It froze on the opening cutscene and continues to freeze to this day. I can be playing poker, running, or riding my horse. It will randomly freeze up at any given moment. That said, IV and LA Noire run perfect, so it could be my copy of RDR. Except it isn't. It runs perfectly on my parents first gen PS3, never froze once. So, for the owners of the super slim, does this happen to you and are you at all worried that the super slim just doesn't have the processing power to run a game as large and complex as GTAV? P.s yes, I've tried to switch PS3's with my parents because all they use it for is a Blu-ray player, but the old man is too stubborn and hasn't budged yet. StalinBballin Posted June 4, 2013 Author Share Posted June 4, 2013 ^you shouldn't be worried at all. The first gen PS3 has the processing power of a champion. The super slim doesn't process as fast, obviously. You can base that fact on the AA and slow loading textures in RDR alone. The difference is night and day. I have one of the secon gen Fat ones (No BC for PS2 games and only two USB ports) and it runs like a champ nearly five years down the line, I'd assume yours should be the same. Dunno. All my R* games are on Xbox, because that's all I owned up until a few months ago. Most of the Press demos have been on PS3 & I'm sure they weren't playing on an old PS3. I very much doubt you'll have the same problem with V. If you do, then don't do anything stupid, like jump out of a ten story building. So I don't recommend the XBox to anybody anymore. It's just a piece of crap. More than 75% of all (!) Xbox 360 will have the RRoD sooner or later. More sooner than later. Seriously if I still had my X360 I would buy that version nevertheless which would be superior frame rate wise or graphics wise because I prefer it's controller. And that's, IF I buy a multiplat for a console when a PC version will be available after a few months of wait. The super slim has the same specs as any other PS3. It's just updated components. Should play games just like any other PS3. If you're having issues it's most likely a fault. Cause I gave my launch day Xbox 360 to my little brother and to this day that thing still works... Sure it makes a lot of noise but by God it still works. You just got a bad model like the OP. played it for 6 hours straight once, no issues, was very hot though. return yours, 1 years warranty. same goes for OP. ps3 shouldn't do that. exchange it for new one. also with the slim ones it clearly states in the manual to keep it in a well ventilated area. nothing should constricting air flow. I hate to think I have to baby my console just to get it to do what I want it to do. I could've also bought a console that came in off a shipment where someone was having a sh*t day and started tossing boxes around. The speculation is endless. Kudos. I went to restore my file system, and it did say it was corrupted and needed fixing. Hopefully this does the trick. If not, I'll restore my database when I have time. I have 320gb slim.. ^all of the other games I own run perfect, it's only RDR that freezes. As I said in my original post, the game runs perfectly on my parents PS3, and that's when I'd go on a 6-7 hour binge. I've logged nearly 48 hours of game time for RDR alone on their PS3. The Xbox has f*cked up on me 3 times and sounds like a tractor PS3 still runs well though, although there is quite a bit of fan noise from it now after a few hours playing.
