied and gorgeous. Early game in Jeet's territory. Last night on the way to meet Pink Eye. D'ya like dags? There's a free cam feature for taking screens. PhoGarrett
i've been umming and ahrring about whether or not i should pick this up.. looks like fun If you're a fan of the films and love the environments and sets from them then you'll love this game, the whole game is gorgeous and while lacking in story it makes up for with fun combat and great exploration. Also, I saw we were sharing pics so here's a small dump of some I've made: Buzzard fight! A more Wasteland-ish photo I love dodging vehicles in this game, ridiculously tense. About to talk to Pink-Eye, what an unfortunate nickname. And Chumbucket criticized me for being from the US of A. Must be a damn commie! Thalyn
I really wanna play this game and see how it compares to the feel of the movies. I hear the PC port is really really good and it runs well on almost anything. I could probably get a consistent 60fps with the MAX settings. Sadly my PC has been rebooting while playing games lately and I'm not yet a 100% sure what's causing it. I don't know your rig, but on my computer (i7 4770k, GTX 780, ram 8GB and Win8.1 again), this game runs wonderfully. That's a very nice optimized game (on pc)! The "auto-settings" are on "High", and the game runs very smooth between 110 and 125 FPS (120 most of the time) at 1080p. Just for fun, I put my settings on "very High", and the game runs between 90 and 120 FPS (110 most of the time). Yes, the map is a "desert" (not very greedy then), but there are lot greedy things in this game like : details, lot of visual effects, smogs, particles, fire, explosions, lighting, the timecycles are very nice, the textures are real HD (distant and nearby textures), very good 3D models, the characters are very realistic ... I'm impress by this game. I thought this game will be more greedy on my computer, but, it runs like a charm... and I thought this game will be "very light", just a f*cking "merchandising product" (like 99% of games from movies...), but in fact, we have a real game. The gameplay is very "consoles game" (like 99% of AAA games unfortunately), pretty easy, and the physics for the cars is not very realistic, but the game is fun and very pleasant to play. The game is designed (for the missions, secondary missions and map occupation) like "Far Cry3". Compared to the movies, I don't know if this game has the same feeling. I haven't see the last movie, but I know the old movie, and until now (10% of story), the atmosphere is pretty close of the first movie. I'm very happy with this game, it's very rare to have a very nice game based from a movie, and here, it's a success.
Vertighost
Is the game set in Australia like the original movie?, I'm yet to see the remake movie. Are the accents Aussie or Actors faking Aussie, or not even Australian? I would get the game just for the fact it's in Australia if so...(Borderlands the pre-sequal wasn't the best, yeah it's not Aus, but basically is a sci fi pseudo version of it)

Also if you looked at my previous posts here I gave the team props for getting a legit Aussie voice actor to play Max, not sure about the other VAs though. Vertighost
Okay sorry I didn't see it... Watching a let's play now, They've even added some faded Australian Army camo to his shirt/top which was surprising. The game looks really awesome, I'm not sure whether to get this or MGS V TPP first.

