Which of these games are your favorite gta clone. Maybe ones you have enjoyed even more than a gta game.

You put this big list but you forgot about Scarface The World Is Yours?

My top 5 would Be

1.Mafia 2 - Underrated game a short but sweet experience that i really enjoyed and imo the only game in the genre that beats 2 or 3 of the 3d Gta Games.

2.Mafia The City Lost Heaven - just a classic fantastic storyline but i did prefer 2 a little bit more i know im in the very small minority with that one.

3.Saints Row 1 - a down to earth fun alternative to gta its that simple i had some good times with this game it really helped tide me over while waiting for Iv.

4.Saints row 2 - i liked the original a little bit more but a really fun game like san andreas goofy cousin.

5. The Godfather 1 - alot less ambitious but IMO alot better than its disappointing sequel again just a fun game that really helped tide me over For IV. and its also better than the overrated and mediocre scarface game IMO.

Argh I really hate the term "GTA clone". Most of these other open world games are nothing like GTA so they're not "clones".

Anyway I'd have to say Mafia II and Sleeping Dogs.

Never really understood the hate Mafia II gets. It's a fantastic game IMO. and Sleeping Dogs surprised me too.

Leone Sentinel

Driver series, because unlike the other GTA clones it did something different, focusing purely on driving.. at least until Driv3r came out and they tried to copy GTA, but Driver: San Francisco is fixing that.

HOW'S ANNIE?

How is the Prototype series a GTA Clone exactly?

Watch Dogs lol.gif

But since that's not released yet, I'll say Mafia II, then Mafia, then Sleeping Dogs

The other "GTA Clones...." I've played like True Crime, Driver series, Scarface, Simpsons H&R, Miami Vice just sucked balls imo

True Crime: New York City would have to be it. I saw the Driver series, strange cause the only Driver games that were trying to be GTA clones were DRIV3R, Parallel Lines and Driver 76. Not the whole Driver series were GTA clones but I guess it's not really a big deal.

I voted The Driver series, but they had two 3d games out before GTA III, a full console generation ahead of GTA. I don't consider it a clone because it's impossible to clone something that hadn't existed yet.

EDIT - The Simpsons hit and run game is really good also.

Driver is my favorite one, especially first and SF. Also play most of this list.Should mention lot of hours with SR,Mafia and Just Cause series and Saboteur and Sleeping Dogs. Also on this list should be RDR,La Noire,AC and Infamous series and Maybe Fallout 3 and NW (not exactly same genre, but still vast Sandbox games with plenty of customisation and gameplay options).

Kill Frenzy!

Just Cause series is my favorite GTA clone, after that Mafia series and Driver series.

Saints Row sucks completely.

The Pizza Delivery Guy
Saints Row sucks completely.

Tsk. Tsk.

5. Mafia 2. It's a great game, but the limitations of the game (No time progression until next mission, no weather change until next mission) really held back the title. I love a lot of the other stuff though, I think car customization is absolutely perfect, if only a little more cosmetic things. All the collectables added to game length, but were just tedious after the 50th wanted poster.

4. Driv3r: It was a goofy and fun game. Tanner should have stayed in his vehicle at all times like in Driver 1 and SF, but if you take the "Driver" part out, this would have been a better success.

3. Yakuza 4. While it isn't really a GTA clone, it kind of fits in the category and is a real fun game to sit down and screw around in the city. I haven't picked it up in a while, but I remember enjoying all characters and their play styles.

2. Red Dead Redemption. R*'s own game can be a GTA clone if that is what we are referring "Open world/ sandbox shooters" as. RDR was an amazing mix of gameplay and story, and everything I say would still understate how great RDR is. And the only reason it isn't #1 is...

1. Saints Row 2. I enjoyed it more than GTA IV. There I said it. Cat's out of the bag and flame shield is on. In Saints Row I felt free. I felt like I could do whatever I want whenever I wanted. If I wanted to fly a helicopter into a building, and survive long enough to through the people inside it out the windows, I could. Saints Row 2 has feature overload and I'm still finding stupid things to mess around with. And even though it is more over the top than GTA IV, it still had serious story moments. That made it perfect. And speaking of story, the ability to do a couple of missions for one gang, and then run off to do some for another added to the feeling of freedom instead of an incredibly linear mission set up. I'm damn close to giving Saints Row 2 a 10/10, but there is just one little nearly insignificant thing I have to bring up: Mayhem Level 5 is impossible. 9.8/10.

Wolf of Badenoch

1. Just Cause 2: The most fun I've ever had in a video game. And one of the largest, most beautiful maps I've ever seen.

2. Mafia 2: Beautifully crafted and executed, I've found myself going back to Empire Bay a dozen times just to experience it again. Live it again.

3. The Simpsons Hit & Run: My favorite cartoon in GTA form. Need I say more?

4. Saints Row: The Third: Pure, unadulterated insanity. That's all that needs saying. I ignore all the haters on the basis of one simple fact: If I enjoyed it, nothing else matters.

Totally agree!

So, either Saints Row 2 or Sleeping Dogs for me people smile.gif

I chosen Saints Row: The Third because despite the fact that it began as a under-achieving GTA Clone, it has drifted away and became a hilarious genre of it's own. Nothing is as fun as free-falling and landing on a cop then smacking his dead body with an oversized, flexible dildo.
