If GTA V was in FOX Engine

f*ck me, that is f*cking amazing!  wow.gif

It's also one of the best companies along with Rockstar. I'm definitely getting Phantom Pain and GZ.

Phantom pain IS ground zeroes. And it will be awesome!

OT: it would be amazing if the next gta would use the fox engine though unlikely.

Maybe in the future rockstar and kojima productions will collaborate and mix the RAGE engine with the FOX engine.

It's not lol. GZ is actually a spin-off, nothing to do with the actual series. Some people say the game takes place before Phantom Pain, which has nothing to do with the original series.

I thought that ground zeroes was the prologue mission. Like how in mgs 3 they had the virtuous mission which was a prologue to project snake eater.

Ground Zeroes takes place 9 years before Phantom Pain and serves as prologue of events that lead up to The Phantom Pain. Both are part of Metal Gear Solid V according to Kojima himself.

Ahh ok. It's confusing, since Big Boss is in a coma for a long time.

Phantom Pain is MGS V. Thank you for clearing that up. As for GZ I believe it's unclear how that will be distributed but I hope it comes with MGS V.

Since I don't think FOX Engine is made for making Sandbox games in a huge scale like RAGE does, then I don't see GTA V running in FOX Engine, It could be optimized tho.

GTA will probably not have those graphics for another 4 years at least.

you mean 7 years

I'm not gonna call it a great engine if it's not out there performing great for actual people on actual systems. But as a sexy innovation type thing.. it's pretty damn sexai

Yeah, GZ is immediately after Peace Walker (1975), something happens that causes Snake to go into a coma. Phantom Pain, he wakes up and the story continues in 1984 (but we'll probably get to know what happened in those 9 years). Big fan of MGS cool.gif

RAGE is purpose built for Rockstar's style of games. For what Rockstar wants and needs, there's probably not a better engine to use than their own RAGE right now. It's not difficult to create great graphics on any engine, the reason why GTA V might not be as good looking as the next MGS or whatever is because of the style of game. Open world games aren't gonna be as pretty as linear games, it's just not possible because of hardware limitations. If Rockstar did end up using the FOX engine for GTA V, it's likely it wouldn't look much, if any, better than it does now.

I hate to do this, but also look at the difference between the new Activision engine and the CoD Ghosts gameplay. The difference it's huge. The engine can accomplish that in a room where nothing happens, no way it can achieve that in a big open world game with tons of different cars, gun, explosions, pedestrians, dialogues etc.

@Vidiz MGS is also open world

@Poklane The gameplay trailers look just as impressive

@Weshinator No, and on top of that this demo is current-gen while those are next-gen

which is pretty much when the next game after GTA V will most likely come out, so you never know a new Engine from Rockstar could be in the works for there next Gen titles

some game sites are saying that Ground Zeroes is a prologue to V so its part of the story in the same game. so you would play GZ then it would go into Phantom Pain. like Mgs3 did with its"Virtuous Mission" as a prologue and then it went to "Operation Snake Eater"

If there's any engine out there, it's definitely gonna be Frostbite.

FOX looks nice and all, but I'd imagine that's it, I don't think it can do things the other engines can do.

I find it interesting how physics and actual gameplay were never demonstrated in that tech demo. Just "Ooh look at our pretty cutscenes".

Look, you can make the best looking car around, but without wheels it's not going anywhere. I don't give a f*ck about lighting tricks, just show me the damn game in action.

Konami's MGSV focuses on photorealism. This is their intention. They used the FLOPS for graphics instead of 50/50 for physics and graphics, unlike what the majority of the developers are doing.

Tbh, I firmly believe that Rockstar could build an engine of this equal fidelity. Its no doubt the fox engine looks better. But yeah, npcs, open world game, traffic, etc. Kojima can put aside more memory for graphics with the Fox engine then the GTA engine. Maybe next gen Rockstar will create something similar.

Ground Zero is open world. Maybe not GTA scale but it is still an open world game.

Eternal Moonshine

It would suck. GTA is not a stealth game. FOX engine is not meant for open world games

Well I was referring to "things".

No need for an answer, I realized where you're coming from. Photorealism can be achieved even with a 2006 Engine. With static environments and static lighting, with little to no interaction.

Mgs v looks amazing and people are correct ground Zeroes takes place right after peace walker and then leads into phantom pains via coma (which i think he gets from a helicopter crash) also ground zeroes will be purhased separately than lhantom pains. Kojima said ground zeroes is like a big tutorial for the phantom pain my guess digital dwonload, cant wait to play this beast on my ps4 also new trailer for the game on the 11th

To me, next gen is currently only about graphics. A while after the next gen consoles are released, I'll probably buy one, as the game variety will be greater, system bugs would be fixed, and it will be cheaper. But, although I am a gameplay person, I can't deny that those graphics are indeed amazing.

Nah, I think next gen will be about physics within the game. No doubt the graphics will improve, but this time a rounds I think the leaps are going to be on how everything moves.

In contrast, Kojima seems to be following the otherwise itinerary.
