unfortunately I have no way to prove it, but I'm pretty sure already have seen this picture when I was playing GTA San Andreas.

I know that the Epsilon project has been around since SA, that doesn't mean they couldn't have sculpted the map roughly around the eye patch imo

It's not about cramming them together to see the total "city area", it's about how their place on the map makes the map feel larger with different things to see and do. For example, I'd rather have 5 small towns instead of another city the size of 5 towns.

I agree but I was talking more about the city size in total been bigger. I thought that was obvious.

If you go back and re-read my post I said Los Santos seems small. This is based on screens. I'm well aware it could be bigger than it seems as you can't tell the scale of things from screens. I'll find that out when I play the game. Bigger than GTA IV is fine if that's the case. Adding the towns to the mix it's even better.

There is no city in the north east corner of the map. In order for there to be a city there needs to be a good sized road leading to it and there isn't. There is a village on the west flank of the mountain in the north east corner and the road runs alongside it but there is nothing indicating there is a split in the road leading into the mountain to come out at the other side so there just can't be a city there.

 

In the lighthouse screenshot you can see the same mountain in the north east corner and here you only see a dirt road leading towards the north which again shows us there can be no city over there.

 

The only place where there can be a decently sized town based on various screenshots and screengraps is east of Salvation Mountain.

How can you know?

As far as I know (and I can tell because I have been following every single bit of information ever since I completed GTA IV) we haven't seen a single thing of the North side of the map.
