Theodore93
The damage control continues: Taking to Reddit, Jesper Nielsen stressed the team is committed to releasing a game that expands on the strengths of past titles when it comes to core gameplay, and there'll be plenty of content available at launch. "I cannot stress this enough; there will be more than 8 maps!" he wrote. "Also, the amount of content in the game has absolutely zero to do with DLC. I can say that with all honesty. "As for expanding on strengths of the previous games; I think most people will find that it does expand on the strengths of the previous games, when it comes to core gameplay and what the feeling of a Battlefront game is. Just my two cents. "Please don’t make me break what I can and cannot say, but if you think there’s anything we’re not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you you’re 100% wrong. In this project, I’ve never heard anyone say 'Let’s not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC instead'. Ever.” http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/04/22/star-wars-battlefront-dev-addresses-dlc-concerns So... 9 maps then? As for DLC, it'd be nice if that were true, but I don't see why anyone would believe a word of it, especially coming from an EA rep of all people. Finally, Nielsen talked about his hopes for the future, saying: "I hope there will be many more Battlefront games, and if DICE continues to work on them, that we’ll continue to expand and improve." Uh-oh. If I weren't so cynical, I might think that was a perfectly reasonable, even welcome statement but even vaguely talking about future games at this stage seems like a bad move to me. Tchuck
I wonder how the public reaction to the game would be if footage from the cancelled Battlefront 3 hadn't been revealed. Gamers are an odd bunch. They complain when things change, and complain if things remain the same. Games should be exactly what the gamers want it to be, except when there is some random argument then games are also a form of art and the author is the designer(s) and their vision should be respected. It's all a big mess. But I get it. All the f*ckups AAA publishers have done recently, it's hard to not be cynical. It's been 10 years since the last game, and knowing what was in development before, it is easy to dismiss anything that is short of what we would love to see. I'll just wait to see how things develop with this game, but I'm not going to pre-purchase. It's not going to be the battlefront of old; it will be something different, which can be OK if done well. I'd love if they were to release a demo a couple months down the line to show us that the game is actually good. Not many devs do that nowadays, releasing demos, as they don't want to drive players away in case the game sucks and will only sell based on hype. Coin
They've said at least two maps per planet. It wouldn't surprise me if the final count ended up being 9 maps, though. It's what BF4 and Hardline shipped with. That won't be so bad so long as the maps are good. Hardline suffers a little in that a lot of the base maps don't really feel like they were designed to accommodate all game modes. Hopefully that's avoided here. I don't feel the campaign is a fair point. Previous games barely had a campaign, it's a stretch to call em that. Class vs loadout is here nor there and a stupid comparison. Both give you freedom of choice in the way you play the game, it's just the emphasis has been shifted. And honestly, it's just irrelevant. Lets see how customizable loadouts are and how many options there are within. Heroes point is retarded. Only 2 playable heroes? Hah. Both Heroes were Empire-aligned. Use some f*cking logic. Vehicle types point is moot. Several already confirmed playable and the AT-AT being on rails isn't really a problem IMO. Certainly not as big as has been made out to be. A.I. players is here nor there. We don't know yet. Release date is irrelevant. It would be a more fruitful and fair comparison to compare this reboot to the original Battlefront, instead of trying to treat it like a sequel to BF2. Anyway, let's see some f*cking gameplay. may fourth at least. Killzone3265, MadeBrazen and Tchuck
tuff_luv_capo
I don't think anyone is intentionally jumping the gun to say this is going to be a bad game. Trailer was great. I'm okay with 8 maps. Hell, I would be okay with 6. AT AT's on rails? If it works and is balanced, no problem. No space battles? I wasn't a huge fan of them anyways, and if it allows them to focus on more important stuff, all the better. What bothers me is taking away very simple, core features that 95% of the BF community even played the game for in the first place. In this instance: Instant Action. tuareg
I'm not too fussed about no space battles either IF they make the dog fights enjoyable, but i just can't see them being anything other than battlefield jet reskins. Admittedly though that would still feel cool. Seriously if i can pilot my own at st (doubtful) and/or play something along the lines of air superiority with x-wings and other starships i'd buy the game just for that. RedDagger
I'm not too bothered if it isn't really similar to older games in the series, I'm just hoping it isn't too similar to modern military shooters...i.e. battlefield. It feels like it'd just be a waste if it's a BF skin.

NYC PATROL
That sounds like plenty to me. Plus they said that doesn't even include the 2 free DLC maps. So that's 14 maps come December. Edited May 5, 2015 by NYC PATROL
Coin
12 maps but some are tailored more to specific game modes, which reads like the extremes won't be playable on them (close quarters and walker mode, I assume, as the extremes in size). Which is fine to me, as I mentioned a few posts back, one of Hardline's issues re: map design with everything being playable on all game modes is that some maps just don't feel right or flow well in specific cases. MikeyBelic
I hope there's an amazing campaign like the Battlefront campaigns of old where it never centered around a certain character but battles in the star wars universe, that was awesome. I'll also flip if there isn't an offline match mode like there was in the first two. They were awesome and never got tiresome or repetitive. If it's just online then that'll blow majorly. That been said they've got to get the online perfect and it wouldn't hurt if there was some sort of online campaign also focusing around certain events in the star wars universe going from 1 - 6. Infact that'd be amazing. The game is set around the entire saga and not just 4 - 6, right? --- Haven't been following it too much of late, is this all true? The game lets players choose to control either a Rebel Alliance soldier or a Stormtrooper. The game includes cooperative missions which can be played offline but does not have a campaign mode. Players can complete the missions both independently and withbots or another player; the game supports split screen.[8] The game's online multiplayer mode supports up to 40 players in one match and 12 multiplayer maps will be available at launch Edited May 5, 2015 by MikeyBelic

I was a Junk
Disappointed to see no campaign. The missions are okay I guess. Also no instant action seemingly? (unless it's been confirmed somewhere else but haven't following the news that much or am I dumb and instant action is split screen?) Hype is definitely going down since I just don't enjoy online gaming that much. I really loved the prequel maps in BF 2 so this saddens me as well. Sir Michael
From the looks of all of those articles saying that we can arm ourselves with what we want, one can assume we're about to see a whole mess of dudes running with blaster rifles and missile launchers with med kits or ammo packs. I'm just saying this out of my ass, but if that were the case, it's going to be MW2 One Man Army all over again.
