Apologies OP; can you clarify - it was inside a RDR GOTY game box that you were looking at in the store (but didn't buy)? Did you not have to take the packaging off to look inside?

Interesting is, that the company's logo wasn't in trailer 1, then in one shot it was mirrored and in this screen it's correct.

yep. But it also has a circle-shaped minimap. And in the latest previews it was sad that the minimap is rectangular this time… so…

I wouldn't consider that to be outside the realm of possibilities.

This was inside a new copy of "red dead redemption Game of the year" edition for Xbox. I just opened it today and there was a GTA 5 paper. I Took a picture with my phone....thats why its blurry.

 

This is similiar to what we saw in the trailer, but this is from a different angle and more recent I suppose. For the know it all trolls on here who dont believe me the link to the first trailer is below.

You can tell it's real by looking at the mask that Michael is wearing. In the first trailer, he's wearing the same mask as the black guy, here he is wearing the one from the artwork/trailer 2.

Nope. Opened the box, and Saw "Grand theft Auto 5" Box Art paper then turned to the other side and it said the same "info" posted on the official Rockstar Website and that screenshot and said to myself "Wait a minute, never seen this shot before"

I went through all your posts and in one of them you talked about the "grainy" textures in GTA IV and how they got rid of those in Red Dead Redemption. Can I conclude from that that you've already played/already own Red Dead Redemption? If so, why would you look inside a box of a game you already own?

 

Just seems really fishy to me. Like other people pointed out, the RDR GOTYE has been out for 2 year. It's not like they're still shipping 100.000 every week of them. Putting GTA V box art papers in a box of a game that's over 2 years old isn't the best marketing method and I've never seen any company do that. I bought GTA IV EFLC last year and there was still an ad in the box for pre-ordering Red Dead Redemption.

Ah yes, but you are talking about the old fake from last year or even longer. I mean the picture the OP posted. I don't see that being fake really, look at the character models, i don't think such a thing is easy to fake. I don't think we even have seen the characters in those exact positions at the door in a trailer or screenshot before? So even harder to fake.

For some reason I think this is legit but the OPs story about finding it in a GOTY edition of RDR is clearly bullsh*t. Maybe he or somebody close to him has played a demo of the heist and slyly snapped off a photo.

 

EDIT: Just noticed the glare in the bottom right.. it does seem to have been taken from a piece of glossy paper but I'm still calling bullsh*t on the cover story.

He wrote that when he was looking for the GOTYE of RDR it was stored in a display and on the backside of it (I still don't get it) this foto was printed. So it wasn't inside the box he bought but inside of the shelf or something…

He said he will return tomorrow and make a new photo of it.

 

What I wonder:

IF this IS fake: Who has such talent to make something like this. Seems like a hard piece of work

IF its NOT fake: I wonder if Rockstar is giving out very rare material to some stores, not telling them, and then just make fun of us forum guys discussing this (same as with the submarine shot 2 weeks ago)

Either way the story seems sketchy.. its like he's trying to cover something up so as not to get himself or somebody else in trouble. Gamestop posted something about preorders on facebook today which seemed kind of random to me so it's possible that there are some new posters or something circulating retailers. Many of the leaks we've seen have come from retailers who have gotten their hands on media before it has officially been released so I'm thinking the same has happened here.
