Correct me if I'm wrong but I swear Rockstar didn't reveal that a rendition of New Jersey would feature in IV until the last minute? I certainly believe a portion of San Diego is possible..

Nope, even the very first trailer had a shot of Alderney with a recognisable New Jersey building.

If I remember correctly it was known fairly early that there are 5 boroughs, but everyone though the fifth one is based on Staten Island instead of New Jersey.

I think that's like the third time I've heard you say that. I'd agree but it still doesn't give this thread proper closure.

Fun Fact: I work for a video game development company (ok, volunteer unpaid moderator on their offical forums but still it's "work") and there is this fancy little thing called a Secret. I've (and everybody else who works in any kind of PR position for any gaming company) had to flat-out lie to people (consumers/customers) many times telling them "No that game doesn't exist" or "No you can't do that or this in the game" or "No that feature isn't in the game" when I damn well knew that said game did exist, you could do that & this and those features really were in the game, however I (nor others that knew) were allowed to tell anybody until they were Officially announced/revealed. That's just how the industry works.

The people (probaly poorly paid if paid at all) who do the replies to the R* emails & other social networking things basically have a giant notepad file that contains generic answers pretty much every possible question related to the game & those are the only answers they can give on those subjects especially in they related to unannounced content. Those people could know every single detail about 10 cities in the game & have been playing them for months yet they can't say a damn thing other then that generic canned answer when asked about it no-matter how much they know that generic answer is wrong and/or misleading.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying "OMG that's 110% the case here", I'm just saying that people that ignore how the industry works are just making themselves look ignorant.

As I worked for a videogames site, known and talked with PRs and developers, I can confirm.

I also think that any user may understand it on its own if he has a bit of experience on videogames world.

The case of Metal Gear Solid 2 is the most relevant, official informations was a thing, real game another.

Rockstar is promising big surprises, I do not doubt there may other big cities (like San Fiero and Las Venturas)

You can't get us to stop, kjacked. Because this thread will stay strong, and as long as that happens, we'll keep speculating as much as we want.

I'm kind of losing my hope because of that message from Rockstar, but just answer this why would Rockstar have so many things to give reason for speculation. Why would they post those things without knowing what they were doing?

You can disagree how ever you want but there's no doubt that those are buildings in the background.

That this is the same resemblance of the Gaslamp Quarter arch in San Diego.

user posted image

I'm sure Rockstar knew exactly what they were doing when they made that screenshot. Their not idiots. They knew it looked just like the arch in San Diego. Why would Rockstar even reference it without realizing that San Diego has the SAME, EXACT, LOOKING ARCH? suicidal.gif

Why would they close-up on this interstate 5 freeway?

user posted image

It seems like it's the only freeway in GTA V that is based off of the real interstate. Rockstar knows that Interstate 5 connects to San Fransisco. suicidal.gif

But there isn't really a place where that city could be, right? Only the eastern part (and a few little parts of the map) is still unknown for us. If there is another (decent) city, Rockstar sure did a good job at hiding it. tounge.gif

I cant believe this is still debatable. Paleto is the only other significant "city" in the game, and its nothing close to SF or LV like stature

I don't think so.

Mostly cause I'm not so sure your Bay City isn't out there.

It can't be proven that the pic w/ Trevor in town & that Bay drug store is actually Paleto.

There are multiple large mountains in the game & Bay City could be behind one of them (NE or E part of map).

& I think it would be roughly the same size as Paleto.

I do agree that nothing's going to be close to LS in size or even LV, SF.

its sad how bad you fail. the worst part is you dont even realize it. interstate 5 connects damn near every major city in california. in fact, in one form or another, it runs basically from mexico to canada. the funniest thing about all of that is the fact that one of the only cities it happens to miss is san francisco (by about 80miles). do a little research before you post your ridiculous theories. at first i didnt mind you making yourself look like an ass but im almost starting to feel sorry for you. rolleyes.gif

This game is meant to be a re-imagining of San Andreas and is not meant to be a HD version of GTA SA. SF and LV are simply not a part of this new game.

so let me get this straight....

you posted a sign of interstate 5 and told me to stare at it to rub in my face the fact that interstate 5 (according to you and you only) runs straight to san francisco. you did no research to substantiate this claim (pulled it out of your ass) and made yourself look like a complete ass since san francisco is one of only a few control cities in california that this monstrous interstate highway happens to miss completely. after all of this.... you are breaking my balls about geography? sigh.gif

I don't need fucking geogrophy lessons from some one who had to copy and paste from wiki. You don't even under stand the argument.  How sad.

so let me get this straight....

you posted a sign of interstate 5 and told me to stare at it to rub in my face the fact that interstate 5 (according to you and you only) runs straight to san francisco. you did no research to substantiate this claim (pulled it out of your ass) and made yourself look like a complete ass since san francisco is one of only a few control cities in california that this monstrous interstate highway happens to miss completely. after all of this.... you are breaking my balls about geography? sigh.gif

How did you not realize that I was trying to say that San Fransisco is close to Los Angeles on Interstate 5? ... Dumbass. (And closer to San Diego)

how did i not realize what you were "trying" to say? hmmm... maybe because you said this...

"It seems like it's the only freeway in GTA V that is based off of the real interstate. ROCKSTAR KNOWS THAT INTERSTATE 5 CONNECTS TO SAN FRANCISCO" kindled

and in 10 seconds of researching something that YOU posted as fact i found this...

"One notable control city that Interstate 5 does not directly reach is San Francisco, which is about 80 miles (130 km) west of the highway."

which led me to the conlusion that you are completely full of sh*t and research absolutely nothing before touting it as fact. suicidal.gif

As we have seen on all the license plates, GTAV's Los Santos is located in San Andreas. However, in GTAIV I seem to remember San Fierro and Las Venturas still were located in San Andreas. So it really doesn't make sense how the new San Andreas is an island without these two cities. After all, both games are part of the same universe. I'm not really expecting them to be in GTAV but their absence would be equally hard to explain, unless San Andreas has become a state consisting of multiple islands. I believe we will see San Diego parodied in GTAV because of the obvious hints.

How am I supposed to argue with you when you just make stupid quotes. Whatever, you'll just never realize what this topic is for. But I can't blame you, your grammar gives everything away.

e1999KrayzieBone

M'kay so Rockstar said "reimagined Southern California," not reimagined "California." Let's put the San Francisco hopes to bed. San Francisco ain't Southern California.

I don't think there will be another city, and it doesn't bother me. What really bothers me is that LS appears to be the most southernly part of the map in terms of land. I was really hoping there'd be a Mexico representation, like Tijuana or something. I think since Mexico was by far my favorite part of Red Dead, I have really wanted a representation of Mexico.
