Ok, tell me this.. You've been on these forums since 2009. Explain how Patrick is doing for me please? You know, on Spongebob.. Since he lives under a Rock? Good joke right?

Answer - Yes. And.. Wtf once more.

Have you been living under a rock? GTA V is bigger than San Andreas, IV's Liberty City and RDR combined.

lol of course, San Andreas is really small compared to Red Dead Redemption.

Actually it's not, and the playable area of RDR is a fair amount smaller.

But GTA V as a whole is definitely larger. The news of it being "GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, and San Andreas combined with room to spare" might not be true, but it's still quite large.

I agree with Mr Darko, They said RDR map will be twice as big as San Andreas........ It wasnt.

It will be bigger, but not as big as they are saying it will be.

RDR has been confirmed to be 28 sq mi. - SA is between 13.6 - 13.9 sq mi. Again, anyone who has played either of them thoroughly knows this simple fact.

Adding to this - "1 mile" on SA is more realistically 2 - 2.5 or 3 miles on RDR

28 sq mi? Isn't that more like the size of the landmass in GTA V?

Plus, RDR's playable area is much smaller than the size of its entire map, because it's landlocked but also still has to have stuff available to see beyond the distance so that it doesn't just drop off. There's very significant portions of the map that you can't access. One estimate I read put RDR's playable area at around the size of GTA IV, which sounded about right to me, actually (I think it's a fair bit wider, though). RDR feels much bigger, but it also offers much slower means of transportation. It still doesn't really take that long to go from one side to the other.

SA doesn't take that long, either, but cars go pretty fast in SA.

Yes, according to something I read in GameInformer a while ago they said it'll be bigger then SA, RDR and IV combined, that could be hyperbole, but if not then expect to see a amazingly huge map with a ton of detail since it's Rockstar.

Actually, on the official scales of the maps, RDR was scaled bigger than SA as a whole, so no you are wrong. RDR was alot bigger than SA, same way as GTAV is going to be bigger than SA & RDR combined.

Yeah, that is a bit upsetting. I wish they would have mentioned that that included underwater areas when they originally said that. Apparently the land mass itself 5 times the size of RDR, but with 30% of that being dedicated to interiors and underwater.

its common sense rdr is much bigger. look at the hoover dam in san andreas. in real life its like 1250ft long, in san andreas its a few hundred but the in game measuring tool tells you its real length. thats why dan houser said rdr is bigger.... its because it is. you can draw all the bullsh*t maps you want. doesnt change facts. sorry it bothers you

I'm not sure if Rockstar really stated this, but Red Dead Redemption's map is not anywhere as big as the map of San Andreas, let alone bigger, at least the explorable area. It may feel bigger because horses are the fastest means of transportation in RDR, but that doesn't mean it's a fact. The majority of map size estimations, the ones that are calculated and estimated correctly, clearly show that San Andreas is more than twice as big.

Are you seriously saying the maps we use are bullsh*t whilst using the in game measurements to back up YOUR point? Or have I misunderstood? And exactly WHY is it common sense?

These are the most accurate map size comparisons. San Andreas is the biggest, and I don't get how people think RDR could be bigger.

The pictures expired unfortunately, but the stats and measurements are still there.

no you dipsh*t. im saying dan houser clearly stated rdr was bigger than san andreas. the only people that say otherwise are san andreas fanboys on these forum using in game measurements. i was using the hoover dam in san andreas as an example. it is maybe a tenth of the size of the real hoover dam but if you look in the game the in game measurements tell you its close to the same. in game measurements are bullsh*t. i will go off what dan houser said, you can go off what you want. no one said we have to agree.