Really? I heard a statement from the devs somewhere that there wouldn't be limits to the map(which people assumed meant that it procedurally generates terrain when going out of the central area). Also that's kind of an uncreative way to limit the map lol.
Vault111
I heard that aswell and that there's supposed to be rare loot when you go there or something, I had literally only been driving a minute or so into it when it happened. Vault111
So I tried going into the big nothing on a different part of the map and the same thing happened again, Max's health dropped rapidly. I'm a little disappointed in this as it was supposed to be a unique feature to the game's map that there was no limits to how far you could drive on the edge of the map. bloatedsack
Big Nothing: It's supposed to drain your health, but there's supposed to be random mothaloot chests or something. Someone used a health cheat to drive for like an hour, it really does generate random nothing out there but they saw nothing. I actually thought there was supposed to be a sandstorm present, but there's not on the video I briefly looked at. Framerate: On PS4, I saw a couple drops outside of Gastown, which is a pretty graphics intense area (it's filled with smokestacks burning impurities, so loads of fire and smoke in the sky). The rest of the game has run very smoothly for me.
Vault111
I've no problem with your health being drained in the big nothing, my problem is that it drains so quickly its only possible to survive for any amount of time using a cheat. When the developers themselves said before the game came out its a dangerous place to venture too but there was a chance of finding rare scrap so it was supposed to be like a risk versus reward type of place not death in less than a minute without cheats. And I've noticed some bad framerate drops mostly after some car combat on the PS4
ZHPbim
Got this for the PS4 last night and I'm really impressed. I dont really care for the car handling but thats because I'm a car game fan. The rest of the game thus far has been great. The graphics are pretty incredible too, especially the f*cking storms!!! Only real complaint which doesnt even apply to most people is that they didnt even re map the controls for the Vita, and you cant remap them yourself. I just got a Vita a week ago and love playing GTA on it. This game you have to accelerate and brake with the rear touchpad and its horrible. They couldve atleast remapped them for the bumpers. Oh well.
RyanBurnsRed
Has anyone travelled into the Big Nothing yet, I tryed but the "Your entering the Big Nothing" sign wouldn't go away so I went back I've tried 3 times. Once near the beginning of the game. A second time with fully upgraded health and armor for both Max and the Magnum OP. Then a third time yesterday chasing loot during a sandstorm near Gastown... All three times I died. So much for driving off the map until you get bored. If you go too far then the storm just eats away at Max's health and only his health and nothing even shows up on the mini-map to signify any loot nearby. What a sham. El Dildo
What a sham. seriously? who gives a sh/t about the Big Nothing. you guys are going to complain about a part of the game which isn't even a part of the game. the game is inside the game world. the game is not outside in the skybox background. just because you heard a rumor that you're supposed to be able to drive around out there and you can't doesn't mean it's a sham

Corndawg93
I like Max's commentary on random things, like his dialogue during Pink Eyes Wasteland mission where you have to find the Chapel, must say if they kept the American actor instead of making the right choice of switching to an Australian, it's would've been the same Edited September 9, 2015 by Corndog93

Richard Power Colt
Some interesting thoughts from TB in regards to this game(and about reviews in general). Haven't played the game yet, but I can get behind a bit of repetition as long as it feels like there's always a meaningful progression going on for me. I thought Far Cry 3 was pretty repetitive though and a lot of people loved that game so it's hard to predict exactly how I'd feel about Mad Max. El Dildo
I've been playing Mad Max since last Friday and I gotta' say almost everything about the game is awesome and gorgeous. it looks great, it's really fun, the sound effects are incredible, and the combat is fantastic. taking on a group of roadkill in your death machine using a combination of your harpoon, explosives, flame tanks, and shotgun blasts is so damn cool. the on-foot hand combat is equally satisfying as you string together bone crunching chain combos, breaking necks, body slams, disemboweling a guy with a shiv, setting another on fire, slamming the last one against the wall and twisting his spine. the map is huge. exploration is always rewarded. there's so many upgrades to unlock for both Max and his deathrod. the car can be customized like this is Need For Speed: Twisted Metal, so many options for both style and weapons and defense. Max can upgrade the way he looks, the way he fights, and the gear he wears which allows him to carry more and punch harder. upgrading yourself and the car means you need to scavenge the wasteland for parts, scrap, and upgrade plans. these plans also apply to your home base; in addition to upgrading Max and his ride you can upgrade the various strongholds where you live and work. strongholds can improved with numerous additions that allow it to support more survivors. you watch your base go from drab and sad (literally, people crying and dying around you) to a fully-functioning village with people working on projects and starting families and kids running around laughing. basically you build infrastructure to expand your base with things like workshops, water collection, maggot farms, etc etc. I'm loving everything about this game. even the screenshot editor is incredible. these are all ingame captures in realtime that were simply paused for the screencap. https://imgur.com/a/siS7t https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/related/3jaxjv/loving_the_mad_max_screenshot_maker/ Edited September 9, 2015 by El Diablo beretta-gt88, Dnero and AZAZEL
