Traffic jams during rush hour?

Now that days of the week are (somewhat??) confirmed... The freeways should be backed up ala real LA during rush hour...

Imagine you are running from police or some one is after you during a mission and you head towards the freeway only to find out its backed up to BFE ... This would force you to to either take different routes during certain times or simply fly...

I can see a problem created here by someone trying to create MASSIVE explosions ( can u imagine the destruction lol) on the backed up freeway which could easily keep this sort of thing from appearing in the game as the CPU most likely couldn't handle that massive of an explosion but... Real life freeways get backed up during rush hour.... Why not have that in the game?? It's not like it would be like that all the time... Only on the weekdays for a couple hours in the morning and around 4-6pm during the day...

I just see this as being a twist to a mission during a significant heist... Although that sorta thing would probably be planned ahead of time monocle.gif

500 MB Of RAM...

Leave it for GTA VI on the next gen consoles

The only thing is that the most impressive traffic jams are in LA and nowhere else in the US. So VI in Vice City or wherever won't have to handle it, unfortunately sad.gif

It's a good idea, don't get me wrong. But I just don't think it's possible for the current consoles. But just imagine the kind of stuff next-gen will be able to do, and how it will step up in terms of being a open world, we may finally get the 'living breathing city' we were promised in GTA IV, and I'm sure the city in GTA V will be full of life, but lets be honest, the consoles are pretty old. I can't wait to see what Rockstar has in store for next-gen. But for now it's V, V, V biggrin.gif

Yes it would, but I think I will find it more annoying than fun. Maybe it's fun for 1 or 2 times, but after that I would hate it.

Umm there are traffic jams in every decent sized American city.

In a preview that was leaked a year or so ago stated that there will be traffic jams and also over the radio they will have real time traffic reports.

No problem, GTA VII will be set in the whole San Andreas state.

Dan Houser said they want to combine all the GTA's in one so I am thinking this for next gen where we could fly from Los Santos to Liberty City to the new HD Vice City. Make the best game in the world hands down.

With every new GTA title R* hints at these things but in the end they're never fully realized in-game and i'm not expecting this one to be.

It wasn't there in IV and it won't be in V, due to technical/performance reasons.

One of the reasons to hope for a PC release so you can increase the traffic and pedestrians.

Forget about it on the PS3 and 360. The lack of RAM in the consoles being at fault.

Traffic sometimes got fairly heavy in IV so it isn't out of the question. But with the bigger freeways in V it would take a lot of cars to create a jam.

I don't know if anyone has played with 100 traffic density in the PC version but it's very annoying to do so. When there are traffic jams, the entire area gets gridlocked and its a pain in the ass to drive around, just like in real life. Who knew? It also was evident that the game wasn't designed to have gridlocked traffic because the traffic would get stuck in the middle of intersections and would just freak out in general. People would be driving on sidewalks and such.

I would love to see traffic jams. In gta iv there was sometimes lots of traffic for example in the airport area, but I wouldn´t call that a real traffic jam.

This would force you...

I'm going to stop you right there. I don't want to be forced to do sh*t unless I'm on a mission. If these are in, I hope I can avoid them using the hard shoulder.

They can make it so the fish move out of your way.

I don't think this stuff will be possible on upcoming consoles.

I lol'd.

Statistically, worst traffic bottlenecks in the US are into Chicago. Also, try driving into New York City from Long Island, NY. LA sucks, but is by no means uncontested as the worst traffic area in the country.

I agree that traffic jams could force the player to go a different route and re-think their strategy so this could definitely add to the game. This is why I'm also for roadworks and fuel in the game because they too would make the player occasionally have to re-think their strategy and go about the 'norm' in a different way. It would keep the game 'fresh'.
