Mt Josiah/ Josiah Whitney

The tallest mountain in mainland U.S. is Mount Whitney, in California.

 

It's named after... Josiah Whitney.

From previews, we know one of the Mountains is called Josiah.

So when we've been calling the tallest mountain Chiliad, it makes sense for the tallest mountain in the game to be called Mt. Josiah, and the mountain to be based off the mountains in the Sierra Crest.

The only catch is technically it's not in Southern California, but it's not far north of there.

There is more than one mountain. There is mount Josiah, mount chilidad, and possibly another mountain.

Good observation and it kind of brings back something from the first trailer. The first time I seen the hikers I thought it may be somewhere in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park and honestly I have never really though otherwise. Certainly there are trees there which appear to be Sequoias and also it kind of reminds me of Kings Canyon a bit. Mount Whitney just happens to be in Sequoia National Park. I am wondering if the hikers are looking at Mr. Josiah.

Good observation. The hiking scene in GTAV Trailer #1 looked like the high Sierras as well. That would go with the idea of re-imagining that kind of environment slightly displaced from central Calif to the GATV map. I hope it means there are some snow-capped mountains and tall Sequoia pine forests(kind of like Tall Trees in RDR).

Sounds like Cruis'n USA Unless it was in one of the Outrun games too.
