After reading so much about V I really want to visit Cali. I have a vacation coming up soon so why not take a trip out west. Anybody else feel this way?

My sister's husband recently got offered a job in either Czech Rep, Norway, Hungary, Germany or California

Purely for selfish reasons i've told him to take the California job lol.gif

People saying that LA isnt a pretty place havent ever been out of their ghetto. SoCal is baked in golden sun drenched vast mountain ranges, breezy smooth white sands beaches, and sprawling cities filled with cultural and artistic diversity. Sure there are ghettos, rat holes, drugs, crime, and bums but what large city or populous area doesnt have those elements in them? Ive grown up in the Southern California region my whole life, Los Angeles, beaches of Ventura, and the desert of San Bernardino. Those areas also seem to be the three points the map in GTA V is based on. All of those areas could both be considered glamorous and disgusting depending on what area and aesthetic you tend to gravitate towards.

If you like graffiti, taco trucks, and dirt sidewalks then you might come back from California with the sense of almost being a third world. However its the beauty of the states geography, the ability to travel to all of these different climates in the same day. Be able to hike to the top of a mountain and view the very beach you're going to surf later that afternoon, and still be able to go home and sleep in your own bed at the end of the day. Thats the glamor of Southern California.

Havent ever been out of their ghetto? Cmon bruh thats a lil bit much.. Im from south central but i live in the valley as of recent (sherman oaks) . What we are.saying is yes its nice to visit, but if you move here have a plan or have alot of paper because you will feel the downside of L.A. If you dont.

If you're a tourist and you want to see the ultra-wealthy, glamorous LA most people see in the movies and TV, you probably won't, because that's something that's very exclusive and pretty well hidden from tourists and the less well off people of Los Angeles. The real rich folk of LA would rather step in front of a bus than go for a walk on Hollywood Boulevard.

Really? I'm an average middle class guy from Chicago and I went on a 4 hour tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills the last time I went to LA. I touched David Beckham's mailbox and saw numerous celebrity homes, all of Hollywood boulevard, and Rodeo drive.

California would be a great place to visit but I could never afford to live there. I make around $20,000 a year at my current job, and that would probably barely cover rent for a decent apartment in a good neighborhood, plus i've heard taxes are crazy there. But i would definitely prefer the weather there over the god awful humidity where I live now.
