i classify the area above the large mountain to the north, east of that which we havent seen yet

Okay, then I have to disagree with you. We have seen what is east of that and it is a mountain, the mountain in the screenshot of the plane going west. The road even curves to the south after the big mountain and I have also shown the few buildings, the one with the rocket ship, on the western flank of that mountain. If there is anything behind that mountain it just can't be pretty big if there is not a single big road even leading to it.

Just to type out where I think something is located.

 

Okay,the buildings in the satellite dishes screenshot show a view facing north. On the right you can see what is Mt Alamo. The lightning doesn't strike the main peak of Mt Alamo but the peak to the left of it. Mt Zancudo is behind the satellite dishes but a very small part is left of the satellite dishes.

From the above you can check the contours, which match.

The plane screenshot is not referenced because of the mountain but based on the two roads below it. The same exact farm can be seen in another screenshot.

 

And no, the highway makes a sharp right from the perspective of the plane, which is south.

 

And the lighthouse is to the south of the mountain you can see in the back. It is at the mouth of a river which streams from the east of the Alamo Sea back into the ocean.

 

You may want to check the screenshot I linked to with the yellow plane. You can see the big mountain, Mount Alamo in the back. To the east of that mountain there is mountain pass between Mount Alamo and the mountain range on the east. That pass is where the white/grey Cuban 200 plane will fly to if he makes a sharp right.

 

The following car is on driving on a road slightly south of that particular pass. The car itself is driving north.

How do we know? Well because the mountains you can see can be seen from the south in other screenshots facing north.

Your point? Of course they are hiding something but the problem is that some people tend to jump to conclusions and think it has got to be a city.

 

Anyway, the road sign agent pointed to doesn't show any text on it. It is the freeway leading north from downtown. Vinewood Hills is on the left.

 

I wonder if that freeway actually goes north west after the hills north of Los Santos. It just doesn't make much sense to me if the freeway just goes north east to connect with Interstate 5, Los Puerta Freeway.

 

Maybe there is a freeway behind the railway bridge in the back of the following screenshot?

They must be hiding an area somewhere along this freeway. Also have a look at 0:24 in trailer 2. More blank green signs.

to the 1st part there, do you mean along the coast? I hope so, as they're are bound to parody the Pacific Coast Highway

 

As for this above, pic, what is the name of this dusty town & across the lake there, is that the trailer park from

game play trailer?

the town looks like the lost town where they show the lost on bikes in the gameplay trailer, deffinatly a different town than sandy shores

That is the screencap of 0:24 in trailer 2. I find it odd that there is no text on those signs because I don't really see what they could spoil. The freeway we are looking at is once again Interstate 5. The right lanes are facing west. After it passes the wind turbines the road's direction changes to south and it will eventually go west again into Los Santos.

 

4:28 in the gameplay trailer is the same exact section of the road as in the above screenshot only this time a car is racing east. The road signs are extremely blurry but it seems there is text on it this time. They are the most blurred I have seen, so far.

 

Maybe the road signs weren't all done in trailer 2 and the text was added in later? It would explain why it does seem that the same signs in gameplay trailer may have text on them even though it is rather excessively blurred.

With the first part, I just mean a freeway behind the railway bridge. This is still on the south east of Mount Zancudo, and not the coast. The west coast seems to have a road without a median. The west coast road also seems to connect to the north western section of Los Santos. It is the road which goes through a town which looks a lot like Malibu (on the west coast).

 

The little dusty town is west of Sandy Shores. I have no clue what the name is though. And at the foot of the mountain (Zancudo) you can indeed see the trailer park with the bikes as stated by Zms.

 

I must say I lost track there for a second with all the replies and re-watching a bunch of trailers over and over.

This screenshot Reminds me a lot of Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad CA ( San Diego ).

 

 

In real life, that Lagoon borders La Costa. Both La Costa and Carlsbad are nice areas with manicured trails to walk around the lagoon. Which it appears is included in the screenshot.

 

That lagoon is only several miles from R* SD btw.

 

I know we are not clear on what is the in mid and north east part of the map, but the more I think about it the more I believe it will mock the coast line from LA to San Diego.

 

Additionally, Oceanside ( Huge military town ), is directly next to Carlsbad.

 

now this is not an additional arguement for SD, rather for somewhere like Carlsbad.

Are we sure this is zancundo? Just in all the other shots of the river it seems its always in more of a canyon?

If anyone is still wondering where they could be hiding other towns, I'd say this is a good area to speculate on.

Honestly, the game wouldn't be that great if there were multiple towns. There would be too much and then Los Santos wouldn't look that great in detail. If it was just one city in San Andreas, maybe the graphics would have been better.

Yes, I am sure it is Zancudo river. In the postcard below you can see that the canyon you are thinking about is north of the mountain (with indeed a separate river) whereas the skydiver is south of the mountain.

 

 

Just to note. The bridge you are seeing is a different bridge than the one you can see in the plane screenshot. The river widens further downstream and that is where the bridge is which leads to the supposed military base.
