esmittystud101
I wish there were not so many games coming out in the near future or I would have gotten this. I still may down the road but highly unlikley with all the games I will be busy with. Sept. 1 - MGSV:PP Oct. 9 - Uncharted : The Nathan Drake Collection Oct. 23 - Assassin's Creed: Syndicate Nov. 6 - COD: BO3 Nove. 10 - Rise of the Tomb Raider March 16 - Uncharted 4 (probably delay though) I'm hoping to start seeing more reviews come out for it. The only one I saw was a 6.5/10, I have a feeling though, it'll be a 7.0 - 8.0 average review at max from what I saw online so far, which I'm still okay with, as long as I'm having fun but In that case that its getting low reviews from everyone, it will probably be just plain Moto Storm to me. To each his own though, some players might be getting this tomorrow and waiting for all the ones on my list. So, cheers it up for the Austrialian accent, he might make it after all. El Dildo
I know people are already complaining about vehicle handling and the lack of guns, but this game is still on my list to pick up sometime after work this week. maybe Wednesday night. I was a little hesitant to preorder but I'm still really interested to give Mad Max a shake and see how it feels. the atmosphere and game world itself looks great. swirler
Liking it so far. Not the prettiest, but it runs like absolute butter, so gg Avalanche! A couple of odd default controls, Im sure I'll get used to it.
bloatedsack
I know people are already complaining about vehicle handling and the lack of guns, A lack of firearms is pretty much canon, though. The first post-apocalyptic Max movie had a sum total of two firearms and probably less than 10 rounds shot (I think the Humungus fires seven total, and Max gets three, plus one shell that crumbles and one that's a misfire). I'm still waiting to read reviews, or really, I'm still waiting to go find reviews. Probably tomorrow at work because why would I do something productive for my employer? Rebel
The lack of guns doesn't bother me. To be fair I've yet to see an enemy with a gun apart from the sniper towers. It makes me happy because I can run around fighting mofos with my hands and stuff. Steering sucks but Im pretty sure it gets better the more you put into your car. Maps huge. Storyline so far is good. The voice acting is a little off sometimes. Needs multiplayer.
PhoGarrett
Needs multiplayer. Meh, no multiplayer is fine. I'd rather have a great single-player experience rather than a mediocre campaign and mediocre MP. Can't wait to play it later. Kinda the same, only popped up on my radar the other day. Was an impulse buy from a cheapy site. Still finding the controls odd, who thought LB+B to aim/fire was the best choice? Game feels like RAGE meets I Am Alive. Do like I think graphically its a let down but is currently being given a pass as people seem that impressed that it works and runs great day1. Thats more of a statement of how sh*t AAA launches are getting than anything else tho. Some dodgy textures around and it *really* doesnt make good use of high res at all See how closely you have to look (without expanding, obviously ;p) before you can tell which is which (1080p vs 2160p)
Daz
Really not sure if I want to get this or not. One hand it looks great, on the other I am worried it will just be a glorified collection game. I don't like the look of the fighting, and there doesn't appear to be any proper shooting mechanics. Is it just the car sniper, and the sawnoff used as a melee move?

bloatedsack
FWIW, I think you're rright, and later car upgrades run better.. When I stole one of the warboys' buggies it was positively responsive with actual tires versus the very awesome looking wooden dougnuts with rubber nailed to them. Also, if you change to "alternate controls," it adds a handbrake. I don't know what else it changes, but I do know that shooting leaves the O button, not that I mind that. Ammo is scarce enough I sort of like that it got moved out of the default spot, and besides, when you hit L1 to slow time it makes you sort of think before you pull the trigger. So far, I'm pretty happy. I'm going to restart though to pick a different car body, I think, and then just go for it. I opted for the Falcon because it looked better, but I feel a bit silly with literally the same car that the real Max own(s/ed), and I'd rather do something a bit different. But yeah, I do like it after a couple hours in.
