The GTA V map will be about 12.91 miles x 10.01 mi

I wonder when people will understand that GTA 5 will be somewhere around 25sq miles, give or take a couple miles.  This has been proven several times on different threads, including the mapping one.

Why 25? Rockstar said before SA was 13.9 and since most people here seem to think RDR is bigger it couldnt be only 25 when you factor in that they also said that it would be 3.5 times RDR.

RDR is actually around the same size or smaller than SA. It only seems bigger because you have to travel by horse.

I still dont understand why people dont  just use the information from the stats menu when you pause the game. It measures how many feet you have traveled. Ive seen everything from some guy using taxis as rulers to people comparing how fast the characters run to get a distance. Also people use 2 buildings from 2 different games and say theyre the same height. All that stuff is so dumb

Using taxis to measure the map size makes sense if you think about it. The taxis in San Andreas and GTA IV have each the same length as far as I'm aware so from that point of view, it would actually make sense. However, trying to measure the map size with running characters is very inaccurate, because no human being runs exactly as fast as another human being. Or using objects from one game and putting it in the image of another game isn't very accurate either, although it really depends on how you are doing it. The main problem would be the angle, especially if you are comparing two seperate scenes with each other; if you don't consider that, then the result might be way off. The most accurate estimation is, like you said, using the distance information in the menu statistics. That and the measurements with the taxis are definitely the most accurate methods for estimating the map size.
