Using cheats

By using buttons like in Sa or using the phone (IV) ? Which one you like more?

Keys

 

Pros: No disturbance if being shot at, fast.

Cons: Hard to remember, a slight mistake will cause to re-enter the cheat.

 

Phone

 

Pros: Cheats are stored, no need to remember, know the use of cheat.

Cons: Disturbance if being shot at (have to go to cheats option again from the menu).

 

I prefer the phone.

Buttons. Since I don't use cheats until completion I'll have all the time to get acquainted with them. They're also way more convenient, if you memorise them you activate them faster and unlike the phone they can be activated while taking damage. Seems like the better option to me.

I would like the phone again, though I loved entering cheats in SA and previous games... but it's just more convenient... and I would guess that when you get shot in GTA V when holding the phone, you won't put it down... I think we will have animations for being shot while holding the phone this time around... at least I'm hoping for it.

Honestly I hated having to enter numbers into the phone. It always took me so long to get them all in lol. I dont really see any better option though.

But using cheats while being shot at was a pain in the ass. I hope you don't drop your phone when you're shot, otherwise I prefer the old system. It's faster anyway.

The phone was much more simpler, i don't know why anyone would use buttons. Too complicated.

phone. especially if they fix the getting hurt problem. also if cheats was an app and you could move apps around to have that as the first app, it could be faster than buttons

I memorized a lot of the cheats from San Andreas, making it quicker to enter than going through the phone. However, I still prefer the phone as I don't want to memorize more of them . Also, every cheat you enter was automatically saved, so you don't have to look up the cheats every time.

 

Only thing annoying about the phone was if your scrolling was off by one, you teleported to the f*cking airport for that Sixaxis demo. Take that sh*t out.

Button combos for cheats is WAY easier. Putting in cheats in 4 was a pain in the ass.

BUT on the otherhand I liked the idea they were "saved" in a list. So I didn't have to RE-type them or whatever

Well...

The phone system didn't make me need to learn the cheat-codes by heart but typing numbers was taking too much time.

The classic option was nice, some cheat-code words had some humour in them. Plus, it was faster to type them by skilled fingers.

I would rather see the second possibility.

I plugged in my old PS2 and played San Andreas for the first time in...5 years last week, I could still remember the police cheat as if I had never stopped playing it.

 

Wish I'd used my brain space for more useful information but there we are.

 

As for V, I'll use them right from the off, as I always have with GTA titles. IV's phone system was innovative, they should keep it.

 

I have a bit of OCD about driving around in a damaged car and going to pay and spray every time I crashed would be an incredibly laborious experience.

Rdr style. It's like the phone but you access them in the pause menu. The cheat menu is under options.

I won't be using cheats though.

I'd have to vote on button combos. It was so much faster and they were always easy to memorize.

Button combinations for sure. The phone was annoying, always closing when you get shot... Not to mention you had to scroll to find the cheats if you entered a few of them. On San Andreas, I memorized every important cheat code (flying cars, hydra, rhino, weapons, health, the good stuff) and I can enter them much faster than I can select a cheat from the phone on IV. If both methods are available, like entering the combination and having it saved to your phone, both parties would be satisfied.

I would prefer it like SR. Pause the game first THEN choose the cheat.

 

But if I had to choose between the two methods the OP mentioned then it wold be the Phone. It was a pain when being shot at but who cold remember all the vehicle codes for SA.

 

Also in SA (which I am playing again now on the Mac) as you type in the cheats other things still happen as you press each key. HESOYAM for instance will change weapon when you press the E.

 

And for the record I WILL be using cheats from the outset unlike others here. I will just be careful that I already have any achievements before I activate certain cheats. It's my game, my xbox and I will play how I want !!
