SA is bigger. RDR is not the 28 Sqm R* said.

rockstar never said 28 miles, they said its ROUGHLY twice as big as san andreas, dan houser said that... you know, the guy that made the f*cking games we are arguing about! suicidal.gif

Yep, is there the tiniest possibility he could be wrong?

nope. sure isnt. he made the game. all the fanboys and crayon maps in the world wont prove him wrong!

I know they said it's bigger than LS, but will it be bigger than SA?

Have you been living under a rock? GTA V is bigger than San Andreas, IV's Liberty City and RDR combined.

In SQUARE Km

SA is smaller than San Andreas? Huh?

If Red Dead Redemption is roughly two times as big as 12.8 m and the whole map is 5 x RDR, are you expecting a map which is in the 90s Sq M range...?

with water included? who knows? you could fly forever in past gtas over the ocean. all i know is dan houser said rdr is begger than san andreas, and when i play them it is very obvious that san andreas is a much smaller game and scaled incorrectly. it is stupid to assume that the measurements given for san andreas map size are correct. thats why i gave you the hoover damn comparison. its 1300ft long in real life... you mean to tell me its really 1300ft in the game?

they scale these games differently. this dam is half the size of the hoover dam in real life, yet the one rockstar rendered in V is just as big as the hoover dam they rendered in san andreas.

those are 3 story buildings in that screen. you cant go off of in game measurements. a mile or a km is whatever they say it is and changes from game to game. you cant compare two games with in game measurements because there is no proof that they are the same and lots of proof that they vary greatly. a mile may actually look like a real mile in V because things are scaled properly. everything was undersized in san andreas but the measurements in game said they werent.

San Andreas is actually 13.9 square miles big, not 12.8 square miles. Just by taking a look at the official statements regarding the map size of GTAV, it is clear that Red Dead Redemption can not be bigger than San Andreas; it's more the size of Liberty City in GTA IV, perhaps slightly smaller/bigger.

Red Dead Redemption (6.5 square miles; it might be a bit off), San Andreas (13.9 square miles) and GTA IV (6.25 square miles) combined would be 26.65 square miles if we would take it word-by-word, which we shouldn't do. If we go by the statement that the land area of GTAV is 3.5 times bigger than RDR, then the result would be 22.75 square miles. If we include the underwater area, then the result would be 32.5 square miles and to be honest, that already sounds a bit too big.

Let's go by Choco Taco's statement that RDR is around 5.5 square miles big: 3.5 times of it would 19.25 square miles, and the underwater environment would be around 8.25 square miles big; that are 27.5 square miles in total of underwater and land area.

Just by reading all that, it should be more than clear that there is absolutely no way that Red Dead Redemption is bigger than San Andreas, not even close. Not everything that Rockstar and Dan Houser says is necessarily true.

Okay this is just getting ridiculous. Who cares which map is bigger. Op's question is answered. End of thread.

Why don't you continue this thread in the san andreas section.

By the way mods please move this thread to the san andreas section.

this is justgettinridiculous. You have no facts that back you up on your statement of RDR being bigger than SA. You're just backing Dan Houser's statement when his statement about GTA V being bigger than IV, SA, and RDR with room to spare might not be correct either. Don't believe in everything from Dan is all I can say or you're bound to get in some trouble.

BIGGER THAN SAN ANDREAS, IV AND RED DEAD REDEMPTION <!--SS-->COMBINED.<!--ES-->

Dan Houser: "This world(RDR) is two times larger than the one presented in GTA: San Andreas."

I would believe its the same size or even buy that its "slightly bigger than SA", but 2 times as big as SA.... No chance in hell.

Anyways, I could care less about the map size, I just brought it up because I dont want to see disappointed people on 17 September complaining about the map size.

The world of GTAV is 3.5 times the size of Red Dead Redemption's map, 5 times the size if you include underwater area (explorable ocean floor), which equals bigger than RDR, IV and SA COMBINED!

Um.. I know what they have been saying about the map size. My point was, they said RDR was twice as big as SA and IMO it wasnt, so I am pretty sure that V will be nowhere near as big as 3.5 times bigger than RDR (5 times with underwater) or SA+IV+RDR.

It will be pretty damn big.. but I dont think it will be THAT big.

SA is smaller than San Andreas? Huh?

If Red Dead Redemption is roughly two times as big as 12.8 m and the whole map is 5 x RDR, are you expecting a map which is in the 90s Sq M range...?

with water included? who knows? you could fly forever in past gtas over the ocean. all i know is dan houser said rdr is begger than san andreas, and when i play them it is very obvious that san andreas is a much smaller game and scaled incorrectly. it is stupid to assume that the measurements given for san andreas map size are correct. thats why i gave you the hoover damn comparison. its 1300ft long in real life... you mean to tell me its really 1300ft in the game?

also... does it look almost 800ft tall?lol

they scale these games differently. this dam is half the size of the hoover dam in real life, yet the one rockstar rendered in V is just as big as the hoover dam they rendered in san andreas.

those are 3 story buildings in that screen. you cant go off of in game measurements. a mile or a km is whatever they say it is and changes from game to game. you cant compare two games with in game measurements because there is no proof that they are the same and lots of proof that they vary greatly. a mile may actually look like a real mile in V because things are scaled properly. everything was undersized in san andreas but the measurements in game said they werent.

I think clearly this is much larger then the dam in GTA V

I'm not going to argue with you about the dam stuff because I can't, I don't know enough about it, but what I can argue with you about is that GTA V will not be in the 90 sq m range, even nearly.

No... its not. Look at those cars, and then look at the three story buildings in the GTA v pic. San Andreas got away with undersized objects by exaggerating the in game mmeasurements. Rdr is clearly bigger. And yes obviously GTA v is bigger than San Andreas as well

ChocoFrosty
lol of course, San Andreas is really small compared to Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar biggest map. Dan Houser did confirm this. Now GTA will take its place.

Nope. That is false.

RDR is not R*'s biggest map. Just no.
