Druffmaul
You Clearly Haven't played Red Dead Redemption to say that it's a copy of GTA. What's with the denial about RDR being GTA set in the old west? Sorry, but that's exactly what it is. THAT'S WHY IT'S SO GODDAMN WONDERFUL.

gtamann123
It will come down to GTA V and The Last Of Us for GOTY and I feel it may go to tlou. Just how the media is (Fable 2 got most of the game of the year awards in 2008 instead of GTA IV) so unless GTA V is even better than we expect than I could see the last of us taking it. But hey second ain't bad. It's kind if sad how you have two incredible games coming out and then it's huge drop off from there in terms of everything else that's coming out. The Last of Us isn't a zombie game. They are not dead. It's base on a true fungus that infects ants. I ain't going to say its the best game ever cause I haven't played it yet. But judging on the demos it feels like most of the game is a cut scene. That's how real it feels. This game has a feel of The Walking Dead and Uncharted combine. It feels different then most Linear games. They say you have a choice in how you want to play. Also SA is a AAA title so of course there is going to be people waiting outside. The whole world knows about Grand Theft Auto V ( Same with COD ). So there is going to be more people waiting outside for that game. Kinda unfair to judge a game that everyone knows about to a game with only a quarter of the gamers know about. I didn't even see to much advertising about The Last of Us. So only PlayStation fans know about them. Not even half know about The Last of Us. It's a unheard title.

Nemesis2252
the only thing that could hurt GTA V's value is the 3 protagonist system. im not saying its a bad idea, but its a new system that could pay off well, or have devestating results. you can switch characters at any time, and use any character you want when not on a mission, but sometimes during missions the game will force switch you. if R* pulls off this 3 protagonist system, i think GTA V will win GotY for sure. we know its going to be an epic open world, do anything game with lots of time-consuming activities and collectables. maybe the graphics arent eye-popping because of the dated current-gen systems and the open-world aspect, but a game shouldnt be based on graphics anyways, all about the gameplay
Input
I agree with some of the others, depending how they go about the 3 protagonist system will really decide how well the game will be rated. And I'm confident that they did it extremely well. But on a different note, can someone tell me why this "The Last of Us" is so great? I'm sure it has a good story and all, and real well done graphics... But the gameplay doesn't really seem all that great. Honestly it looks pretty generic to the standards of stealth games. If you're trying to disassociate yourself from that stigma, you're doing a very poor job by trying to make The Last of Us an exception to the rule. It's also one of the highest selling used titles on Gamestop.com. People are starting to appreciate it now but like everything else when something slightly deviates from what came before people will get mad. If the Beatles came out today people would complain that they didn't sound like Hard Day's Night on every album. That is just what fans are like today. That Rockstar showed some balls and took a risk is to their credit. Many great things are heavily criticized in their time. People have the right to their view but they need to learn that just because they really like one game it doesn't mean that Rockstar needs to xerox it every year with slight variations like other companies do. Not all gamers are like this but many really are like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. They are grown men still obsessed with Comic Books and Cartoons. Most of the people who work at Gamestop look like they live in their mom's basement and haven't been anywhere near a real woman. Nothing wrong with those things but some of us like me want something more adult and the fact that a game company makes a game that caters to folks like me is not a reason to get mad and act like they murdered a member of your family. The way some people take IV personally is hilarious as if Rockstar purposely made it to insult them. I prefer dark and cynical humor over poop and fart jokes myself. TLOU very much does come across as a believable post apocalyptic game. It's not stupid for the sake of being stupid like so many seem to want GTA to be. It seems like a well made horror game. Algonquin Assassin
I don't know about anyone else, but the day I play GTA V I wont be thinking about it getting GOTY or its review scores. If it "impresses" me that's all that matters (to me of course). Why do people think I'm so adamant with my fandom of GTA IV? The game impressed me on release and still impresses me today and I don't care if people agree or not. I'm going to buy The Last Of Us, but I really couldn't give a sh*t if it gets GOTY over GTA V. I'm sure I'll enjoy them both for different reasons.
Dlee13
The Last of Us is getting 10/10s and 5*s left right and centre, and it's looking like it might be GTA V's biggest contender for game of the year. In my opinion, a game with less than 20 hours of content (I saw somewhere it's about 15 hours long) with linear missions should never be 10/10 nowadays, but hey, I haven't played it yet. So guys, bearing in mind that A.) we need to try to be unbiased... and B.) Neither game is released yet, who do you PREDICT game of the year will go to? I remember reading that Rock* said GTA V will have 25-30 hours of gameplay, around the same amount of time as Red Dead Redemption?
Alenko
Is "The Last Of Us" even out yet? I haven't been following up on it that much. A week away, man. This should hold me down for a little bit for V.
warchild3529
GTA offers waaaay more content and features. The amount of gameplay hours you can put in this game... The replay value is a 110% and they can't deny R* has made the best virtual city ever. So detailed, so vibrant, so alive... If GTA V isnt the best game of 2013, i dont know what to say... Amen!
