How long until Pre-order/SE/CE content becomes DLC

HOW'S ANNIE?

Looking back at both L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption, there's a good chance all the Pre-Order, Special Edition and Collector's edition content will become paid DLC. But (assuming it does) how long do you think this will take? For Red Dead it was about 10-12 months before it all did, but for L.A Noire it only took like 2-3 months. I'm unsure which pattern they'll follow, if they do at all?

What do you think?

Probably 365 days-ish..

unless its all in one pack I wont buy it.

They'll probably release a season pass for that

Yes, I would love to buy back content I already paid for... Um, I just hope they have some decency and give it to us for free later on. DLC is a joke.

Prob 3-4 months. We'll see what the season pass entails likely closer to release.....Oh the joys of modern gaming...

They may drop DLC at different times in separate packs. The first DLC say 3 months after release then on for say another 6-9 months after that. Then come September 2014 maybe a GOTY edition release with all DLC included.

No rush to go next-gen just yet. cool.gif

It would be a real kick in the balls if they waited that long, but seems more than likely that's what will happen

Well, basing off from an email I sent to Rockstar they evaded saying that the CE DLC is exclusive so you guys will get it as well just that you will get it later biggrin.gif

Although, I am not certain when it will probably be a year but no more than that.

I'll be pretty pissed if the classic online characters becomes a DLC for everyone in the future, wouldn't feel right for me.

Anyway I'm guessing a month or two after release

I for one hope they don't. It gives us hardcore fans something to gloat about. Although, I feel that the eventual release of the DLC is inevitable. I just hope that some stuff will remain exclusive.

No, why only let a certain amount of people have 100% of the game. Everyone should have the right to get it.

I shouldn't even waste my time with you, you're obviously one of those selfish, entitled consumers that throw a fit when a company tries to expand the lifetime of their game by adding extra, additional features.

If this was a game like CoD, I would understand. But GTAV? A game in development for 5 years and has tonnes of features which will revolutionize the video game industry. A couple extra features shouldn't mean that much to you. And if they do, then its your choice for not buying them. Most developers include day 1 DLC as a dirty scam tactic, but do not mistake R* for one of these devilish corporations.

Its funny too, considering you always say you're a true GTA fan. Yeah, right.

What do you say about those who missed out because they currently don't have the cash? Or missed out because all copies of the Special and Collector's editions were sold out when they went to order?

I am a true GTA fan but I'm not one that s*cks Rockstar d*ck when ever they want. We all know they took this out for some extra cash. But anyways why should people who get SE and CE get to keep those add ons? Why are they entitled? Everyone should be able to get it. At a certain time anyways.

Not sure about Australia, but GameStop in the US is still taking pre orders for SE and CE. I guess if you don't have the $$ then you can't have all the stuff. Same as any game these days really. It sucks, but apparently, that's how it's gonna be from now on. I'm sure that R* however will release all DLC eventually.

Well I went to EB games (Australian equivelent of Gamestop) to order my SE. They said they had ordered only 50 specials and 5 collectors and that I was number 2 on the list if someone decided they didn't want their Special (since all unavailable Collectors Editions were being differed to Specials). So I'm almost sh*t out of luck getting mine.

It's a limited edition for a reason, it wouldn't feel right to make it limited then out of nowhere make it unlimited for everyone just because they couldn't afford it.

I HOPE it's a first come first serve

Now that's greedy and selfish. There's a reason no company does that. They want the cash. Why take out a piece of the game for only a few? You can make double the amount you would if you give it to everyone for a cost.

Not buying it doesn't mean you can't afford it. I just think it's a foolish waste of money to spend so much on it, knowing that it will be dlc. I could easily afford it if I wanted to, but I can't justify the price difference. I'm in college and I have better ways to spend that money.

I'm not saying that's the only reason, I'm referring to Mr.Red$$$$ here who is obsessed with saving his money, and clearly states that in every single post this month.

Greedy or not, d*ck move if they make it available that's just my 2cents

Why would it be a dick move? You can buy the normal edition and wait for the dlc too. Nobody is forcing you to spend so much.

I do think that the whole special/collectors edition thing is a dick move by R* though, but it is just a way to make extra profit, just like making it available for everyone later on will give them more profit.

To be honest, holding ANY DLC as a part of the MAIN ATTRACTION to a Special/Collectors Edition is a dick move full stop. It's a trend I really hate with video games these days, cutting content out of games so they can offer it as "Exclusive" DLC in their special edition packs is bullsh*t, Special and Collectors Editions should be reserved for actual physical things, you pay more money, you should get more physical things, as it stands I think the GTAV Collectors Edition is a complete rip off when you compare it to the GTA IV Special Edition and even last years Max Payne 3 Collectors Edition, the GTAV Collectors Edition just looks cheap in comparison yet ironically costs the most. You get LESS Physical things with GTAV Collectors Edition yet MORE DIGITAL In-Game Content, it doesn't make sense, it doesn't cost Rockstar ANYTHING to give out codes for this stuff, so why are they charging a mad premium price for it? Again, compare it to GTA IV, there we got an actual metal lock box, a duffel bag, an art booklet and a soundtrack CD along with a keyring, etc and that's nearly HALF THE PRICE of GTAV's Collectors Edition.

John The Grudge

At the outrageous price they're charging for the Collector's Edition I'd be surprised if that content ever becomes available as dlc. Even though I think people who buy it are suckers, it would be very unfair of Rockstar to sell that stuff as dlc after those people forked out so much money for it. Let's be honest, nobody's buying it for the hat are they. When you pay that much money exclusive should mean exclusive.
