Interesting choice of words in the game. synopsis

Just took a look at the official synopsis for the game, which states;

 

[...]"Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life"[...]

 

Why question is, why are they running out of options? Is there an event early in the game that forces them to do these heists?

You just don't run out of options, something makes it happen, right?

Then it must be something that's big enough to relate to all three protags, or at least make one protag convince the other two to participate.

 

Is Michael's family kidnapped? Ransom? Trevor would help Michael for the sake of their friendship, Franklin would do it for the money and the big plans.

 

But, isn't Michael's money enough for the ransom? He's rich. He doesn't even like his family. But, it's still his family.

 

So many possibilities..

The possibilities are indeed endless in terms of their options being narrowed down after a significant event has taken place. Though I was playing San Andreas just before and CJ says to Cesar, "There's gotta be an easier way of earning a living than this." To which Cesar replies. "Sure, holmes, I guess, but what else are you qualified for?"

 

Perhaps this is what is being referenced in terms of running out of options. There isn't much in the way of employment for drug addicted ex-military pilots, gang bangers and career criminals. Just another possibility, though. Chances are there is a story driven reason.

By now we know a bit about the reasons why they're running out of options. At least for Michael and Franklin.

Michael is living a miserable life and his family is falling apart. Franklin wants to get out of the ghetto crime life.

Those are, at least, their known motivations from the trailers shown.

 

Only character that we don't know a lot about is Trevor.
