Think GTA V will beat GTA IV (98%) on Metacritic?

GTA V will definitely be better than IV but will they give it a review score to reflect this? I don't know. I think IV scored way too high. They need to give V a higher score. It would be stupid to give it a lower score and essentially say that IV>V.

"If" it scores lower I'd imagine this place will be full of "why did it score lower than GTA IV?" threads and I'll sit back in my chair twiddling my fingers with a Mr Burns "excellent" in my mind because I'm a c*nt.

IV will always have a special place in my heart for being the game that made me buy a PS3 and got be back into gaming after a long hiatus. It's pretty much the first game/console I bought to reward myself as a working adult out in the real world and Niko's story was so relatable I just couldn't put the controller down.

 

However, V (the inevitable sunny, feature-heavy sequel to IV in the spirit of VC/SA) was that game I always knew would come one day when I first played IV/PS3... I just had no idea how long I'd have to wait. My body is ready.

 

OT: What if V also received a 98 on Metacritic and tied IV for highest rated game this gen? That would be fitting. Pure GTA domination!

Depends how you look at it. I had more fun playing SA then I had playing IV but when I go back to SA now I get annoyed by a lot of things that IV fixed / changed. Hard to tell what's the better game.

There are still gaming publications that are super obsessed with graphics, so it won't score as high as IV. At the time, IV's graphics were revolutionary, and while V looks considerably better in every aspect, it doesn't look perfect by today's standard.

 

Most publications aren't stupid though, and they'll realise for what GTA V is, the graphics are fantastic.

As far as I'm concerned VC is the only GTA as great as GTA IV. IMO of course.

 

Don Corleone: What's "better" is entirely up to you my friend. I got a good laugh from the previous page looking at the petty arguments because at the end of the day a game (like anything really) is only as good as the individual thinks it is.

I don't really care about these reviews because biased and they tend to put story over everything.

Look at BioShock Infinite, it had a neat story but nothing else.

It would've deserved 6/10 rather than the countless 10/10 scores but oh well...

I don't even want to start about how reviews use the 10/10 too inflationary.

Yes, it was better than the ps2 era GTA games in every single gameplay mechanic. It might have had less variety, but it wasn't built on top of other games like the previous ones.

From some previews ( especially the lastest russian ) you can hear some conserns about alot of small things like technical stuff and mission design ( some said the missions didnt make much sense)

 

sure it was a Alpha/beta so it can get slightly better.

 

 

Overall I think GTAV will be 85-90 ( imo )

 

I already predicted a line I bet we will read in some reviews ( was a while ago) which will say:

 

"Its 'just' another GTA but a huge improvement to its predecessor"

 

That basicly means it wont be something groundbreaking or totally innovative but a really solid Game.

And I will mention Watch Dogs in that case. Cause Watch Dogs is pretty innovative in the Open World Genre.

God you ppl are idiots saying IV was bad. They focused on QUALITY for IV, instead of the number of side activities and sh*t. The graphics and physics are vastly improved from SA. IV was a more mature game, that's why so many immature idiots hate it.

Quality doesn't matter, it's all about the gameplay.

There are much higher technical expectations, R* are taking more design choice risks than they did with IV, we are at the end of the console cycle so the graphics will be scrutinized, especially next to The Last of Us (even though that is a completely unfair comparison, IGN Colin Moriarty did both TLoU review and that bullsh*t GTAV preview in May). I would estimate somewhere in the 92-96 range.

I know it is, but unfortunately their score will still contribute to the Metacritic score, and I would bet money that they will give it a 9.5, not a 10, bringing it down from 98.

I just find it hard to accept that after all the praise TLoU has been getting, and how it has supposedly delivered after all the hype, Gamespots short, unproffesional review was 100% unbiased. An 8/10 for a game like this just doesn't sit right, especially considering they have not even awarded a score that low for any of the recent (COD4-) COD games.

It has a chance, but I don't think it'll happen. 98 is pretty damn high and hard to beat. Something that might let it down is graphics because they're similar to GTA4's from 2008. It's sad, but games are judged on appearance.
