I don't think it would be a big deal if its true. I'd actually love getting pulled over and have them write you out a ticket.(love to hear what funny things they'd say) Fines could be could be a new part of gameplay with GTAVs new economy. Driving like a mad man in GTAIV I still had to watch for cops so I didn't hit them. This is just taking it to a different level. Oh, did anyone ever think about running red lights and get sent a ticket to you with a pic of you running the light. Anyway, just saying if its true I think Rockstar could develop another aspect of depth to the game without making it tedious.

You still have the freedom to do so, you'll just be punished in game if you act on that freedom. Just like killing someone.

But I'm playing the game to avoid certain punishments. Like traffic fines. Those are something I play games to avoid.

They work in MCLA and NFS games because your car is either nearly unbreakable or armed to the teeth with destructive weaponry. I don't think V is going to have adamantium cars with regenerating nitro, so f*ck traffic laws.

I'm sure they are doing it to better fit the criminal atmosphere. I bet with the bigger (square) radar, you'd be able to see cops and cop cars on the map so you can very easily avoid them. I also bet they'll have a cheat to revert it back to the old school style. I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure Rockstar understands how annoying it would be to drive for every moment and have to shake police. They'll balance it so it feels fitting, real(Hollywood real), and fun. But I sure as sh*t am not going to be obeying the road laws the whole god damn game. Just like how I tend to kill people quite often on IV and have to get away from the police. That or I do the crime where there are no police.

People keep mentioning the line of sight thing to me. The thing is, Mafia II had that too and it still annoyed the hell out of me. I mean, what if LS does have cops everywhere like in IV. What then? And what happens when they spawn out of nowhere when speeding down a wide open road?

It wasn't fun. It was never fun. I never found it endearing or fun or enjoyable or even thrilling once. Not once. I hope that traffic laws aren't in. They suck no matter how they're implemented!

Every feature of every game seems to annoy you, you cant expect people to take you seriously and actually have a grown up conversation with you of you keep complaining about everything.

I didn't really say that, did I? But you're acting like the R* have ruined the game and the game is going to be cr*ap and every game is annoying. WHY CANT YOU JUST LOVE

You're probably right, I never played Mafia II so I don't know how annoying it could be.

I highly doubt this is true, if so then Rockstar, what the f*ck man, you were like, the only game developer that seems to still put fun before "realism."

Bad actions get you bad consequences. It's not sense to not have wanted level when you break the law like a crazy drunk man. If you break the law, deal with it.

Name one game that goes all out for realism that seems to be ruining the franchise? I have never heard of this being a trend.

Well, let me put it to you like this. Even if another car HITS YOU, you still get a wanted level for damaging the other car. Plus, mafia II always has to have a cop at least within radar range, so they're everywhere. Hitting a parked car will also get you stars. I'm one of those guys who absolutely adores destroying cars for fun, so this bullsh*t was incredibly, game-breakingly annoying to me.

Mafia II the main game is a linear story, but the DLC episodes aren't. So if you really want to see what mafia II has to offer, get a used copy that says "3 additional story packs" on it since that comes with a disc that installs all the DLC.

Rockstar, I don't have to get V, you know. Harmony of despair is waiting as a trial version on my hard drive to be bought. Slaying demons is much more fun than waiting in traffic, guys.

If this is true, rockstar has lost their way. Sure, I can just not speed and drive normally. Then maybe I can pay taxes, wash dishes, and take out the trash too while we're at it. I could be having fun, but all the bullsh*t of real life has now found it's way into the game and now I would have no reason to play it.

Traffic laws? Really? That sh*t was annoying in mafia II and it isn't going to be fun here. If it really means that much, just use the raise wanted level cheat when you speed past the cops. Or just hit their car. I don't need them to be enforcing f*cking speed limits and car damage laws too. f*ck this feature.

Thats your opinion and i think you are wrong and upset that R* hasn't given you EXACLY WHAT YOU WANT. You haven't even played the game and your mouthing it off, what are you 5 or something?

I experienced traffic laws in mafia II. I did not find them fun or enjoyable. They were annoying as hell and got in my way all the f*cking time. Driving normally isn't fun because, well, you ever sit in traffic? Does anyone in real life enjoy sitting in traffic? But of course, the cops will be on your ass like a shadow if you don't follow them. It's bullsh*t. This is not fun or enjoyable. I know because I've experienced it. It's nothing but a big pain in the ass.

