It probably won't, but I know that it will be an amazing game and it already looks better than IV. It might score the same as IV, but definitely not higher. I think it will most likely end up around 95 or 96.

It's not as good as I expected it to be. I would give it a 8.8/10.

u serious? the demo doesn't show the quality and the whole greatness of this game. It was only 17 minutes of gameplay AT NIGHT!!! Play the whole thing first before you rate it for gods sake! sarcasm.gif

This thread is full of very smart people.. Just saying, lets just lower our expectations now and expect a 85% GTA and be blown away..

Nothing against IV, because all GTA's are still fun despite not being perfect in their own ways, but how the f*%$ did GTA IV outscore San Andreas 98-95???

Your telling me. I am shocked at how Rockstar Table Tennis is not in here! lol

Is the demo for The Last of Us public yet? I couldn't find it on the store today...

I'm gonna guess the score being in the 85-95% range, more biased towards the lower end of that scale.

The game is going to be ambitious as hell, but the technical problems coming from larger play areas can hurt the score.

The 3 character narrative might be a negative in the eyes of the reviewers as well.

Either way, I don't think it will get a super high score, but will be a fun game that is definitely a day 1 purchase

Just thinking realistically.

Most of the people are mad that The Last of Us can beat GTA V. So they cry about how The Last of Us sucks. Even though it could be better then GTA V.

Too bad GTA IVs lowest score on Metacritic was an 86. TLoU.. Well, I'd hit up Gamespot.com if you'd like to know.

Gamespot are 360 fanboys. I say that with sincerity. They almost always give every PS3 exclusive a notably lower score than the average.

No, they just don't give 10/10 for every PS3 exclusive that comes out. I respect them for that. Notice that there are only three games on this site with the maximum score - two of them are GTA IV and MGS4:GotP (which is a PS3 exclusive).

I just find it hard to accept that after all the praise TLoU has been getting, and how it has supposedly delivered after all the hype, Gamespots short, unproffesional review was 100% unbiased. An 8/10 for a game like this just doesn't sit right, especially considering they have not even awarded a score that low for any of the recent (COD4-) COD games.

Perhaps they have a different taste or they aren't as biased as 99% of reviewers. For example, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves gets about 96% on Metacritic, while I wouldn't give it more than 70%.

Honestly, I don't care if it beats V, but TLoU seems like a pretty ordinary, heavily scripted and linear cinematic game with mediocre gameplay at best. Most of the reviewers are just praising it's storyline (something I really don't care about).

Isn't that the whole point of a linear game? The gameplay, AI, controls, and mostly everything looks better then what GTA V will have if I judge that with GTA IV, RDR, and MP3.

*Note: I'm talking about controls and gameplay

I'm sure there'll be the usual mad reviewers who give a game of this awesomeness a 60/100 - I don't get these magazines - seriously. and then it's really hard to get a perfect score of 100 at metacritic!

Realistically it should, but with certain peoples ridiculous expectations these days and with next gen right around the corner, I doubt it will beat GTA 4.

I get really mad if GTAV doesn't get at least 99 out of 100.

compared to GTA IV it should get 1000/100 - no if this rating system would be serious, GTAV should get 100/100 easily.

I don't see how that is possible considering Last of Us is a linear game and GTA is a free-roam action game. Two different genres. Both games are great in their particular genre.

I played Last of Us, loved the story and the game but guess what? After I beat it and played it some more I realized there was nothing to do and the game is basically a coaster until I get the odd urge to play mutiplayer.

On the other side, GTAV is a game that will have a storyline for us to complete and then on top of that we will have a huge world to free-roam in and do various activities. Already the longevity of the game and gaming experience is way above Last of Us. I don't need to have played V to know that I will be playing it for years to come unlike a linear game like Last of Us. I know this from my previous experiences with GTA's.

Honestly I am not bashing Last of Us, it was a great game but what made it great was the story. After that is done, there is nothing left to do but replay it again. Which will get old fast.

