If its gearing towards a US timezone for the actual download time then its going to be silly for me to bother in the UK. Also, I went to Tesco today (UK Supermarket) and asked them about this midnight release - apparently they haven't had a word from people if they are doing it or not. But he said maybe. Its a 24/7 store though, so I don't see why they wouldn't. I'm going to keep on asking the guy before the 17th rolls around though. He'll have to say at some point. If he still doesn't know, I'm just going to drive down at around midnight and check. Might bother him enough to the point where he gives me it and tells me to f*ck off haha. lazloisdavrock Posted August 21, 2013 Share Posted August 21, 2013 The Xbox 360 Discs max capacity are 9.5GB, so, if Grand Theft Auto V Disc 1 is only 8GB, the Disc 2 could be between 8GB and 9.5GB, the totally Grand Theft Auto V size on Xbox 360 is between 16GB and 19GB, the files on it are compressed, but according to Chris Grant (Rockstar Games Web Developer) everything who has on the PS3 version has on the Xbox 360 version, let's go to the point, how the PS3 Discs are 50GB on max in dual layer Discs, the PS3 version should have between 25GB and 30GB uncompressed Rockstar confirmed that installing both discs will be a little over 15GB, so disc 2 will be slightly over 7GB. As far as we know it'll be 12:01 AM PST. Normally it's local time though. So I should be able to download it at 12:01 EST. But we'll see what happens on the 17th. For EU it should follow GMT if it doesn't follow local time. So when it's 12:01 GMT it should be available for download. As for 24/7 stores. A midnight launch isn't necessary. I've heard reports of people actually getting the game a few hours early. Some stores might even decide to put it on shelves a few hours early. Especially since it's GTA V, and it'll be the biggest launch of 2013 after The Last of Us. So you could check at around 11PM and if they don't have it stocked up just wander around for an hour and head to the electronics section at midnight. @Lugermorph: It's just Franklin unfortunately. The EU store will probably go by GMT time since it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to have the EU store follow PST time for unlocks. You'll find out on Friday when the EU store opens pre-orders for V. When you check out it tells you what time the download can begin. It stated it right there when I was checking out with V that it was "12:01 PST on September 17th, 2013". I also sent R* a support ticket asking them to clarify about the timezones and if it's going by when it's midnight PST or midnight in whatever timezone you are in. If/when they respond I will post it here. That's USA and Canada though - there's an entire world out there that rely on GMT and others. I'm just asking because it would make no sense to say its released at midnight on the 17th when that could be different times for different places around the world. @ Everyone - thank you for clearing it up. Is this normal for psn preorder? Will the download simply be a preloaded version that will unlock on the 17th?
