GTAV running on a super slim PS3

Get an Xbox. biggrin.gif

I got a XBox 360. Got RRoD after a few months, too. Not many hours of gaming and the only game I played was IV.

So I don't recommend the XBox to anybody anymore. It's just a piece of crap. More than 75% of all (!) Xbox 360 will have the RRoD sooner or later. More sooner than later.

Your talking about the old Xbox , the new Xbox slim has nothing to worry about

I remember when consoles were about playing games without problems... I never was interested in the whole Xbox 360 and PS3 thing, that's why I play PC. Now, of course a PC can have the same amount of issues (especially if you run any version of Windows after XP). Gaming PC's are starting to get cheaper than consoles, but why do game developers insist on thinking aged consoles can run games nowadays? It's very silly... I'm waiting for the PC version, even if it does mean I need to wait a few months.

So, why does the slim PS3 have less power than the original? I still have my limited edition silver slim PS2, works fine and never had any problems whatsoever, and it didn't get limited on power for being slim.

I don't know more complicated hardware? constant firmware tweaking? games using software more thoroughly?

I mean, PS2 was one software and that's it, no update, and the hardware was limited so games couldn't get insanely instable

But I definitely agree that's f*cked up... ROD on xbox and YLOD on PS3 is f*cking outrageous, I will never accept that

Like you, my silver slim PS2 still working fine after all those years

Concerning the super slim PS3 I really don't think there is any power limitation, the one the thread start has might be factory faulty from the start

I wish more people learned the quick easy mods to fix an old Xbox 360 (obviously the newer models after 2010 run quietly).

I bought an early Xbox 360 from eBay about 2 years ago for £20.. yes £20, fully working and barely played.

I immediately cut the plastic mesh off the back around the extraction fan area, and screwed on a side fan which I soldered onto the inside to draw air in faster.

Fairly sure I replaced the thermal paste with arctic silver.

It runs quietly and cool-ly even under stress and I doubt it'll ever red ring on me.

your on point. xbox only had ROD because in most cases is lack of heat flow.

most people dont read the manual and put their boxes in a tiny hot corner... or put it on a table and then put stuff on the side or top [where air circulates]. and never clean up the dust inside.

i played my xbox once for 12 hour... didnt turn it off once. no problems. its well ventilated and great airflow.

I got an super slim 500GB that runs games like Black Ops or GTA IV fine. Does anyone have framerate drops in RDR when you're in a town like Armadillo? or is it normal?

The same thing happens with my FAT 40GB.

Would the old slim be better than the super slim?

Just realized - the PS3 with the GTA V + PS3 bundle is a super slim.

PS3 Slim owner here, previously had a fat PS3, wich overheated and thus broke, with the slim, I have yet to encounter any problems.

I heard PS3 Super Slim has smaller fans to cool down the console, so when you're playing games like GTA 5 it might freeze or overheat your console all because the fans are too small to keep up with the processing power...

I got the first fat one, should i be worried?

Nah.

I have one of the secon gen Fat ones (No BC for PS2 games and only two USB ports) and it runs like a champ nearly five years down the line, I'd assume yours should be the same. Dunno.

The fat Play Stations I swear by be it a 1,2 or 3 they're built like a tank.

Mine's dying ;(

6 years old and close to death.

But I hope it'll last for atleast a year or so, so I have time to play GTA V

I've got the fat 80GB model. It's ever so noisy while playing Red Dead Redemption, more so than any other game I own! During the hot summer months, I have to stop playing because of it, then there's concern of possible over-heating. Worst case scenario - GTA V kills the machine.

i have the 80gb fat one and everything runs smooth..... I think the fat ones are better build quality and the slims were made to cut down on costs

Make sure the following four things and all will be good

1. Active conditioner in summer -or- Put a fan near the console

2. Area of the console must be clean without dust

3. The laser lens should be clean

4. No scratched disks

I have PS3 Super Slim too

Had a super slim for 4 months now.

It has seen hundreds of hours of gameplay. The machine is absolutely fine.

Yes, it does feel cheap compared to previous models but it does the job. Plus IMO it's the best looking PS3.

Isnt the Bundle coming with the super slim ?

I don't think they would put that bundle together if it was gonna give people problems ...

I hope not anyway cuz I ordered the bundle myself .

i never understand why people worry about the slim lines they have the same powers as the fat consoles. If its overheating its because its doesn't have enough space to circulate the air around it
