Unlocks and Progression

One thing I always like in any game is Unlocks through progression. I'm not to keen on CE/SE because I think they unlock some stuff before you're supposed to get it. I always liked unlocking the next island because it would always feel like a big hurdle. I understand a lot of people wanted it all open from the start though and maybe thats what R* listened to. Anyways...

 

What things do you think will require Progression through the story to unlock?

 

Some potential examples;

 

Weapons/attachments

Car Modifications (performance upgrades)

Skills (could receive a bigger bump up from missions)

Areas (Military base, Airport)

Clothes (expensive suits or heist clothing)

Properties (relevant to missions, think playboy X's penthouse)

Particular Vehicles (submarine, Andromeda maybs?)

I would have to say properties because i bet those properties ain't gonna be cheap (some might be) and in order to get those you will have to progress in the story in order to make enough cash to buy them. Just my guess, But i think we'll just have to play the game to find out for sure smile.gif

The island being completely open from the start has been my biggest worry since it was announced. Unlocking areas as you go has always been a staple of the franchise. I'm worried the map will lose some of its charm open all at once and that'll be difficult to replicate that sense of accomplishment elsewhere in the game. A new area not only offers a brand new way to play the game but also an entirely different vibe, different atmosphere. One you worked hard for.

 

I'm sure the terrain varries enough throughout the map that seeking a different atmosphere will not be a problem. Especially will the Sea floor now populated. So what exactly would alter our style of play? while providing a sufficient sense of accomplishment. Personally I'd like challenges to make a return and extensively. What if you could "master" a vehicle or type of vehicle in the same way you could master a weapons class in San Andreas? But make it a difficult and long process. Maybe a relevant vehicle or two will only spawn after completion. For example, flight challenges unlocks an old WWII bomber with gun turrets that other characters could commandeer in flight. Imagine switching characters to switch between controlling the plane and the planes guns. Armored vehicle challenges unlock a tank with a similar system.

 

there's a lot of possibilities.

I think that restaurants could be locked at the beginning. Also certain missions could remain locked until you attain a certain skill level.

Honestly, I will miss that feeling of achievement when you unlocked a part of the map and you could finally explore it at your leisure.