I hope this rumor is bullsh*t. I really do.

If you don't want to get fined, fine. Then simply don't stop for the cops, possibly resulting in a chase. It's still your choice. Nobody forces you to pull over and pay a fine, it's grand theft auto, in my opinion this only adds to the feeling of a crime again. I for one would love to be chased, without them shooting at me, like a proper police chase.

I don't enjoy when games make me do a trivial thing over and over again. Like in Far Cry 2 (NOT 3) when you painstakingly clear an outpost, drive a few minutes away, come back and then enemy has completely respawned. Really broke the game for me, and is still literally the only game I've purchased where I haven't "beat" the game.

In the elder scrolls, cleared dungeons are cleared until the cell resets a LONG time later, like an in-game month or something. Or in skyrim, if all dungeons are cleared and you get a misc. quest that requires a dungeon, it will then repopulate one for you through its radiant quests system.

I don't want GTA V to continually make me run away from cops for speeding or crashing into other civilian cars. Especially since theres no speedometer, I don't know how they would even make you know not to speed... Either way, it would be a huge point of discomfort for me. If I want 1 star, I will rear end a police vehicle. I don't need the game to do that for me. I'd be okay with specific missions that have traffic laws as part of the mission's story (like if you are racing someone for sport and the police catch you guys speeding and give chase), otherwise, please leave most traffic laws out of the game.

Will play the crap out of this game regardless because rockstar has me by the beard.

I don't believe that we will get wanted level whenever we break some traffic rules, if it is in it should be optional.

First of all you don't have to obey to the road rules. Speed and do what you want but there will be consequences. And I for one haven't read this in a preview yet but if it is in id love it! Makes the experience that much better. Gta has come a long way and needs to keep recreating itself and not rehash the same thing like one series we all know cough cod cough... I loved mafia 1 and 2 for the fact of the traffic laws and what not. Drive 120 miles an hour and crash and your more than likely going to die in the game. Don't obey the traffic and cops come chasing after you. You then have a choice of weather to pull over and pay a ticket, bribe him, or go ham. If you don't pull over then you can just flee but if the cop spotted your plates then they'll be looking for that car. If your just flying then more than likely they didn't even spot your plates and your still just blowing by without no worry of him catching up. It adds more choice and consequence to the game which imo makes it an even that much funner. I loved mafia 1 and 2 for those reasons. Like you can't just blast 100 people and then lose the police without them knowing what you look like even when you lose the heat. You therefore either walk around as a fugitive with the cops on the lookout for a guy dressed like you or you change your clothes and go about your day. If R* put that in gta I would love it!

I think the underlying principle here isn't so much people can just avoid it, but it's the fact some people don't want it to be imposed on them.

In GTA IV I found it annoying having to stop at toll booths to pay. Sure I could've speed through and got a 1 star wanted level and escaped it with ease, but that's not the point.

Having to obey traffic laws is the last thing I ever want to do in a GTA game. confused.gif

This. Don't care if it's realistic. In GTA IV I always ignore the toll booths. Stupid thing to add and just trys to limit the player rather than improve the gameplay.

Ok so I've found a source that comes from IGN but it is still a leaked rumor by a supposed ex r* employee

11. Police cars will go after you if you're obviously breaking the speed limit. Having high speed crashes will also damage your health.

this is found toward the bottom of the article

http://www.ign.com/wikis/grand-theft-auto-5/Rumors_and_Leaks

How legit this is who knows only R* will obviously but I will wait for confirmation. Won't be disappointed if it is and wont be care if it isn't in the game.

It really doesn't bother me too much. It may get a bit annoying, but overall I don't think it will be a big deal.

Also, Racecar. You you have to bring up mafia 2 in every single post? You don't like it and we all understand that. Instead of just pointing to Mafia 2 and saying "see this game is bad therefore GTA will be if they have this" why don't you come up with something else other than " NO "Mawfyuh too suckz, I no want dat cuz I hate dis game herp derp " Please icon14.gif

Everybody calm down. The first time I saw this it was in the Xbox 360 Magazine preview. The link the OP provided on the first page takes A LOT from the XBOX 360 Preview; however what has apparently been lost in translation is the OBVIOUS satire tone the Xbox 360 article had. I would be stunned and shocked if this feature was implemented. Here is the link to my recap post of the Xbox 360 article.
