What year will GTA VI - the next numerical sequel - release? Delays included. So if you guess 2019, and the game gets pushed from 2018 to 2019, you were correct. Not counting spin-off games such as handheld games, 'stories' games, or any other GTA titles which don't have the number 'VI' in the title. I am referring strictly to the game titled 'Grand Theft Auto VI'. What year will it become available in stores?

Personally, I think the huge waiting gaps between GTAs are gone. I have hopes that R* will push out GTAs more frequently. I'm guessing GTA VI will release in 2016.

HOW'S ANNIE?

Since next gen development time is supposedly quicker, I would say 2017. I've also got a feeling Rockstar are only going to be sticking to numbered games now, so the only spinoffs will be handheld/mobile.

Now it's time to, again, use some common sense.

It took 5 years to develop GTA V. The game isn't out, yet. But we all know it's going to be the quintessential GTA. Packed with a lot of sh*t. Three amazing protagonists, vivid city, lots of opportunites, details, etc.

Now, it wouldn't be too difficult to create another GTA. Rockstar can go into a whole new direction. Reduce it to one protagonist again. Make him customizable for the first time, I mean, fully. Or whatever.

But however that "whatever" turns out to be, it will take a long time for GTA 6 to be released. GTA V will now shine for years. And the next games will probably be Agent, another Red Dead title or something new.

GTA VI will have to wait. Or better yet, we will have to wait for GTA VI. However, my mind is far far away from that. GTA 6? Seriously. I don't give a f*ck. GTA V is here, 3 months away...enjoy the time NOW, you can still have your little fantasies about it.

And when we finally hit September 17th, it will be the sh*t. Three outstanding protagonists, lots of detail, lots of sh*t to do. Can't decide what to do first.

2020. The gap will probably be even longer as now they have to explore their own proprietary engine for the next-gen consoles and they need to learn them, it's not gonna be an easy process.

I'm not sure when to expect the next Grand Theft Auto title, but I'm sure that I will enjoy GTAV and other future titles until then. If I would have to guess, then I would say around 2018.

That's an important point to consider but on the other hand, it isn't necessarily correct. Developing videogames for the current generation of consoles isn't all that simple and especially the start was difficult. The best example would be GTAIV, in this case. The game was delayed by half a year because of the complexe programming of the PlayStation 3 and the very limited storage on the Xbox 360. Not only was the programming of the Sony console more complexe but it was released a year after the X360, and the developer kit was not all that good organized either. A lot of games, including GTA IV, had the Microsoft console as lead-platform and that was another disadvantage of the PS3. But the whole situation is different now.

Both, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One use the x86-architecture, which is basically the exact same platform as PC, and it's a lot easier to develope games for this architecture, compared to the one of the PS3 and X360. Less complexe programming and also the fact that future 'main' platforms (PS4, X1, PC) share the same architecture make the development of videogames less of a hassle. The result would be either shorter development times or bigger revolutions with each new title, provided that the 'interval' of the release of videogames from the same game series stay the same. It will be possible to use the full capabilities of the next-generations consoles a bit earlier than usually; some time before the end of the console cycle.

Rockstar will create a modern Vice City, probably twice the size of GTAV map. That combined with improving the AI plus developing a new engine will probably take 5 years if we're optimistic. So, I would say 2018-2020.

Hey, look on the bright side, at least we will have a new Red Dead and probably a new Bully game until then . Maybe even the forgotten Agent will be finished .

That's very likely to happen in 2014-2015. If not...

Yeah, and then there is the possibility that Agent was cancelled altogether. It's not very likely but it's not impossible either. I think it would make sense if Rockstar releases the game at the start of the console cycle, especially if it's still a platform-exclusive title. Perhaps, to give Sony an advantage this time since they had a number of disadvantages with the PlayStation 3, at least in the beginning.

Sorry but discussing the next Grand Theft Auto title at this stage is a bit premature given that GTA V isn't even on shelf's yet.

We should be waiting a while after V's release to consider making topics about this.

When a dedicated section has been made for the next GTA title, then you know it's the right time to make topics about it.

Locked.