Input
Played it all of yesterday, very cool game. The sluggish handling is only for the real early stages of the game. After you start upgrading your engine and tires it gets way better. All around fun game to play, haven't had any negative experiences so far. Is it just the car sniper, and the sawnoff used as a melee move? I've played the first few hours of it and as far as I opinion goes I thought the fighting was good considering Max felt more like a brawler than a martial artist, he doesn't have the speed and agility of Batman but he still packs a punch. The sawed-off shotgun can be used to aim but you can't move while aiming which I assume was to avoid the game becoming a 3rd person shooter. PhoGarrett
Pros and Cons with the game so far: Pros. Vehicle Combat is ridiculously fun. Max feels different enough from Batman in combat for me to have to adapt my play-style a bit. One of the few games in recent memory that got me excited for searching stuff. There's a weapon called the "Thunderpoon". The sand storms are f*cking excellent, every sound and how the environment interacts to it is just perfect. Love how the reputation system lets you upgrade and customize your Max. Props to the team for getting an Australian voice actor for the Max role. Environment truly captures the essence to be in the wasteland. Cons. Generic story. No one else from the original movies, not even a cameo. (I may be wrong about this but so far only Max seems to be the only link to any other Mad Max canon.) Chumbucket should've been replaced by a rogue War Boy as for some reason I really hate Chumbucket. Maybe it's the voice? PS4 exclusive hood ornaments that expire in two months. Why not just give it to players anyway? Not much other cons from me but they are pretty big ones. Missed opportunities that Avalanche Studios either couldn't or wouldn't take. RedMachete
The game has its faults but its just so much fun to play. Avalanche have done a great job bringing Mad Max to video games, the world/map they created for this game is incredible. Its a very easy game to get immersed in. WWEMichaelB
I'm fine with no multiplayer myself. A good open world single player and party chat with friends while playing the game is just as fun imo as a multiplayer.

Richard Power Colt
I really wanna play this game and see how it compares to the feel of the movies. I hear the PC port is really really good and it runs well on almost anything. I could probably get a consistent 60fps with the MAX settings. Sadly my PC has been rebooting while playing games lately and I'm not yet a 100% sure what's causing it. Stormingz
This game worth the full price? I enjoy open world games and I like the concept, I've seen the movie (classic one) so I guess I know the lore.
RussianCommie
I too have the same question whether this game is worth it for the $60 price? I saw Mad Max Fury Road (latest one) and I LOVED the movie, it's a good film that I can watch over and over without getting bored of. I've never seen the classic ones, but as far as I know, they all hold to the same plot or rather close to the same plot. I've been wanting to actually get this game, but I've really hesitated and am not sure. Any opinions would be much appreciated and the help . trip
It takes a lot of game for me to sink hours into...and this game is a lot of game in my book. I've sunk many hours and it still feels fresh. I was concerned that the Mad Max world might get a little repetitive(and endlessly desert'y) in game form but they seem to have a good formula here. Good character/skill progression, there is enough of a story, good verity in missions and open world randomness. The wasteland actually works a lot better than I had expected it to work for a long haul game setting. I'd say this game is well worth the full price. It isn't a throw away game by any means. And hey...I was really worried. You don't see a whole lot of movie license games work out well. Actually, most of them suck balls. Toss in the fact that I grew up seeing and loving the Max Max movies in the theater during release - I had/have high expectations for anything using the Mad Max name. El Dildo
This game worth the full price? I enjoy open world games and I like the concept, I've seen the movie (classic one) so I guess I know the lore. ok so I'm late to the party but I finally managed to install Mad Max last night. after playing for only a few hours I can say it's totally worth the price of admission. I haven't done very much aside from explorer the basin where you start off but it's already very obvious; this is the game I'm going to be playing until Fallout 4 drops if not longer. for me Mad Max has almost everything I'm looking for so far. the environment, the atmosphere, the feeling of possibility, the upgrades, the exploration, the collection, and some really old school style chaos. the vehicular destruction is so very nice. the scarcity of firearms is perfect. for once, the slightly over-the-top combat and action feels balanced and warranted. plowing into another ratrod and watching it explode thanks to a well-placed cow catcher is super satisfying. driving around in Mad Max is giving me some serious Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8 vibes and it's awesome. popping out of your deathrod to crack bones and bust some heads is equally rewarding. and the game seems pretty large, can't wait to see what else is out there in the wasteland.
