MMG
Any modders/developers know if the cars in the past GTAs were 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? If 2 wd, there should be 4 wd vehicles in GTA V considering the amount or countryside/off roading that will be taking place. Tire customization would be a dope feature. Rim size/rain tires/snow chains/etc Respects to the modders/developers (not necessarily R*) that can answer my question. Just tryna figure out how the rage engine operates in locomotives Thanks

Raavi
GTA IV had FWD, RWD and AWD. Most cars were RWD. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise
ChatterBoxFM
FWD and AWD had a lot better handling but you couldn't drift really.
Dope_0110
They had both 2 and 4 WD, and in 2 WD both Front and Back in all GTA's since III (not sure how many 4WD were really in VC and III) Anyway, it's easy to change that without any modding tools in previous GTAs. Mokrie Dela
I hope the monster truck handling returns. I don't. I hated that piece of crap. You couldnt even drive over cars in it. Was a fail imo. i hope the monster truck returns, but done much, much better. I personally have not played a game with a good one in it. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Miss Darko
I own san andreas and rdr and I never bought iv cuz I heard it sucks. A bit off-topic, but I think you should probably give IV a try. I don't think it's all that expensive anymore to grab the complete edition with the two accompanying episodes as well. IV may not be to your fancy (the lack of features compared to SA is certainly a big con), but I think most of us here agree that it's a worthwhile experience, especially in preparation for V. If you can dispose of about 30 dollars, you should give it a shot.

For instance you could REALLY feel the 2wd vs 4wd more than any other GTA, Saints Row, or open world game. I dont think you will have to wait for modders to make these things in the game, they will come in the box with the game at launch.

Tire customization this time around would be mad cool tho Yeah IV is disappointing man, save your cash. Poor controls and gets boring pretty quickly but TBOGT dlc improved car handling alot and that makes it a bit more fun.

Sorry dude, but FWD, RWD, 4WD it didn't matter, car handling was one of the main things people hated about IV.
Miss Darko
Of course, not everyone agrees. Plenty of people like GTA IV's car handling as well.

Backfire6
lol I never noticed. Nor did I care. It certainly didn't help me at all for going from point A to Point B. The vehicles were still way way way too slow.
amweaver47
I guess it depends on what the game is to you. Made to be realistic or made to be fun for everyone. I always thought there were too many RWD cars in GTA IV. Even compacts were RWD. The only memorable FWD car was the Blista and it was pretty fun to throw around with a fairly realistic dose of on-throttle understeer. IMO having 4WD on the trucks and sport utilities is cool but realistically you don't have 4WD on the street, you would switch it on when you needed the traction. That wouldn't be much fun to most people though, nor would they understand it in the game. A car like the Sultan with AWD makes sense but a true 4WD like the Ford Superduty Look-alike would never have AWD. Anyway for the sake of making the game fun for everyone they could use a drivetrain system like they did for IV and all but the biggest car guys (And the people that bitch about everything of course) would be satisfied. Just my 2 cents

Well, you can run over cars with the MT on VCS PC Edition, but then again, it was probably modded for the better. Anyways, GTA 4 handling was too sh*t. Hopefully this is fixed in GTA V to balance it a little bit more arcadey but keeping realistic dampering and that fancy stuff that makes driving IRL good. UltimateVenom
Always seemed a little odd to me that every single car in GTA had an LSD... Personally, I think it would be a nice touch to see some of the lower end cars not have LSD However in the long run it hardly matters lol

gta5freemode4eva
I'm a fan of all handling. RWD for drifting, FWD for 'point and go' and 4WD/AWD for off-roading. Ofc you can mix and match for more variety 1 feature I would love would be being able to switch between RWD and 4WD/AWD in a single vehicle. The Land Rover is a perfect example. I know people can say "Why don't you just jump into a different 'wheeled' car" but I think the feature of being able to switch in-car would be awesome. Imagine being chased round the roads whilst your in RWD and then flicking the switch to 4WD/AWD and taking the police on an off-road adventure where you would have a nice advantage presuming they are in a RWD or FWD vehicle Also when it comes to more road bound cars that have 4WD/AWD capability, like the Sentinal and Buffalo, being able to adjust the ratio would be cool. so 30% of the power goes to the front and 70% to the rear for example. Not sure how in-depth the customisation and set-up of cars will be but if the full hog was included then we could be looking at gear ratio adjustments, spring and camber, roll cage etc etc, ride height... I could go on. But yeah I think that we'll have a laugh no matter what they give us. Last thing, off topic I know but here it is anyways... if we are getting tanks, will we be able to crush vehicles with them? Would be ace if the physics let us do this

K.Walters
As far as I can remember 3D GTA games had all 3: FWD,RWD,AWD. That wasn`t only in GTa IV but I remember testing this out in Vice City, so yeah, they are already in game.
