josephene123
The Last of Us is getting 10/10s and 5*s left right and centre, and it's looking like it might be GTA V's biggest contender for game of the year. In my opinion, a game with less than 20 hours of content (I saw somewhere it's about 15 hours long) with linear missions should never be 10/10 nowadays, but hey, I haven't played it yet. So guys, bearing in mind that A.) we need to try to be unbiased... and B.) Neither game is released yet, who do you PREDICT game of the year will go to? Who gives a sh*t? Well, I don't. Also just because this game is linear and only got 15-20 hours of storyline it doesn't deserve a 10/10? Not every game has to be like GTA. It's a totally different genre and they got their own rating system or whatever. Worry not, GTA V will get stellar ratings. And this time hopefully also fully deserved unlike with IV (it was a little too overrated in my opinion). Even Bioshock Infinite was kinda overrated which still was a great game, a masterpiece in storytelling but not that great in gameplay.

guitarviking
Well... We could try and... WAIT till we've played the goddamn games? People have been saying GOTY so many f*cking times, and no one has played it. It could be sh*t, though it won't, cause R* never makes sh*t and it's GTA. But still, the whole "which do you think?" is kindda pointless when no one has even tried either game, except reviewers who've played The Last Of Us. Though, The Last Of Us has the advantage of being something slightly newer, than GTA is. I won't get to experience it though, since I don't have a PS. Ridiculous :b Yeah I guess it is, but imo it's a hella lot better than all the "Is Michael Claude?" and "How big is the map?". Tbh most of the stuff on this site is based on just the screens and trailers. But hey, we have Rockstar's reputation for making world beating games in the past, the fact that they've been quite a few years in development, vs (I don't know how long TLoU has been in development) Naughty Dog's stellar reputation and the reviews they've been racking up too. I have no idea who will win it but I think it has to be close.

exmpletree
GTA offers waaaay more content and features. The amount of gameplay hours you can put in this game... The replay value is a 110% and they can't deny R* has made the best virtual city ever. So detailed, so vibrant, so alive... If GTA V isnt the best game of 2013, i dont know what to say... It's not a bad post, not at all, especially not compared to some of the other sh*t :b Yeah, we do, and I do firmly believe it will be a contender for GOTY, but as I said, we don't know anything yet, but I think everyone is expecting it to be one of the best in years, which I reckon The Last of Us is aswell, so. Watch_dogs might be a third contender, I just don't think it looks that great personally, some of the things in the game seems like they were just put in to fill, and isn't done as well as they could be (thinking about the gameplay where he drives... Looks like sh*t).

The Scottish Guy
After the absolute sin of Max Payne 3 not winning a single award last year, I wouldn't be too optimistic about V picking up GOTY. GTAaLEX117
TLoU seems interesting, but it looks very storyline oriented, and I personally don't consider the storyline to be a crucial part of any game. Once you've beaten it, what next? You already know how it plays out. It's the gameplay that gives the game a lasting appeal.

Once you've beaten it, what next? You already know how it plays out. It's the gameplay that gives the game a lasting appeal. That's exactly why I don't think games around 15 hours long deserve 10/10s. Obviously though, there will be others who think the story is a lot more important than we do. Obviously you can replay missions and approach them differently from what I've heard, but if I already know what happens I personally can hardly ever be bothered to go through it. Even when a GTA game ends, I struggle to find the same enjoyment out of f*cking everything about. The only games I've replayed extensively are Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3, and Oblivion
zainzombie
There has to be something VERY awesome in the TLOU to get such reviews. I have no idea if GTA V can beat it. With everything we have read/heard about the game it definitely sounds like it could, but its really hard to say. I honestly thought TLOU would be a great game with majority of the scores to be 9's and 9.5's but this 10.. 10 .. 10 .. 10 .. 10.. is scary. I will have to wait till I play TLOU to say if GTA V can or cannot win the GOTY against TLOU but it seems like that even if V does deliver (which it probably will since its GTA) the competition is tough... REALY tough.
TheWarzoneXL
From the demos that I've watched of The Last of Us, I wasn't really impressed. It just looks very linear and bland.
ALeSsAnDrO
It's clear by now that reviewers nowadays are heavily biased towards games that focus strongly on story. That explains the insane ratings Bioshock Infinite had, a typical run-of-the-mill FPS but with great story/mythos execution. Most reviewers just jump on the praise bandwagon, or tend to review games based on the most basic impressions and vibes they get. Gameplay mechanics, graphics, details and work put into more technical stuff gets thrown to the side. That's why reviews dont really matter. Gamers know quality when they see it. TheGodDamnMaster
I have faith that R* will buy the reviews to get perfect scores so that it can compete with The Last of Us. Besides, the best-scoring game doesn't always get GOTY awards. IGN gave Fallout 3 GOTY 2008 over GTA IV and it had a lower score. There's a allot of conspiracies going about as soon as a game gets a very low or every high score, that doesn't mean somebody "bought" it. 2. R* doesn't need to do anything, and GTA V will sell like hotcakes, even if gets a general score of 8.
bfett21
Too many games haven't come out yet. GTAV may be a contender, but none of us have seen real gameplay or even played it. TLOU looks PRONOMINAL, Bioshock Infinite was decent. Lets wait until November before even discussing this.