3/4 of the people I know no longer play Last of Us and a few of those people said they regret buying it for the very reason that it is a linear game and when you look past the story you see it's just a hyped up PS3 exclusive. And no, I am not saying this because I have something against the PS3 or Sony as you think I do redx because I once defended the PC against angry console fanboys. My PS3 is my main gaming console right now and I am no fanboy of any platform. I have no reason, I own all of them and a decent gaming PC.

Once V comes out, most people will have forgotten about Last of Us and moved on. You can get angry at this statement but that doesn't make it any less true.

Honestly I haven't had the urge to play TLOU since I finished it. It's a great game, but it's one of those games I'll revisit down the track instead of playing it again and again.

So instead I'm working on a save of GTA IV. wink.gif

I haven't played Last of Us for weeks and I have no urge to either.

I am replaying GTA SA and GTA IV right now. Those games I can keep coming back to no matter how many years have passed, that's the magic of a free-roam game like GTA. lol.gif

GTA4 Lack customizations and fun things to do, few other things that made the game boring after a while but GTA5 look like it going to restore the order possible best gta game ever and one of greatest games. GTA4 was good but lack in some areas.

It will be the same - 98% - Not every reviewer will give a perfect score.

I loved GTA IV, it got such high scored because of how advanced it was for it's time. I'm sure it could of gotten 100% if Rockstar didn't cut content they thought wasn't needed, but those features are coming back in GTA V. GTA IV was a huge jump in open worlds and what you can do if you put time and effort into a game.

With GTA V, as amazing as it will be, it doesn't show as much 'new' things to the series as GTA IV did. We know about RAGE, we know about Euphoria, we know about amazing attention to detail, and while it will be one of the biggest games of the decade or so, it doesn't show hugely new core features that GTA IV introduced. However, I could be wrong, as Rockstar did say they were re-defining open world games, everything could change, they could make it so vastly huge that anything you think of is what you can do in the game.

Oh, and most reviewers now only care about graphics and multiplayer, so that will affect the score quite a lot.

It's an improved game from IV, to V, it should.

Even though it's improved, it won't have the 'impact' GTA4 had that made reviewers go, wow I'm giving this a 10. So being better will not necessarily get it a higher metacritic score.

I don't think it can contend with titles such as Bioshock and Mass Effect on metacritic, Adventure/Action/RPGs tend to trounce Shooters and Sandbox Action games because of their writing, and they appeal to a more broadened audience, Its nothing to do with the quality of the game, it's the genre of GTA

Also Metacritic is community driven, Look at Call of Duty MW3, It was so low that Infinity Ward asked Valve not to show the scores on Steam.

I think GTA V will be better than IV but i doubt it will have higher scores. I mean i like IV but it does not deserve perfect scores, it was not perfect. Red Dead Redemption for exemple was for many better then GTA IV yet it have lower scores :[

i THINK it will beat GTA IV purley because GTA V is a massive upgrade over the old game, graphicly and content wise its clearly ahead of GTA IV, and it looks to be a better game, and usually better game means higher score tounge.gif

just my opinion though so smile.gif

GTA 4 shouldn't have been rated that high.

Yes it should. Now it's older, and that makes flaws easier to see, but when it came out, it deserved the 98/100.

OP: GTA V will most likely get 97 to 99.

No, it wont beat 98%. It will probably be in the 92-96 range. Be realistic people, just because GTAV has better graphics, more features, a huge diverse map and so on, does not guarantee a higher score, especially when that score is 98 which is literally almost impossible to beat. ALMOST EVERY reviewer out of the 100 odd people that review it will have to give it a perfect score. Yeah, that's just not going to happen. GTAIV was top of the market in pretty much every aspect, which is why it wowed everyone so much. People are less forgiving towards technical faults these days. GTAV's graphics are good, but not amazing for 2013 like GTAIV's were in 2008. That alone is enough to warrant a non perfect score. Then you have the glitches will WILL be present and will also bring the score down.
