It's hard to believe that GTA V is 3x bigger than SA, RDR, and IV combined with just one city and small surrounding countryside. I've seen the mapping thread, the map looks puny.

Totally, totally wrong. It's SA, RDR and GTA 4, not all of them 3 times, and that's including all the water and interiors. The map is effectively Liberty City and 2 RDRs combined in size, probably about 1.5 San Andreas' size.

Rockstar did say "3" times larger than those games. I can't find a link right now for it, but when I do, I'll show you. smile.gif

my point exactly... this guy has no f*cking idea what hes talking about. suicidal.gif they said gta v is bigger than gta san andreas, gta iv, and rdr combined with room to spare. they also said the landmass is 3.5x rdr, and the whole map (underwater area and interiors included) is 5x rdr.

You're responding to the wrong person, unless you're trying to say the other guy was wrong.

"27"

no... im responding to you. you are wrong as wrong can get. somebody already posted the link and myself as well as about 2 or 3 others have already pointed out the fact that you made the 3x bigger than all those game bullsh*t up. youre wrong. thats a fact!

You have a serious problem. Some anger issues, I mean.

wow! you can deduce temperament from reading text yet you have trouble reading. youre a strange cat! btw we are all still waiting on that link you were gonna post to back up your (false) statements......... yawn.gif ..... sleepy.gif

You are very immature, plus your grammar is horrendous.

Calipatria (formerly, Date City)[4] is a city in Imperial County, California. (pop 7705)

If the "town" in the pic in N) is based off of it, which it very well could be considering how much the one area

resembles salvation mountain, then why can't it be called a city. There's going to be a place called Bay City,

regardless of how big it is.

same with the place on the other side of the mountain (Paleto?). It's pretty significantly sized.

It has a major highway going through it, tons of buildings, some industrial looking places, & even a more residential

looking area near the point of the coast. To a lot of people that's a small city.

It doesn't have to have sky scrapers, or be famous, or even have millions of people to be a city.

cit·y (s t) n. pl. cit·ies. 1. A center of population, commerce, and culture; a town of significant size and importance.

For Blaine County, Paleto could be just that.

A city is a relatively large and permanent settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from

a town within general English language.

To me, R*'s statement implies there isn't going to be anything close to the size of LS.

It doesn't mean some of these large towns can't be called cities.

i totally agree with you. the towns we have seen are good sized settlements. basically all a town has to do to be a city is classify itself as such. as you just stated there is no size minimum for city status. my point is it was very clear (at least to those with common sense) suicidal.gif what rockstar meant when they said los santos was the only city and there would be numerous small towns and villages sprinkled around the map. if anyone thats talking sh*t to me in this thread would read some of the posts i have made in this thread you will see where i never said there wouldnt be any towns or villages. as a matter of fact ive tried to steer the discussion towards the small towns and villages that will be in the game. the only point ive tried to make is las venturas wont be in gta v, nor will san fierro, nor wil san diego, now will any other large metropolitan area.

@josephene, yes everyone knows that rockstar has said yet people still think san diego or lv or sf will be in the game suicidal.gif your point?

Please get off this thread. We don't need you.

I'll post this again.

@NYPDMatite Hey guys, To clarify this for you, GTAV is set in the massive city of Los Santos and its vast surrounding hills, countryside and beaches. While there won’t be multiple cities, you can expect the biggest, most dynamic, and most diverse open world we've ever created.

welp, confirmed no other cities.

R* wouldn't say this so close to the release if they were still "hiding" another city.

Do you know that according to official information Solid Snake was the main unique character of Metal Gear Solid 2?

Anyway, I clarify my position: I don't say there surely are multiple cities. But there are hints and questions which make me think that is possible.

I won't be disappointed if there aren't other cities. I just think there are some chances that Rockstar will make a surprise.

It won't be the first time.

GTA San Andreas had a lot of hidden features whose Rockstar never talked about.

Reading some users, it seems that someone is even irritated that there are people who hope in San Fierro and Las Venturas.

I don't see what is the problem if someone want to hope.

I wonder if LV and SF exist in the HD era. I'm sure there will be some kind a reference to the two cities in game. Probably just a cameo. Can't wait to play this game.

The biggest easter egg/trolling/surprise ever in the history of video games (ah, I love Metal Gear Solid 2).

Hideo Kojima made believe everyone that Solid Snake was the main character.

Only after the first reviews and the game release the truth cames out: Solid Snake was a secondary character, the protagonist was Raiden, a character never showed in previous screenshots and trailers.

Haha that's pretty brilliant.

In regards to other cities in GTA V, I'm not going to say there is or isn't as some people in this thread so boldly claim. But I highly doubt there is, especially after this latest comment. I'm content with what I've seen of Los Santos as it looks absolutely fantastic so I don't really care either way.

They exist, they've been mentioned the San Andreas just isn't the same as it was in GTA:SA. It could be a series of islands that are too far apart to build bridges between.

On the TV in IV they had the Las Venturas poker tournament and flyus billboards list both as destinations, atleast I think, I cant remember if they had an SF billboard

i love how people still deny the direct info from rockstar saying los santos is the only city. they tell somebody about once a day on mouthoff emails, and now with seafoams post, and the game informer q and a yet people still think lv or sf or sd could be in!lol to clear up the confussion no one is mad about people doing so. i do find it entertaining though.

I cant believe this is still debatable. Paleto is the only other significant "city" in the game, and its nothing close to SF or LV like stature

its not debatable. some people are just that hard headed. i agree that paleto is good sized, as is sandy shores, but its very clear that rockstar was referring to those places when they said towns and villages.

i always was one of the crowd that thought for sure the town would be named bay city because of the drug store pic. no matter the name it is a very good sized town and will add greatly to the gta v experience. im excited for the heist/heists that takes place there as well

Fun Fact: I work for a video game development company (ok, volunteer unpaid moderator on their offical forums but still it's "work") and there is this fancy little thing called a Secret. I've (and everybody else who works in any kind of PR position for any gaming company) had to flat-out lie to people (consumers/customers) many times telling them "No that game doesn't exist" or "No you can't do that or this in the game" or "No that feature isn't in the game" when I damn well knew that said game did exist, you could do that & this and those features really were in the game, however I (nor others that knew) were allowed to tell anybody until they were Officially announced/revealed. That's just how the industry works.

The people (probaly poorly paid if paid at all) who do the replies to the R* emails & other social networking things basically have a giant notepad file that contains generic answers pretty much every possible question related to the game & those are the only answers they can give on those subjects especially in they related to unannounced content. Those people could know every single detail about 10 cities in the game & have been playing them for months yet they can't say a damn thing other then that generic canned answer when asked about it no-matter how much they know that generic answer is wrong and/or misleading.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying "OMG that's 110% the case here", I'm just saying that people that ignore how the industry works are just making themselves look ignorant.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I swear Rockstar didn't reveal that a rendition of New Jersey would feature in IV until the last minute? I certainly believe a portion of San Diego is possible..
