Doing other cities just didn't seem appealing. Doing small towns is very appealing. There's a bunch of small towns and villages and whatnot in there to discover and play around in. Doing other cities, though, felt like it was going to create problems we didn't need. It wasn't going to add to the experience. Of course you could do a game with a bunch of cities now that could be pretty interesting, but we didn't think that was going to be this game. exactly. los santos is the only city. end of story. ill bet anyone any amount of money that los santos is the only city in the game.

exactly. los santos is the only city. end of story. ill bet anyone any amount of money that los santos is the only city in the game.

Well I clearly ignored the fact that there's less than intelligent folks on here.

I didn't think I needed to explain the whole thing as this is exactly like the "La Puerta Fwy" sign thing.

Also the comparrison between Bay City Avenue in one pic & the sign for the aparent pharmacy in the other pic

starting with Bay seemed obvious enough for people to make the connection.

I guess not everyone is so quick minded.

But yes, it says Avenue, thank you for pointing that out.

Main thing is that this E3 screen with sportcar and police car (check a link) made in San Diego prototype. It's only thoughts. But I'm sure: there are some little towns in Blaine County for sure.

We know GTA V is bigger than SA, IV, and RDR combined. Let's compare what we've seen of V to the other maps...

 

The cities of IV and V look comparable enough:

That takes care of GTA IV. Now let's look at most of the countryside of V that we know about and how it measures up to RDR:

In the GTA V pics, some areas are included in more than one picture, so you're seeing the same area twice. I think RDR covers more area than the countryside of V that we've been shown.

 

That still leaves this much area left to fill:

The image above doesn't even show most of the small towns or any underwater areas of San Andreas. It's hard to believe there's not another city in GTA V considering the size of the map and all of the area they have to fill.

And it looks like there may be city buildings above the engine on left.

It doesn't look like the ones from LS sky line.

If you look at the actual airport building above Trevor, it looks like a tiny little building, too small to be a big city airport. To me it looks more like an old desert airstrip or small airport with LS in the background

If you look at the actual airport building above Trevor, it looks like a tiny little building, too small to be a big city airport. To me it looks more like an old desert airstrip or small airport with LS in the background

Isn't LS or it has to be a separate island, otherwise it makes no sense.

I meant left side of pic, sorry, not the actual left engine which would be on right side of pic.

I see the power line tower. but to the left of pic is buildings, I count 4. & given the distance away they appear pretty large.

Also about the gas lamp sign,

 

1. There is no reason they couldn't incorporate small landmarks from San Diego into LS. I mean its based off LA mainly but its also described as "Southern California" and SD is pretty similar to LA in many ways.

2. That sign looks more like the entrance of a hotel, not a city district.

R* confirmed when switching to trevor waking up around that the Alamo Sea that this was the South east part of the map Which is weird because it defies what we think we know about the map . We will have to see .

Ah ok I see what you're saying. They could be part of a City or even medium sized town, however they could also be a Prison or maybe part of a factory or farming silos, or it could even be some sort of Casino or Resort type of place.

yea, that certainly would screw up pretty much everyone in the mapping thread. I wonder if anyone has tried making a map based off the wall textures in trevor's trailer & the house he blows up? if you layed the blueprint map (sized accordingly) over the wall texture, it would leave one heck of a big area of map left.

Wanted to add some Epsilon Tweets from a ways back:

The directions they provided where to that contest to be one in the game.

& I know they've said "join us in LS" but they do pluralize centers.

Though it could be they just have multiple centers in the city of LS.

My thinking was that the lighthouse from the screen saver doesn't seem to be near LS, ofcourse it could have nothing to

do with this anyway.

Has anyone ever realized that R* said that the game is supposed to be 3 times larger than GTA SA, RDR and GTA IV combined? Ever realized that they literally meant if you were to combine GTA SA, GTA IV, and RDR's maps, GTA V would be 3 times bigger? Keep that in mind.

Has anyone ever realized that R* said that the game is supposed to be 3 times larger than GTA SA, RDR and GTA IV combined? Ever realized that they literally meant if you were to combine GTA SA, GTA IV, and RDR's maps, GTA V would be 3 times bigger? Keep that in mind.

Ok but that includes all the detailed sea-floor area which the other GTA games didn't have so it's not like the above water area is that big alone.

this is correct. & to stay on topic, it's one of the reasons it's hard to believe there isn't something much more out there.

 

K) This is supposed to be the largest map R* has done. So what, we get a decent sized city & then 8 times(or whatever) that in woods & water. even with enterable buildings & a ton of underwater, that still leaves a lot of room on the map for land & possible major cities (granted, smaller than LS)
