Hell yeah, preordered!!

Now the real wait begins. September 18th, 3am (for us East Coast gamers)

edit: how is GTA V only 15GBs!!! That's crazy. It's a massive open world game, TLOU was 26GB

It's a typo. We'll be downloading it midnight on the 17th!

But unfortunately, for the East Coast, a "midnight release" is still 3am.

3am?

@Showstopper 26

Yes. Because timezones.

When it's 3 a.m. on the East Coast it's midnight on the West Coast. East is ahead by 3 hours.

I was expecting that but I remember when I got AC3 and MLB 13 digital my downloads all unlocked at midnight my time instead of midnight PST. But meh.

That's awesome. But its a shame that you cannot pre load the game ready for the midnight launch. That would be so much better, I'd so go for this, but It takes me roughly 6-9 hours to download a 10GB game. So it would be technically easier for me to just wait for it to come in the post. However, if it doesn't arrive on the 17th through my door, then I shall pay out any money and start downloading it from the PSN Store. At least then, I'll be playing it before my game arrives on the 18th (if it doesn't arrive on release day)

I've recently been thinking about adding a SSD to my PS3 so I wonder if textures and everything would load even faster if you had the digital copy on a SSD. I have the CE on pre-order and I don't plan on cancelling. I guess I can see if there is a lot of texture popping like on Skyrim or RAGE and get the digital version if there is a problem. In a game this big, I could see textures and maybe draw distance being impacted by digital vs physical. I would imagine the DLC code from the CE will likely work with either.

Hmmm . . .

It's really not worth it, very few games take significant advantage of it and some even load slower with it. You also won't get anywhere near the SSD's potential speed due the PS3 using SATA I and besides that, the console wasn't made with SSDs in mind. If you want a faster HDD look for a hybrid drive or just a 7200RPM one which can shave off a few seconds and maybe stream a bit faster.

Microsoft will most likely not have it day one digitally. They are really lazy in that department. It's one of things I hate about Xbox. The soonest I've ever seen a game released on "games on demand" was about 3-6 months after it's release in stores.

Anyway, I'll probably wait a few months for V anyway and buy a copy from ebay. Not that I don't care about V, I'm just always strapped for cash.

Why on earth would people download? You won't get to hold it in your hands and be able to smell that fresh game smell, admiring the artwork and booklets included inside. What is wrong with people?

Oh thats right, people got fat and lazy. I bet you walk to McDonald's pretty fine though. Time to get out of mommy's basement and see the real world.

When I buy games, I have them delivered to my house. Not much difference from downloading really. I'd much rather be able to come home after a hard days work and not have to go out to the store and pick up the game. That way I can shower while it's installing on my Ps3 and when I'm done, it'll be ready to go. Guess the real world changes after you grow up. cry.gif

You live on the East Coast? When I preordered The Last of Us, game wasn't available to download till 3. Maybe AC3 and MLB were different?

My choice depends on the PSN price. It's nice to have the physical copy and all but the truth is that I have never used the included map and manual, and the physical disc does nothing but add background noise and inconvenience. Still, a new GTA game is something special, but the 75% discount on another Rockstar title is also tempting. Dilemma incoming...

I got a physical copy of Last of Us but my friend got digital and he downloaded it at 3 a.m. Same timezone as me, we're both on the East coast.

As for MLB and AC3, yeah I do recall those were midnight for the East coast. MLB definitely was.

Doh!  Just ordered Special Edition yesterday.  Oh Well, at least I'll have a shiny case and a big map.

Why don't you cancel it? Or is it payed off already?

I thought the same thing, thats why I waited so long, but it charges your CC when it's shipped. Atleast from R* don't know about the other pre-orders. It's ok my mail/ups gets here pretty early. I figure the SONY servers are going to be real S L O W on the 17th anyways. I bet a lot of people will be trying to DL at the same time.

@ above, yeah i think the same thing, but its funny just ordered and now it goes digital lol

I want to buy but i can't because with my internet speeds it'll cost me 2-3 days delay ;( so i can't risk it

and I want to ask 75% discount will be on upcoming Rockstar title as well? thanks

Cheers

It sounds like any game that is already on PSN, no future titles.

Is it bad to leave my ps3 on for 4 days to download GTA V

You can even pause the download and turn off the system if you really needed to. icon14.gif

But if your ps3 is in an open enough space it should be fine for a real extended period of time.

Letting people who pre-order GTAV digitally buy Agent, which supposedly is coming "soon", for 25% of the full price would be an own goal by Rockstar. I guess they are doing it to increase back catalogue sales, because they know that there is no way in h*** that people want to pay the standard price for GTAIV, RDR, MP3, etc. after GTAV has made them look like demos.

It's in a pretty well ventilated space thanks

The SE and CE in-game stuff will probably be DLC in the future. I wouldn't expect it shortly after release, though.

As for the 75% I do believe that applies to current R* titles already on PSN and it's for a limited time.

Just asked them if the DLCs coming along with SE and CE editions are compatible with PSN digital download and they confirmed.

Not sure bout the GAME where I preordered or other retailers but it's good news for those who pre-ordered at Walmart because according the product descrition on theirs site they'll send the codes via email.

You can pre order the SE/CE digital? Is the CE cheaper since you're not getting the physical stuff?
