Canes21
So, everyone practically knows if you download a large number of high res vehicles or just a high res car pack, the dreaded taxi big will appear. To counter this, there are traffic scripts out there, but they typically cause problems within the game like textures disappearing. It doesn't matter how great a system you have, the game just isn't designed to load all of those high res cars at one time, so no machine is immune. But since the problem is just having too many high res cars, could it not simply be solved by having a lot less detailed cars? Obviously some people will never use less detailed cars and I understand that. However, if I was to in theory have a car pack that had all real world cars, but they were not super detailed and were all about the same size as the original GTA IV cars, would it thus allow me to then have real cars in my game without a taxi bug appearing? To me that seems like a logical way of defeating this bug, but I may be completely wrong? Has anyone tried this? Are there any packs out there that actually try this? I'd be more than willing to deal with real cars that were only as detailed as the default cars because that's still not that bad looking and beats nothing at all. Thanks. RoadRunner71
Obviously it's been already done and is being done. Models converted from Driver Sf are usually low poly so the game runs them better. Respecting the taxi bug fixes, I personally use Traffic Control System. It's not the best fix, in fact it's quite buggy, but it runs pretty decently in my computer. Canes21
See, I've been using the City Cars Pack 1.4( http://www.gta4-mods.com/vehicles/city-car...pack-v14-f17907 ) with TrafficFlow and it's running fine. I just started doing that after making this topic. I'm able to run the game with all settings as high as they go with vsync off, no enb as of now, and traffic density at 50-60. I'm having no textures disappearing and the game runs smooth. So I guess I pretty much answered my question asking if a lower res pack helps with stability because obviously it does. Now my complaint isn't really fit for this topic anymore, but I wish there was a pack, or a quick way of finding cars with files near the same size of the original cars like the mod I am using so I could replace every single car in my game with a real life counterpart because that pack does not replace all the cars. But to be more on topic, is traffic flow the best option out there for getting diverse traffic disregarding how bad it makes performance? I can spawn the Ultimate Car Pack 10, or whatever it's called with the high res models all in a line without my game even stuttering a bit, but having TrafficFlow on kills my performance. I have a GTX 660 2GB, i5 2500k 3.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, so my computer isn't a super computer, but it's no slouch, but even then I struggle bad with the higher res V10 pack with TrafficFlow, so I kind of feel TrafficFlow, at least the original version which I am using does it's job, but performance wise is quite inefficient. I hate to bring up an old topic, but seeing as how I am just now getting into GTA IV PC, I missed out on when this board was more alive, but 1) is the new version of traffic flow a lot better on the system while still allowing great diversity? And 2) Is there anything out there that mdoesn't kill performance, but does about as good a job? I'd love to use the higher res V10 pack, but right now I just can't with my old TrafficFlow. RoadRunner71
You could try contacting GTA4-mods staff in order to add some low poly vehicles filter. Now, regarding to your traffic bug fix question, Traffic Load is the best in terms of variety of the spawned cars, but you need a hell of PC to run it without texture loss. jpm1
HQ has nothing to do with heavy sizes . i can give you links to HQ cars which wft does not exceed 400 Ko (they aren't legion but they do exist) . most of the time heavy sized mods are made by people that start in modding and who have few experience in modding (or who have purchased the 3D model and converted it as it) . and to answer to your question i found (not voluntarily) a pretty nice solution to avoid the taxi bug or to reduce its effects it's to install Dhruv DSF crown taxi on 2 taxis and you install 8 different skins on the car
