Do you think R* put it in V. it would be amazing to steal an f1 racecar and zoom around los Santos? God I would love that sh*t.

There is an oval racetrack on the northeast corner of the portion of the map that was released with the SE & CE announcement.

I thought I heard that for horse racing. Am I imagining things?

no one knows if it's horse or cars, but the speculation right now is horses...

i doubt theyd waste that much space for horses (at least in the city)

id bet money on it being a raceway for vehicles (whether its dirt or asphalt)

Miami-Florida.

It looks to have 2 oval tracks. The raceway on the outside & horse track inside the raceway in a oval field.

The mapping thread pretty much confirmed that to be a horse racing track. And why would you doubt it, San andreas had a horse racing track....

And to answer the OP, yes there are several. Irwindale speedway (which I've dragged there), California speedway, willow springs and many more. Not all of these are in "Los Angeles" but they are in southern California.

I hope that track is for racecars. That track has quickly become one of the most anticipated areas of the map for me. biggrin.gif

Did it? I don't remember that. I remember horse betting but the race was in 2D.

I believe one of the preview things mentioned spotting an off-road track out in the country when Franklin was skydiving? I hope there are a few off-road tracks around the game. Even Vice City had 2 of them, so hoping for a few isn't too much I think.

It would be hard for me to care much less about an oval track unless it brought with it some awesome NASCAR mockery.

Perhaps some go-kart tracks? We had one in IV but of course no go-kart to play with on it, but it could be another mini-game type thing to do, and if there are friend activities it could work, as well as maybe being a multiplayer mini-game.

A proper racetrack (2-ish miles long) with elevation changes and a variety of corners would be cool, and could actually add something to the game. It could give us a racing side mission to do as Franklin (since he is the driver of the group), a place to steal unique race cars from, a place to compare cars with maybe a working lap time counter, a proper circuit to use for online racing.

If we had the proper racetrack, then perhaps even a heist there? Set during a vintage racing weekend, the goal could be to steal a group of vintage race cars/collector cars for a rich overseas buyer. Strategies could include just flat stealing the cars out of the paddock and driving them to a nearby warehouse while evading the cops, and then loading them into a truck to haul to the docks to be put into containers, and pre-heist preparations would include renting a warehouse and truck and stealing the planned paddock map. Another could be purchasing your own car and entering Franklin in the races and having him cause as gentle of a crash as possible with the target vehicles, then having Michael and Trevor disguised as tow-truck drivers haul the cars away. Preparation would involve finding and purchasing a car, practicing the circuit and such, acquiring tow trucks and uniforms, and finding a garage that can quickly repair the damaged target vehicles and the money to repair them.

Lots of cities have horse race tracks, I'm sue there will be enough road surface to race cars on

Judging by the glimpses we've got of the place in various screenshot and the positioning on the map it's definitely a horse track.

The track on the map in the north-eastern part of the city is probably the Irwindale Speedway:

It's confirmed on the mapping thread?

That's pure speculation.

Nothing is confirmed, everything is permitted.

there was no physical horse race track in san andreas. why would they put a horse track in the city over a speedway in grand theft AUTO? doesnt make as much sense as a raceway. i wouldnt be surprised to see a horse track in the country though (maybe use it as a dirt raceway too)

Surprise, surprise; This isn't San Andreas. So they can put pretty much whatever they want, where they want it. Re-imagined SoCal, remember? Besides it would be a very smart move on their part, everybody loved it in RDR, not to mention Horse Racing betting is big business, lots of money to be made.

Well, ok. However, they did find a horse racing track IRL with a layout very similar to the layout on the blueprint map (I mean more than just the oval shape). I guess, you're right, it's not confirmed...

Can someone post a link to the picture of the map with the raceway/horseway in it?

And I think a simple racetrack without traffic, peds and weapons would be great for GTA multiplayer races.

Sneakerhead.

Hope it's a Racing Track, Horse Racing is boring as sh*t. (Though the payouts are amazing)

Well there is nothing in LA that matches the shape of that on the map aside from the Santa Anita horse race track. Maybe we'll get a racetrack in the countryside, which would make much more sense knowing the area.

Still, the buildings they put in LS make sense when you look at LA's geography. So there is no indication they'd stray away from this with putting a giant racing track in the city.
