Those who have a job: GTA V-cation

Well, for me it has lately started to sink in just how incredible a game GTA V will most likely be. It could be gaming greatness and freshness that I will never experience again. It might even be an out of this world thrill ride like GTA III was back in the day. At least I'm hoping to get some of that "little boy wonder" back with V.

 

So, I have already "booked" one week of holidays starting September 16th! And if there's another delay , I'll just move my holidays even further because I most likely have the possibility to do so.

Did it for the GTA IV will be doing it for GTA V

 

They were surprised the first time I said: I won't be in next Tuesday, I will be going to the midnight release of GTA, then spending the night playing, and will be in no condition to work.

 

No point being dishonest about it, and they gave me the day off (with pay, for being so honest), and my boss asked me to pick him up a copy...

I don't have a job, I still go to school and I have internship aswell.. So I kinda work, but I ain't being payed... But I will take the whole week off in which GTA V releases, and maybe the week after aswell.

Don't think I'll be able to book extended time off around then, but I certainly forsee me coming down with an unfortunate flu on the Thurs/Fri of that week...

The company I work for holds a massive event the week of the 17th, so not only can i not get those days off, I get to look forward to being too ultra busy to play it much. I do, however, plan to go to the midnight release and play the game until work starts the next morning.

I start in Apple next month and I'll be working from home. Will be difficult seeing as my work will be beside my Xbox. Not sure how I'm going to work this out. I might try take days off but I'd prefer to spend my days off on actual holidays abroad but sure a day or two wont do no harm.

Well, your working from home can't you um.. take small breaks?.. Play while in a call?.. You'll be crushed by temptation either way.

My boss is a dick sometimes so I cant tell him exactily why I want off, so Ill probably switch shifts with people to get off the day of and the day after release

Ah man, I don't think so. Well, maybe I can have it on but I wouldn't be able to concentrate. When I worked in Xbox Support we had Xbox's at our pods and trying to play a game while on the phone was a nightmare and there was little time between calls. Except Trials was good as it's obviously arcade etc.

I'm taking a 4 day weekend the week it comes out. I didn't answer the poll because none of the choices apply to me. I don't "spend (at least part of) my holidays near September 17th." I'm taking two days off because I want to spend some quality time with something that deserves it. I have several weeks of vacation time earned so I have no reason to feel guilty about it. The only reason I don't take a whole week off is because it's a pain in the ass when I retturn to work.

I already have that week as a vacation in my company's book. I get three vacations and can't afford to go away each time so why not take that week?

I'm my own boss so 'sick days' means 'go homeless.' I will be working extra hard all summer so come Sept 17 my work is on a kind of auto-pilot and I can daydream all the time about cruising along the hills... Or over them.

Once we pass that 2 month mark (thats a safe bet) i'm going to book off the next full week after release off from work. So from the 20TH onwards i'll be in gaming bliss. The Misssus will be working, the kids will be at school so it'll be just me, the 360 and GTA V.

And I´m not using the fake sick card either.

I would have to go to see the doctor to prove my employer that I really am sick.

We have a great system here, if You are not really sick it takes so much trouble that You rather just go to work.

 

I have never even bought a game at release day, few days more what is that? Better enjoy it the next weekend.

Waiting in line in overcrowded store full of overhyped teens is not really a fantasy day off the work.
