Just wanna some fuel to our  big flaming bonfire.

SA is bigger. RDR is not the 28 Sqm R* said.

rockstar never said 28 miles, they said its ROUGHLY twice as big as san andreas, dan houser said that... you know, the guy that made the f*cking games we are arguing about! suicidal.gif

Yep, is there the tiniest possibility he could be wrong?

nope. sure isnt. he made the game. all the fanboys and crayon maps in the world wont prove him wrong!

So how big is SA?

smaller than san andreas biggrin.gif i saw a link where some rockstar employee supposedly said 12.8 square miles which is fine but when i post 2 similar links of dan houser saying rdr is roughly twice as big as san andreas people call bullsh*t?

SA is smaller than San Andreas? Huh?

If Red Dead Redemption is roughly two times as big as 12.8 m and the whole map is 5 x RDR, are you expecting a map which is in the 90s Sq M range...?

with water included? who knows? you could fly forever in past gtas over the ocean. all i know is dan houser said rdr is begger than san andreas, and when i play them it is very obvious that san andreas is a much smaller game and scaled incorrectly. it is stupid to assume that the measurements given for san andreas map size are correct. thats why i gave you the hoover damn comparison. its 1300ft long in real life... you mean to tell me its really 1300ft in the game?

also... does it look almost 800ft tall?lol

they scale these games differently. this dam is half the size of the hoover dam in real life, yet the one rockstar rendered in V is just as big as the hoover dam they rendered in san andreas.

those are 3 story buildings in that screen. you cant go off of in game measurements. a mile or a km is whatever they say it is and changes from game to game. you cant compare two games with in game measurements because there is no proof that they are the same and lots of proof that they vary greatly. a mile may actually look like a real mile in V because things are scaled properly. everything was undersized in san andreas but the measurements in game said they werent.

I think clearly this is much larger then the dam in GTA V

I'm not going to argue with you about the dam stuff because I can't, I don't know enough about it, but what I can argue with you about is that GTA V will not be in the 90 sq m range, even nearly.

No... its not. Look at those cars, and then look at the three story buildings in the GTA v pic. San Andreas got away with undersized objects by exaggerating the in game mmeasurements. Rdr is clearly bigger. And yes obviously GTA v is bigger than San Andreas as well

Are you for real?

1. Those are quite clearly trucks/ vans

2. This is significantly larger than the dam in V, if you can't see that then I'm going to stop bothering

I don't know about you guys, but RDR looks huge in this

and I'm pretty sure that's not the full map.

I don't have one for San Andreas, but here's one for IV.

Compare the size of buildings on the RDR map to similarly sized ones on SA's map.

Yeah. You're horribly mistaken.

I don't know how ANYONE gets these figures. I don't believe RDR was bigger than San Andreas, and after playing BOTH of those games for countless hours, I'm amazed at how many people insist that it is. RDR was great, but stick some modern day vehicles in there, and suddenly it feels smaller than even GTAIV.

I'm not even sure Rockstar knows for sure. Do they even keep track of exact measurements? And if they DO, how does it translate into square miles? How do people on the internet come up with the square miles of these games?

It's definitely not as small as GTA IV. RDRedemption is R*'s biggest map, after SA.

Dan Houser writes games, he doesn't 'MAKE' them.

boy thats weird... he was the executive producer for red dead redemption.... read up first before you make stupid comments. he was a writer for san andreas. maybe if they had let him produce that one the map wouldnt have been so much smaller than red dead! cool.gif

Yes. GTA V's map is bigger than San Andreas. I think in San Andreas R* only took some places of Los Santos(Los Angles). And in V i think they will be taking almost every places of Los Santos(Los Angles).

lol of course, San Andreas is really small compared to Red Dead Redemption.

Actually it's not, and the playable area of RDR is a fair amount smaller.

But GTA V as a whole is definitely larger. The news of it being "GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, and San Andreas combined with room to spare" might not be true, but it's still quite large.

As large as the map may be though, Los Santos is unfortunately only the size of liberty city. Which didn't make sense to be considering that Los Angeles takes a up a much greater urban sprawl than New York.

Dan Houser: "This world(RDR) is two times larger than the one presented in GTA: San Andreas."

This quote is unreliable. It was in a foreign language article, which means it was translated from Houser's English to another language and now back to English indirectly.

It's also irrelevant, because even if Dan Houser said it, it's proved wrong by Red Dead Redemption's own in-game distance measurements.

In the context of deductive arguments, the appeal to authority is an logical fallacy, though it can be properly used in the context of inductive reasoning. It is deductively fallacious because, while sound deductive arguments are necessarily true, authorities are not necessarily correct about judgments related to their field of expertise. Though reliable authorities are correct in judgments related to their area of expertise more often than laypersons, they can still come to the wrong judgments through error, bias or dishonesty. Thus, the appeal to authority is at best a probabilistic rather absolute argument for establishing facts.
